“Five stars isn’t enough for Charlie and Gary! They looked after Lola, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the start, they were incredibly attentive, asked lots of questions at the meet and greet, and then followed Lola's care instructions. We were so grateful for the frequent photo updates, it really put our minds at ease seeing her so happy and settled while we were away. Lola had a blast on all her lovely walks, and the best part was seeing her bond with their dog, Jenny. By the time we picked her up, they were buddies! It’s such a relief to find sitters who truly treat your pup like family (and let's her snuggle on the sofa!) We would recommend Charlie and Gary in a heartbeat and will definitely be booking with them again in the future. Thanks again, guys!”

About: I’ve recently relocated from London to Brentwood and I’m looking to meet some new local pups! Over the last decade, I’ve handled everything from high-energy puppies who need help with their basic commands and potty training, to older dogs who just want a quiet companion. I’m reliable, tidy, and most importantly, I genuinely love Dogs! Since I’m new to the area, I’m currently building up my local client base and would love to meet you and your dog for a "Meet & Greet" to see if we’re a good fit! I work from home 3x a week, i would love to take care of another furry friend alongside my little frenchie! Long weekends are when i spend the most time with my dog :) I have a play area and crate available, we also have a park nearby that i usually go to for longer walks, my frenchie and dogs ive taken care of loves it there!
“Rocky had the best day with Jennifer. He was very well looked after and he kept on running back to her when I picked him up, which is unlike him as he can take a long time to get used to someone. She kept me updated the whole day with photos and videos, which was lovely.”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life, 2 staffies (one who didn’t get on with other dogs) a springer and a jack/staffie cross. They all had their own personalities but all needed a lot of walks and I miss that the most, taking them out for a long walk in rain, hail or shine and getting home and watching them curl up and drift off always makes me happy. I work full time but wfh home on a Monday and Friday so I only offer long weekends, unless they can have a dog walker for the days I’m not at home. That way I know I can take them out for a walk in the morning and then again after work. I have a reasonably large fenced garden. I don’t allow dogs upstairs or on the furniture. You’re dog will get lots of cuddles, walks and playtime if they like those things, I know they don’t all do.
“Izabella was absolutely wonderful with our little boy. She showered him with love and cuddles, kept him thoroughly entertained, and her communication throughout was excellent, we received constant updates and photos. We would wholeheartedly recommend her.”

“We couldn't be happier with the care that Basil Boris provided for our dogs, Hugo and Peppa! From the moment we met, it was clear that they genuinely love animals. Peppa is 15 years old and requires a little extra attention like eye drops and cleaning and she was perfectly looked after. It really put our minds at ease knowing she was in such capable hands. Meanwhile, Hugo had a blast with their two other dogs and came home happy and well exercised. We received regular updates and pictures throughout the stay, which made us feel completely connected to our pets while we were away. We’re so grateful to have found such a reliable and caring sitter for our fur babies. We’ll definitely be booking them again in the future and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a thoughtful and trustworthy dog sitter. Thank you, Basil Boris, for taking such wonderful care of Hugo and Peppa!”

“We were quite nervous about leaving Boo for the first time with a family we didn’t know however Vanessa was very reassuring. Vanessa spoke in a very calming way around Boo and Boo appeared comfortable straight away. I felt confident when leaving Boo with Vanessa and she sent me a lovely little video showing me Boo playing and having fun, which was lovely. When I collected Boo, Vanessa and her husband expressed how much they and their daughter had enjoyed looking Boo and I could see Boo had had a great time too!I I would definitely use Vanessa again and would highly recommend her.”
“Clarke and Martin are lovely people and took great care of our frenchie. She was very comfortable with them, probably because of all the cuddles she received, and was completely relaxed in their home which is always nice to know! Thanks again to you both!”

“Katie looked after Hugo beautifully and he enjoyed his stay. Really good communication throughout. Hugo settled quickly and made himself at home and enjoyed the attention. I felt very relaxed knowing he was in good hands. Would definitely use Katie again 😃”

“Ashley & her partner are knowledgable about Dogs & cared for our male Frenchie Louis with great care & skill. Their set up is friendly & welcoming & Louis was picked up super calm / well rested and could tell these people had really looked after him - Highly recommend. Best Stephen & Vanessa”

“Nicole is absolutely wonderful with my dog, who can be challenging as he doesn’t like strangers. My dog loves seeing Nicole because he gets taken on runs, outings and gets to sunbathe in Nicole’s garden. Would highly recommend booking Nicole as a sitter.”

“Our girls enjoyed their stay with Danielle. She was really understanding & patient with them. (And me when I messed up on my flight times) .. Would definitely recommend and will 100% book them in with Danielle again. Thank you x”

“Another great visit for Bailey. Jane gives us great updates and we always know exactly what they are up to. We look forward to Bailey’s next visit to stay in a couple of months!”

Jay and his partner were absolutely fantastic at looking after my boy. I absolutely enjoyed every photo and update they sent me. Carlos definitely had the best time at their house in fact he had so much fun that he now misses them and their little frenchie ! Definitely 100% recommend and would have Carlos back there 100%

Travis looked after my 7 year old lab, Milo, and I couldn’t be happier with how it went! Travis was reassuring from the start and I couldn’t fault how he treated Milo. He kept Milo’s routine the same from his walks to his feeds and was happy to do whatever Milo normally does. The regular updates and pictures while we were away were great and we were happy to see that Milo was having a good time with Travis. We’ll definitely be booking him again - thanks Travis!

Elle was great with Frank who at times can be very needy and boisterous. She kept me updated and sent photos regularly and It was very reassuring knowing he was in good hands. He clearly enjoyed his 11 days with her and id have no concerns about leaving Frank with Elle again.
Caitlin was brilliant with Dave and I’d definitely recommend her. She kept me updated throughout his stay with regular messages and lovely photos, which was really reassuring. Dave seemed really happy and settled when I picked him up, and it was clear he’d been well looked after. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Caitlin again!

Serena and Sam were great! Very friendly couple looking after our dog overnight. We would highly recommend. They provided regular updates of our dog with pictures. We have already booked in a longer stay later in the year and will be using them going forward! Thank you!

Jana was incredibly easy to communicate with - responsive, friendly and very helpful. She looked after our older, blind dog extremely conscientiously and kindly. She sent us regular updates and was super happy to be flexible around us. Highly recommended! Thanks, Jana

I couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter for Dolly! She was treated like one of the family and genuinely looked after as if she were her own pet. Dolly was absolutely spoiled with love, attention, and cuddles, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. We also had regular updates and pictures from Laura. Dolly was taken out regularly, had lots of fun adventures, and came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. It was obvious how much affection and care she received. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dedicated to looking after their dog.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
