We can’t recommend Jennifer and Aavie (the dog) enough. They looked after Dusty like she was their own. We were regularly updated with what she was up to and photos of her settled in their home. She loved staying with them, went on regular walks and activities. She was at home with them and this means we can enjoy our time away too. Thank you again.

About: Get to know me more! 🫶 I take the time to get to know each dog as an individual. Every dog has their own personality, routine, likes and dislikes, so I’ll always follow the routine you’re used to at home wherever possible. Whether your dog wants long walks and lots of play, or prefers a quiet afternoon on the sofa getting cuddles, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable and happy. I also understand how difficult it can be leaving your pet with someone else. That’s why I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages throughout their stay, so you can relax knowing your fur baby is having a lovely time. 🥰 For me, pet sitting isn’t just a job I want your dog to be genuinely excited to come back and see me! 🐶💕 You won’t just be booking a dog sitter you’ll be choosing someone who genuinely cares about making your dog feel safe, loved and spoiled while you’re away. 🫶 I grew up in a house full of dogs and puppies!🥹 I now work from home, which means I have a very flexible schedule and can give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. 🐾 Unlike someone who works away from home for hours, I’m here throughout the day, so your pet won’t be left alone for long periods. I can fit walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles and toilet breaks around my working day, and I’m able to give them lots of company and attention throughout the day. Essentially, when your pet stays with me, my home becomes their home too 🐶💕 I live in a large, spacious home with a huge garden and acres of private land, giving dogs plenty of room to explore, play and relax. I also have beautiful woodland just a few seconds’ walk from our home, which is perfect for lovely walks and plenty of new smells to explore! 🐾🌳 I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable and settled in my home, while keeping their individual routines, needs and personalities in mind. I’ll follow your instructions carefully around feeding, walks, medication, treats and bedtime routines, so your pet’s stay feels as familiar as possible.

Five stars isn’t enough for Charlie and Gary! They looked after Lola, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the start, they were incredibly attentive, asked lots of questions at the meet and greet, and then followed Lola's care instructions. We were so grateful for the frequent photo updates, it really put our minds at ease seeing her so happy and settled while we were away. Lola had a blast on all her lovely walks, and the best part was seeing her bond with their dog, Jenny. By the time we picked her up, they were buddies! It’s such a relief to find sitters who truly treat your pup like family (and let's her snuggle on the sofa!) We would recommend Charlie and Gary in a heartbeat and will definitely be booking with them again in the future. Thanks again, guys!

Pippa loved her time with Harry and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. Would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks

About: I have grown up and cared with dogs big and small for as long as I can remember. As of a couple of years ago I have owned and looked after reptile's and hamsters, dogs and cats. I currently own 6 small dogs and a chameleon whom I dedicate my time to. I have experience with elder dogs, diet requirements and medicine requirements that I am happy to apply if needed. I am currently studying but have plenty of time for furry friend visits. Happy to do daytime or evenings visits, fitting in around owners schedules. I take each owners home into consideration and assess each dog’s needs individually and how I can care for them in a safe and fun manor.

About: I’m a lifelong dog lover and proud owner of a wonderful 5-year-old Cockapoo, so caring for dogs is a big part of my everyday life. I also have plenty of experience with dogs within my wider family and friends and am very comfortable around different personalities and temperaments. Dogs really are like children to me (and, if I’m honest, I often prefer them to humans!). I know how important it is to leave your dog with someone you can trust, so I’ll always treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. That means lots of attention, affection, walks, playtime and, of course, plenty of cuddles. As a dog owner myself, I understand all the little things that matter — sticking to routines, keeping them happy and comfortable, and making sure they feel safe and loved while their owner is away. 🐾 I work from home, which means I’m around throughout the day to give your dog plenty of company, attention and affection. My schedule is flexible, so I can easily fit in regular walks, toilet breaks, playtime and cuddles throughout the day. Having my own dog means that walks and doggy routines are already a natural part of my day. I love having four-legged company while I work, and your dog will be treated like part of the family rather than simply being looked after. 🐾 Your dog’s safety, comfort and happiness will always be my priority. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know that your dog is in safe and caring hands. I work from home, so dogs in my care will have plenty of supervision and company throughout the day. I’ll always follow your dog’s usual routine, including feeding times, walks, toilet breaks and any specific instructions you provide. I have a fenced garden for the dogs to enjoy. I’m very attentive to each dog’s individual personality and needs and will make sure they have a comfortable, relaxed environment with lots of affection and attention. I’ll treat your dog just as I would want someone to treat my own — like one of the family. 🐾

So kind, caring and accommodating. They genuinely love all the dogs they care for and it shows. Dolly was so relaxed and happy the whole time she was there. About: I’ve always had pets in my family home and we currently have 2 dogue de bordeaux’s! All of the dogs we have owned have lived with us until they passed, meaning I have experience with puppies through to seniors! As well as this, I have always had large dog breeds, the biggest being 2 Newfoundlands, so I am able to cope with many challenges our pets can throw our way. I’m a university student currently at home for the summer which makes me perfect for caring for your pets! I absolutely love getting out and about so I’d love to take your dog for a lovely new walk! I have a fenced in back garden and two loving female French Mastiffs, they’re giant teddy bears with no prior issues with other animals! If you would prefer for me to sit inside your home, I will be happy to leave my two at home as my partner will be there, do not feel like they are necessary as well! :)

What a lovely experience! Leaving my dog, Moe,is always tough, but Ayush made it completely stress-free. Their home is safe, welcoming, and perfect for dogs. The pick-up and drop-off process was completely seamless. Will definitely use Ayush boarding service again! It’s a huge relief finding a boarder I can trust completely. Highly recommend!"

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Basildon on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 13,276 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Basildon. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
