“Sheila is lovely and really made our dog Bonnie feel at ease. Bonnie had a great time with Buddy and Ted. I will definitely use Sheila again in the future, would highly recommend her!”

“We’d never left Poppy with a dog sitter outside of the family before, but as soon as we arrived at Victoria’s house we were immediately put at ease. She was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our dog has quite niche requirements and Victoria followed everything to a tee. Poppy absolutely loved staying over. We got plenty of pictures and updates throughout the day which allowed us to enjoy our day out even more. We would recommend Victoria to anyone looking for a dog first dog sitter. We will definitely use Victoria again in the future and in fact we’re already booked back in, in a few weeks! We know Poppy would be delighted to stay again! Thanks again 😁”

“Jennifer was brillant and Buddy absolutely loved his bank holiday stay. Jennifer provided excellent communication throughout sending updates and photos. Buddy cannot wait to stay again.x”

“Javier was excellent from first contact to picking our dog up. Great communication regarding the booking and ‘happy’ videos/snaps of our dog at play with him! Would have no hesitation in recommending his services.”

“What a lovely experience! Leaving my dog, Moe,is always tough, but Ayush made it completely stress-free. Their home is safe, welcoming, and perfect for dogs. Moe settled in immediately, got plenty of exercise and was treated like family. I loved receiving the regular photo updates and could tell my dog was having a blast. The pick-up and drop-off process was completely seamless. Will definitely use Ayush boarding service again! It’s a huge relief finding a boarder I can trust completely. Highly recommend!"”

“Bonnie came home relaxed and happy after her first stay with Charlotte. We are very pleased to have found somewhere we can leave her and know she is happy and safe. We will be back.”

“First of all Becky was very responsive to messsges and was extremely easy to communicate with. She was absolutely brilliant with our bulldog who struggled a little, keeping him calm and cool and keeping in touch with us. A great sitter who I highly recommend.”

“We can’t rate Lauren highly enough! Our Bella loved her time with Lauren and the kids. Trying to pick Bella up to bring her home and she curls up next to Lauren, which I’m taking as the dog equivalent of “I want to live here now”. We’ve already rebooked with Lauren for the next trip away”

“Met jess a few days before benji stay. Benji was happy around jess which was lovely to see. Jess kept me informed and sent photos when I collected benji I could see he was happy so makes me happy”

“Lucy was brilliant! Had lots of pictures and updates during Pippa's stay with her! I could tell from the pictures how relaxed and happy Pippa was! Lucy was happy to give medication when it was needed and nothing was too much trouble! I am very sure Pippa will be staying with Lucy again in the future! Definitely recommended!”

And able to give plenty of cuddles. We no longer have our own dog so looking forward to giving plenty of attention to visiting furry babies Hi, I’m Sharon! About: I’ve been surrounded by animals since I was a kid, specially dogs! I have been a pet care pro for over 4 yrs. Pets stay with us in our own home and get treated like one of the family! I’m always home during the week and I have 2 teenagers and hubby that are in and out of the house and love to fuss and treat our furry guests too! My home has a fenced garden. An animal loving grown up family to give lots of cuddles. When visiting your home I take care of your pets as if they were my own.
About: We’ve both grown up with dogs and have spent many years caring for pets of all ages, from energetic puppies to older dogs. Between us, we have over two years of pet sitting experience, as well as a lifetime of owning and looking after our own family dogs. We treat every dog as if they were our own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. We enjoy playing with them, giving them plenty of attention, and taking them on regular walks in the lovely parks and green spaces near our home. We’re also happy to follow your dog’s usual routine, including feeding schedules, medication, and any special care they may need. As a couple, there’s always someone available to give your pet the care and companionship they deserve. We understand how important it is to leave your dog with people you can trust, and we’ll do everything we can to make them feel right at home. For everyone’s comfort and hygiene, we kindly require all dogs to arrive clean when coming for daycare or boarding. We both work full-time from home, which means we’re around throughout the day to provide plenty of care, attention, and companionship. Dogs won’t be left alone and will have regular toilet breaks, playtime, walks, and lots of affection. We enjoy being active and love taking dogs for walks in the nearby parks and green spaces. We also make sure each dog has time to relax, stick to their usual routine, and feels comfortable and settled while staying with us. Your dog’s safety and happiness are our top priorities. We have a secure, fully fenced garden where dogs can safely play and explore. We also have our own friendly two-year-old miniature Dachshund, Bella, who is calm, gentle, and very sociable. She has never shown any signs of aggression and enjoys the company of other dogs, making her a wonderful companion for visiting pets. We’ll always follow your dog’s usual routine, including feeding times, walks, medication (if required), and any specific instructions you provide. We supervise interactions, keep the environment clean and safe, and treat every dog as if they were part of our own family, ensuring they receive plenty of love, attention, and care throughout their stay.

“Ralph had a great time with Sydney, Tom and Bonnie over the last week. Seemed to settle in quickly and we were kept up to date to pictures during his stay. We’ll be booking in again soon and would highly recommend.”

About: Animals have been the center of my world for as long as I can remember. I have lived with and cared for pets and dogs from the age of six, meaning that understanding animal behavior, routines, and body language is second nature to me. This lifelong devotion allows me to quickly connect with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I was solely the proud owner of a rescue dog who required daily medication, strict routines, and an immense amount of patience. This beautiful experience taught me how to connect with sensitive, anxious, or medical-needs dogs. I know firsthand how to build trust with animals at their own pace, providing a calm and safe environment for pets who need extra tenderness. I work from home most of the week and can be home all day so your dog will always have company. I can also be available at weekends if I know in advance. - I have a fenced garden so your pet can use freely to play or for toilet breaks whenever they like - I do not have any other pets - Pets are allowed on furniture 🤎🐾
About: I take the time to get to know each dog as an individual. Every dog has their own personality, routine, likes and dislikes, so I’ll always follow the routine you’re used to at home wherever possible. Whether your dog wants long walks and lots of play, or prefers a quiet afternoon on the sofa getting cuddles, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable and happy. I also understand how difficult it can be leaving your pet with someone else. That’s why I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages throughout their stay, so you can relax knowing your fur baby is having a lovely time. 🥰 For me, pet sitting isn’t just a job I want your dog to be genuinely excited to come back and see me! 🐶You won’t just be booking a dog sitter you’ll be choosing someone who genuinely cares about making your dog feel safe, loved and spoiled while you’re away. 🫶 Please note I can also look after your dog on a 1-1 basis without any dogs around! Just make sure you request this when you message me :) I grew up in a house full of dogs and puppies! I now work from home, which means I have a very flexible schedule and can give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. Unlike someone who works away from home for hours, I’m here throughout the day, so your pet won’t be left alone for long periods. I can fit walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles and toilet breaks around my working day, and I’m able to give them lots of company and attention throughout the day. Essentially, when your pet stays with me, my home becomes their home too 💕 I live in a large, spacious home with a huge garden and acres of private land, giving dogs plenty of room to explore, play and relax. I also have beautiful woodland just a few seconds’ walk from our home, which is perfect for lovely walks and plenty of new smells to explore🐾🌳 I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable and settled in my home, while keeping their individual routines, needs and personalities in mind. I’ll follow your instructions carefully around feeding, walks, medication, treats and bedtime routines, so your pet’s stay feels as familiar as possible.
“Sammy was Ultra reliable Ultra responsive and a lifesaver frankly. It was a proper last-minute.com because I completely forgot before my holiday to board my dog in an organised way. Thankfully Sammy came to the rescue. Highly recommended. James.”

About: I have grown up and cared with dogs big and small for as long as I can remember. As of a couple of years ago I have owned and looked after reptile's and hamsters, dogs and cats. I currently own 6 small dogs and a chameleon whom I dedicate my time to. I have experience with elder dogs, diet requirements and medicine requirements that I am happy to apply if needed. I am currently studying but have plenty of time for furry friend visits. Happy to do daytime or evenings visits, fitting in around owners schedules. I take each owners home into consideration and assess each dog’s needs individually and how I can care for them in a safe and fun manor.

“Our Border collie Finn had a great time with Elizabeth. He looked great when we got home. Elizabeth sent us regular messages, pictures and videos which we really appreciated. We will definitely use Elizabeth again and have no hesitation in recommending her. Thankyou Elizabeth. XX”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences – Basildon
We highly recommend Javier! Our 10-month-old rescue puppy, Munchkin, has been with us since February, and it has taken him some time to settle in. He can be quite anxious and nervous, especially when out walking. Our teenage children really wanted to go on holiday, but we were a bit apprehensive about leaving him, especially since he hadn't been left home alone yet. Thankfully, we found Javier. He arranged a meet-and-greet at his house, and his softly spoken, caring nature instantly put our minds at ease. Munchkin loved exploring the space and meeting Javier's lovely family and dog, Walter. Javier was incredibly accommodating and more than happy to fit in with Munchkin’s routine. Every day, we received updates and pictures, which really helped us relax. We loved seeing Munchkin look so happy and content. We are so glad we found Javier and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a caring home environment for their dog. Thank you!

Catherine treated my Maggie like her own and was truly spoiled! I got photos of long walks, picnics and trips to cafes. Cat met with us twice before the boarding to ensure she learnt everything about my dog and Bernie got on with Maggie. Brilliant experience for me and my dog! If she could talk, I’m certain she’d ask to go back.

Yvonne and her family are amazing! They took such a great care of my sausage dog Bruno! From all the photos and videos she was sending me, whilst he was with them, I can tell he was feeling safe and loved. Thank you, Yvonne! I’m sure Bruno and I will see you again! ❤️

She was absolutely amazing with my dog. Her communication was excellent. She always kept me updated with clear information and sent lovely photos where I could see just how happy and comfortable my dog was during the stay. It was obvious that she has great experience and truly cares about providing high-quality service. She was also incredibly flexible and helpful when arranging all the details. I feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful sitter. Highly recommended! 🐶✨

Cooper had a fantastic time and we felt happy whilst we were away knowing he was being well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble and Cooper had some fantastic walks and interactions with other dogs. We had regular updates and pictures as well. Cooper loves his times with Sydney, Cat and Bernie…

It's always a bit stressful when you leave your pets with someone you don't know very well and it was a long stay, but as soon as I met Shaki I was able to relax and felt confident Terrance would be fine and well looked after and he was. She kept me up to date throughout with photos and videos and kept up with his medications etc. Would happily book with her again. Thanks Shaki for looking after him so well.

Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
