“Bella had a fabulous time with Gary and his partner Anita.during her stay. Bella was taken for very long walks by Gary, which being a highly energetic Patterdale , was perfect as she absolutely loves her walks! Gary kept me updated everyday with how Bella was and sent me photos with updates, which kept me completely reassured that she was ok and was having great fun! She loved playing with lots of toys and also received lots of cuddles, which she loved and Gary & Anita treated her as if she was part of the family and she really loved being there with them both. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gary and will definitely be booking Bella in to stay there again in the future!”

“What a very caring loving couple. Was a 2 and a half hour drive for us, but when you get that gut feeling that they are the right people, to look after you dog, its worth it. I left there house, feeling relaxed, knowing he was going to be well cared for. While on holiday, I got updates on how he was doing and photos. (Started to get a bit worried he wouldn’t want to come home,) he was having so much fun😂. Thankfully he did. Well what can I say, I’m home, just taken Prince for a walk, oh my good what a different dog. No pulling, I was actually taking him for a walk, not the other way round, absolutely amazing, thank you.. Prince has been very well looked after, all his needs have been met and more.”

“A big thank you to Danielle D. Wilf came home a happy dog and I would have no hesitation with leaving Wilf with Danielle and her girls in the future. I received lots of photos showing how relaxed Wilf was when in her care.”

“Would definitely recommend and use Ayan's services again. Our Maltese dog, Milo, stayed with Ayan and his family for a week while we were on holiday. They looked after him very well and we got regular updates, photos and even videos, more than once a day at times. Thank you again for taking such good care of our fur baby.”

“Ivy had a wonderful time staying with Ian and Alice. Communication was excellent throughout, and we really appreciated the regular updates and beautiful photos. We’d happily recommend them.”

About: I have experience caring for cats and providing dog walking services, and I truly enjoy working with animals.I am a patient and gentle sitter who takes the time to build trust with each pet. I’m especially good with shy or nervous cats, giving them space while helping them feel comfortable.I take the time to understand each pet’s personality, whether they are energetic or more shy, and adapt my approach to suit them. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, as I am available in the early mornings for feeding and dog walking, as well as in the afternoons. I am reliable and make sure to stick to each pet’s routine. I also have more flexibility on weekends, so I can spend extra time with pets and adapt to their needs I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed by following their usual routine as closely as possible. When visiting a pet owner’s home, I am respectful, keep everything clean and tidy, and carefully follow all instructions for feeding, walks, and care. I do not offer overnight stays in the owner’s home, but I can provide boarding in my own home for cats and small dogs. My home is a calm, safe, and secure environment, suitable for smaller pets where they will receive plenty of attention and care. I always prioritise safety by keeping pets secure indoors, using leads on walks, and making sure doors and gates are properly closed. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners feel reassured while they are away

“Christopher was an easygoing and flexible host. He was also very communicative, sending daily updates about Rocco. Rocco seemed to have a good match with him and Nina. We will definitely consider him for any future bookings! Once again, thank you for having Rocco for the last 5 days.”

“Lucy & Chris are the best dog sitters. Initial communication was great and they were happy to come out to do a meet and great with our dogs beforehand. During their stay we were kept updated with pics and messages. Would highly recommend. Stanley & Pumpkin will definitely be returning.”

About: I’ve always lived with dogs - childhood pets, dog sitting when studying and now having my own dogs. Currently we have a young setter whom we trained from a puppy. I have experience in looking after a range of dogs but the majority of my experience is with spaniels (my previous dog was a springer spaniel), retrievers and Labrador’s and their needs. I’m used to high energy dogs who need lots of walking and game playing. I have experienced first hand the transformation in a dog once it has sufficient exercise and stimulation, so will always look to ensure that your dog has enough walking and play. Our setter has suffered from separation anxiety, so I very aware of the challenges of this & the resulting behaviour. We have worked hard to overcome this & with the right routine in place can now leave him for a couple of hours. We are also working very hard with his recall & making progress, I have honestly found training a ongoing personal achievement and has strengthened our bond hugely. With active dogs, in and out of puddles etc. I am very aware regular brushing is essential to keep their coat untangled and clean. Personally I think this is a lovely way to spent sometime with your dog when they are calm in the evening and happy to spend time with your dog in this way. I’m work from home part time supporting my partners carpentry business. I have two children (4&7) so have school runs twice a day. I’m around the majority of the day otherwise. I walk our dog after school drop off for at least an hour, we go to local open spaces or drive to the country parks. I will take him for another shorter walk either before pick up or later in the day once my partner is home. I'm happy to take additional walks if this is needed for your dog or play scent games in the house & when I'm home they are always free to go in the garden. I have a two year old friendly neutered male English Setter in my home. He likes all dogs and if they are energetic he will play with them. If they are senior he respects this and is gentle. I walk with him for over an hour a day and often go for runs. I can walk other dogs with or without him. If your dog was in our home, they would be in the same space as him on the ground floor and in the garden. Dogs are not allowed upstairs in the bedrooms but provide beds in each room, so they are able to to be with me throughout the day & are not left alone. Whilst the dog will never be left alone around the children (and my children have been around dogs all their lives), it will need to be happy to be in a family environment. Our setter (like a Labrador) is happy to try and eat anything! During mealtimes, our dog and any visiting dogs will be put in a different room. He is a counter surfer and so surfaces and tables are clear of food aside from mealtimes, so they do not get anything that might upset their tummies. I'm very vigilant on keeping any non dog friendly foods well away (raisins, chocolate etc.)
“Dorota was so friendly and accommodating. My dog Louis is quite a nervous, anxious dog and Dorota made him and myself feel completely comfortable and at ease. I received lots of pictures and updates during his stay which was lovely! Will definitely be booking again!”

“Absolute gold standard of pet care! 🌟 Our Frenchie Eloise struggles with separation anxiety, so we were incredibly anxious about leaving her. Then enter Shara and her wonderful family! They provided the most loving, compassionate care we could have ever hoped for. Thanks to Shara's frequent, forthcoming updates, we could see Eloise was having the time of her life. She showed no signs of anxiety at all… in fact, she was so spoiled with love that she didn't want to come home! We are so grateful and would fully recommend Shara to anyone looking for a ‘pawfect’ pet vacation. Thank you so much!”

About: Hello, I am Tracey and I have had dogs all my life and can’t imagine a home without one! I have lots of years of experience caring for them and my main aim is to make them feel like what I offer is a home from home experience when you can’t be with them. I offer a calm, loving home where your dog is treated as family and as one of our own pets. With my 3 grown up daughters and partner living at home this can be a busy household especially at weekends but there are enough rooms for quiet zones if your pet needs some time alone and there is certainly the opportunity for lots of attention and those all important walks, playtime and cuddles. Your pet will have the company of our family dog Winnie who is a 3 year old Lhasa Apso – she looks like a teddy bear – who will love the company and companionship of a new friend to visit every now and then! If you did want to consider us, then I would suggest a meet and greet to see if our furry friends are comfortable with each other. I only host one household at a time so your furry friend will enjoy a safe and exclusive stay with the use of a safe enclosed garden. I work from home everyday so I am always around to give them my attention. They will never be fully left alone without prior arrangement with yourself. Where we live is full of green fields and places to explore on walks. There is plenty of space downstairs in our house for your dog to be kept at night either with their own bedding or crated and off course before booking with us we would go through all of your dogs requirements and routine. I offer one offs and regular day care and overnight boarding. Please just get in touch to discuss what it is you are looking for… I currently work full time at home so I have plenty of time to play with your dogs and adjust to their needs when needed. I have a big fenced garden and my friendly dog to keep your fur baby company, I can easily crate your dog if needed/suit to their needs.

Danwei was a fantastic pet sitter for our doggo! Over the few days he watched him, we received regular photo updates, which gave us total peace of mind. Danwei went the extra mile to ensure all his needs were met. We highly recommend his services and will definitely be rebooking in the future!

Kasia looked after our 14 week old Bichon Frise puppy for 3 nights, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As first time puppy owners, we were naturally nervous as it was Tina’s first time away from home (she’s not even toilet trained yet!). Kasia was amazing with her, she clearly understands puppies and gave Tina so much care, patience and attention. Tina enjoyed lovely walks, plenty of playtime, and came home happy, relaxed, and very content. It was obvious she had been well looked after and genuinely enjoyed her stay. We completely trust Kasia and wouldn’t hesitate to leave Tina with her again. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of our girl!

Really glad to have found Gemma to look after our Cockerpoo while we went on holiday. We had a meet and greet and I could see straight away that Sam would be looked after very well. Gemma obviously loves dogs. She sent us lots of photos and he seemed to be very happy with her and her family.

I booked my boy Buddy in for his holidays with Kevin and wow, he’s home and been washed and so has his blanket, he appears to be sulking or having the holiday blues now! I was updated daily with messages pictures and videos and will definitely be using Kevin again. Before I went away we did a small meet up and confirmed any insecurity I may had and also while away and injured myself Kevin brought Buddy back to my home. Couldn’t get better , a real gem of a find!

Thank you so much to Zarala and Alex for looking after Bella so well! She had the best time with you both, going on lovely long walks, playing in your garden and playing with you both with her toys, especially “Tug”, which is her absolute favourite and she loved all her cuddles and strokes, thank you . Zarala sent me lots of photos and videos everyday, which was lovely to see her so settled and happy and reassured me, when I knew she was having a great time and was being looked after so well. I can’t thank you both enough for your genuine love and care that you gave her and I don’t think she actually wanted to come home, that’s how happy she was! 😊

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
