“Barbara and Frank were excellent with our dog Lilo. My husband and I were apprehensive about how Lilo would behave whilst in their care but they provided her with lots of love and reassurance and from the photos we were sent she seemed very settled in their home. Barbara provided regular updates and they were very accommodating when our arrival time for collection was later than expected. I would certainly feel happy rebooking their services in the future!”

“Toots was made very welcome. It was incredibly hot in the UK and she was kept cool and happy. Visited the beach too! Charly kept us updated regularly which gave us full peace of mind that all was well. Couldn’t wish for a better arrangement.”

“I was nervous in leaving Coco for the first time but I couldnt be more pleased. Megan put my mind at rest with plenty of photos and updates where the dogs looked so happy! Thank you!”

“Fantastic couple kept in contact from the minute I asked to book with them, Gary set up. Meet up date so we could meet prior to taking my boy to them. Both Gary and Anita were very welcoming when we arrived to meet up, then from the minute I dropped my boy off, to when I picked him up they were in giving a couple of updates every morning and evening. As much as my dog was happy to see me when I picked him up. I knew straight away, he had been treated like their own pet and was very calm and relaxed. He had the best time with Gary and Anita and I will definitely book with them again if they have availability the next time I need someone to look after my cheeky but loving boy.”

“Michael clearly loves dogs and our dog Debbie loves him right back. He was communicative, sent lots of cute photos and I felt very confident that she was in the best care both for her physical needs and her need for love and cuddles. Thank you Michael!”

“Our two mini dachshunds Cosmo and Max had a fabulous five nights with Zoe. They enjoyed a lovely home, and a secure back garden to wander around - and regular walks on the nearby Heath. We knew instantly they would be well cared for and it was clear from the amazing photos and kind messages (sent daily) that they bonded straightaway with Zoe and her partner. Zoe provided great updates, photos and communication. The photos were amazing and plentiful of their activities during the day and in the evening. Zoe really cared for our two fur babies and we would not hesitate in recommending her services.”

“Thank you Charlotte and family for looking after Buddy. He made himself right at home! He is used to plenty of exercise and lots of cuddles and playtime and he certainly received all of these! Regular updates and photos reassured us Bud was having the best time.”

“Bear went to stay with Nicola and Jude for 8days while we went on holiday to Spain and we were so happy with the care and attention he received. This was the first time we have ever left Bear and Nicola treated him like her own and gave us regular updates, photos and videos. Bear was very happy and looked like he had a great week getting lots of nice walks and cuddles. We have already rebooked for our next trip and recommend her highly!”

“Lisa was absolutely wonderful with my senior Staffie, Honey. From the start, she was patient, gentle, and clearly experienced with older dogs and their unique needs. Throughout the stay, Lisa kept me updated and made sure Honey was comfortable, happy, and well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lisa to anyone, especially those with senior dogs who need a little extra care and compassion.”

“We left our greyhound Dolly with Sean for four nights and we couldn’t be happier with how it went. Sean lives in a quiet countryside location with a big garden, which makes a great place to have a dog. Dolly was very comfortable and enjoyed her walks, and we got regular updates from Sean. We will definitely use Sean again.”

About: I have loved cats and dogs since I was a child but only when settled in my own home after university did I feel settled enough to start to care for my own cats and dogs. Now I have the time to care for other pets and make them part of our family while they are here. I have a 4 year old Lab Retriever and two cats who both know how to live with dogs. Now that I have retired I have all the time in the world to devote to looking after my pets and yours. Your dog can become part of our family and share in all the care and attention I have a medium sized fully fenced in garden and plenty of room for the pets to find a quiet space if they need it or they are welcome to jump on the sofa for a cuddle.

Lisa was brilliant from the get go. Iv never left any of my dogs with anyone before especially someone I dont know so I was understandably a bit nervous about doing so! Our puppy being only 18 weeks old too! But lisa came highly recommended, glad i gave her a chance because she was great! Communicated and kept us up to date everyday with messages and photos, and she followed our boys routine with ease. He was more than happy around both lisa and her partner upon picking him back up so he obviously enjoyed his week with them too 🥰 glad to have found such a lovely lady that I know will take care of my boy as if he was her own. Will 100% be using her again ❤️

Barbara was very welcoming on our initial visit. Luna is an anxious dog which didn’t phase Barbara at all. I could tell straight away her experience and confidence with dogs. This put myself and most importantly Luna at ease. Luna had a lovely stay and was a good girl which is all we can ask. We would definitely recommend Barbara and will be in touch next time we need a dog sitter.

Charly has been great with our two boys from start to finish. I quickly knew she would welcome them both into her home with open arms. She made sure to let me know by way of texts/videos and pictures every day that they were doing well and had integrated well with her family and dog Blue. I can’t recommend Charly enough and will definitely be bringing the boys back again for another holiday.

Our huskita Ace stayed with Mark for over a week while we were away and I’ve got to say how amazing Mark was at taking care of Ace. The love, time and care that went into making him feel comfortable and at home, we couldn’t have asked for more while we were away. Mark sent us regular updates of Ace, photos and videos, he also asked how Ace likes things and his schedule so he could cater to Aces needs the way we would. 100% would recommend and will definitely be using Mark again as he generally cares for the animals he looks after as if they are his own.

Michael has looked after our 18 month old staffy and she had a brilliant time. Michael took time to get to know her and her routines and then took her on some lovely walks around the local area. He shared lots of updates as well as a tracking beacon so we could stay up to date. She loved her stay. Would highly recommend
Lauren looked after my dog for a whole week, and after an initial meet and greet it was obvious that she would take great care of our dog. She regularly updated us with photos and news of how our dog was doing, and was a real pleasure to deal and communicate with. I'd definitely recommend Lauren and will use her again.

We love Jessica, our Teddy has as much fun as we do on holiday, he loves playing with her Rosie & Jim spaniels, he loves making friends and is well looked after, we love the pup-dates, I thoroughly recommend Jessica and when we go away, Jess is our first call to see if he can stay. Thanks again.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
