“Grace came to stay at my house for a couple of days to look after my doggy dood. He’s a dachshund with an attitude and I felt very comfortable for her to look after him as he took to her immediately, I also felt happy for her to stay at my home. She is trustworthy and very experienced with dogs. I definitely recommend her and would love to have her stay again”

“Michael has been brilliant throughout the process from booking to the actual sit. Jed is a very anxious and reactive dog with new people, particularly in the home. This was explained to Michael and he listened to all our advice and made a great effort to understand Jed’s needs. He gave up his time to come for a meet and greet, plus meeting us for a dog walk, to meet Jed and try build an early bond. Jed was unfortunately a little reactive on the walk, but this never swayed Micheal to his credit. He’s a really friendly and attentive person and it’s clear his enjoys being with dogs. The sit went well and considering Jed isn’t that easy at first, he persevered and by the end of it Jed seems to have relaxed a tad with him. The lovely long walk he took him on would’ve certainly helped :) Communication with Michael is very easy and he sends lots of updates throughout, including nice pictures and videos. All in all it was a great experience and I hope we will be using him again, so he can continue to forge a friendship with Jed :) I would absolutely recommend Michael, an honest and reliable dog sitter, which on this app is not easy to find. We look forward to seeing Michael again.”

“We cannot recommend Amii highly enough! 🌟 She looked after our two very lively girls (a bouncy 2-year-old Staffy and an energetic 1-year-old Rottie) for three weeks while we were abroad for our wedding, and she was nothing short of incredible. From long adventurous walks, to snuggles on the sofa, to brain-training and fun activities — she truly went above and beyond to make sure they were loved, stimulated, and completely happy. It was such a comfort knowing they were in such safe and caring hands, especially being such high-energy pups. Ami kept us updated with photos and messages, so we could enjoy our wedding without worrying for a second. We came home to two very content, relaxed, and clearly well-loved dogs. If you’re looking for someone who treats your fur babies like family — Ami is the one. ❤️🐾 10/10, would book again without hesitation!”

About: Hi, I’m Lily. I’ve had dogs all my life and currently have two of my own, Buzz and Lola. They’ve been with me for over 10 years, so they’ve quite literally watched me grow up. They’re family to me, and anyone who knows me knows I’m completely obsessed with them. Growing up around dogs has given me a real understanding of their different personalities, routines and needs. I’ve spent years caring for, walking and looking after dogs, and I love being around them. Earlier this year I took a job in London, and one thing I found really difficult was not always being around as much to walk my dogs. Luckily, I had family members that did this when I wasn’t there, but ultimately that’s what I enjoyed and I’m no longer working there and able to spend all my time with them. It made me realise how many owners are in exactly the same position. Sometimes work, holidays or simply life get in the way, and that’s completely okay. That’s why I decided to join Rover. I love being outdoors, I love spending time with dogs, and if I can help someone by giving their dog the walks, company and care they deserve while they’re busy, then that’s something I’d genuinely enjoy doing. Although I’m new to Rover, I’m reliable, caring and will treat every dog as if they were my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone else, so I’ll always take the time to understand their routine, personality and anything that makes them feel comfortable and happy. I’ll also make sure you stay updated while you’re away, with plenty of photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your dog is happy, safe and having a great time. Pet care is my main focus at the moment, which means I can dedicate my time to providing reliable, flexible care throughout the week. My schedule allows me to plan my days around the pets I’m looking after, whether that’s walks, home visits or overnight stays. I enjoy keeping dogs company, making sure they get plenty of attention, exercise and care, and I always adapt my routine to suit their individual needs. I only provide care in your dog’s own home, as I believe they’re happiest and most comfortable in familiar surroundings. Before every booking, I like to arrange a meet and greet where I’ll bring a short form to go through your dog’s routine, feeding schedule, walks, any medical needs, favourite sleeping spots, house rules and anything else you’d like me to know. That way I can keep their routine as consistent as possible while you’re away. I’ll also keep you updated with regular photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your dog is happy, safe and well looked after.

“What can I say, this is the first time we have had to leave our dog and cat with people they didnt know. John and Alison where amazing, we where sent pictures daily and the animals where loving life. We came home and the place was spotless. They are a lovely couple and we will definitely use them again.”
“Phill did a great job looking after our two dogs. Pre our holiday Phil came and met dogs and then stopped in again just before we left. On the day of our departure Phil came early to ensure all set. Dogs warmed to him straight away and that includes our rescue who can be tricky with some people and especially men. Daily updates, comms and pictures sent throughout our 2 week holidays. Not only did Phil do a great job with the dogs but kept himself busy doing some painting around the house and in the garden painting our walls and steps which was great as jobs that have been meaning to do and now all done! All without asking Phil to do. House was also very clean with Phil doing a clean before we got home. Despite getting home in the early hours Phil stayed and waited for us to get home to make sure all good! We will definitely use Phil again and would recommend!”

About: Being part of a family that has fostered about 20 rescue dogs now, I can comfortably say that I have experience caring for dogs of all natures, especially those that are very shy or frightened :) Im currently a full time student at university, but while home for summer (June-September) I will be fully free to fit pet care in at any time! I would be able to care for your pets however you describe, whether they need constant attention or if they need to be left alone.

About: I’ve been described as Dr Doolittle since I was a child, I love all animals and luckily they always seem to like me too! I have experience pet and house sitting. I would love a dog of my own (we had a family dog for 15 years who I adored), but I’m not able to have one at the moment, so I’d love to pour my love of animals into some dog sitting and walking. I work full time during the week in an office, working for a local charity. I’d like to pet sit and walk on the weekends, when I can give a dog my full attention and love! When at home, the garden is fully secure and dog safe. I’m lucky to be surrounded with beautiful fields for walks and I have dog walking fields (secure) nearby I could also take a dog to. I’d love to be a home from home for your pup, where they can come for a fun day or weekend and have an absolute blast & lots of love. I have a fenced garden, no children live at the property and we have no other pets. We live in a safe area away from the main road, but we have a secure gate either way.
“Rosie was fantastic from beginning to end, looking after Diesel like a member of her own family. She came round for an initial meet and Diesel was instantly her friend, and we could tell he was in safe hands. Plenty of updates sent throughout our trip away kept us well informed and we returned to a very happy pooch. We wouldn't hesitate to book again, thanks Rosie!”

“Amy came and sat for our dog Copper and he absolutely adored her. She was able to meet all his needs and is kind and compassionate. We would recommend Amy as a dog sitter and will definitely be using her again.”

Lani was absolutely wonderful with Lasco. She was kind, caring, and kept me updated throughout the day, which gave me real peace of mind. It was clear that Lasco was happy and well looked after, and she also took great care of my home. She was reliable, professional, and a pleasure to meet. I wouldn't hesitate to book her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter. Thank you again, Lani! 😊🐾

Wow just wow! I would give 100 stars if I could. From the time we met Simon we knew that our senior dog would be well cared for and happy. We had absolutely fantastic communication and daily updates regarding our dog who I think was fairly disappointed when we came home!! Would certainly be my first choice pet sitter for any future holidays. Thank you so much Lynette

Grace was a godsend! We were let down last minute by someone and I was in a panic looking for someone else. We met beforehand and she instantly made us feel at ease with how warm and relaxed she was. I will definitely book Grace again without a doubt. No issues and good communication.

Lili was an ideal sitter and I can’t speak highly enough about her. The two dogs loved her and Lili sent me photos to let me know they were ok. I had a lovely weekend knowing they were well looked after and the house was immaculate when I returned. Thank you so much Lili.

Maisie has already spent time with our two little ones on several occasions, and each time she has been absolutely wonderful. She’s gentle, reliable, and always keeps us updated, which really puts my mind at ease. The dogs clearly adore her — they greet her with excitement every time, and we always come home to two calm, happy pups. 🐾💛 We’re always happy to have her back — highly recommend!

Jake is a consummate professional when it comes to pet & House Sitting. We took off to India for 3 weeks, safe in the knowledge that our high energy, mischief seeking ,Working Cocker Spaniel would receive the best of care. We loved daily Whats App Video updates and came back to a home which Jake had left in an immaculate state.

Michael was brilliant with our German Shepherd Akira. We were nervous of leaving her with someone else, but he was so good with her. He gave her plenty of exercise and really clocked on to what she does and doesn’t like. Will definitely use Michael’s services again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Maidstone walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maidstone choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 83% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
