“Samara goes above and beyond the expectations we had for our dog Luna, her communication is consistent and excellent. Plenty of updates and photos. Highly recommended and we will definitely use Samara anytime we need Rover. Superb job!”

“Rebecca made me feel so at ease from the very beginning - it being my first booking on Rover. She kept me informed and updated throughout the sit and I was sent loads of pics showing just how relaxed Tommy was in her care. I booked her again that same week! Will definitely use again and am so glad I found someone I can trust.”

“Teddy had an amazing couple of days staying with Ana! I received loads of pupdates during his stay, with lots of photos. I would highly recommend Ana, she clearly loves dogs and Teddy was very happy in her care!! Thanks Ana!”

“Julie was absolutely brilliant with our little cockapoo puppy when we went off on holiday. He loved his time and we were kept updated with regular photos / videos of his puppy antics! Would highly recommend!”

“Cannot rate Karolina highly enough! Our ESS Reggie is a rescue and can be unsure of new things but he instantly warmed to Karolina and her family. Karolina offers a really lovely home-from-home environment that is totally dog-centred.”

“This was the first time that our dog had stayed overnight with Sarah and we are so appreciative of the care taken. Sarah made sure Ziggy was comfortable with walks and cuddles. She also kept in touch with us to keep us up to date with photos, videos and news. It is such a relief to have found Sarah and we are booking again. Thanks, Sarah! Jane and Andrew J”

“Absolutely wonderful! Anya is a true dog lover, and made Olga feel right at home. I got regular updates and photographs of Olga out and about, snuggling in Anya’s bed, and huddled together on the couch with the family. Would recommend 100%, and will definitely be sending Olga there again”

“First time with Francesca and first time with a sitter through Rover. Albie is an elderly chap and so needed a lovely comfy home. He was so well looked after and clearly became part of the family very quickly. I was kept updated on progress and was sent lovely photos. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you to Francesca and Jamie!”

“Thank you so much Igor & Alla for taking such good care of Rudi and keeping me updated with lots of pictures. It was the first time we have left him where he didn’t seem to want to come home so he must have had a great time!”

“Chrissie is absolutely wonderful. Rolo stayed with Chrissie for the first time for 3 nights this week and he obviously had a wonderful time. I got lots of pics of him out on his walks and at home with the family and snoozing peacefully. He returned home very happy and relaxed and straight into his normal routine. Huge thanks!”

“Would highly recommend Bryony and Matt. They had Milo for a long weekend and I felt so at ease and comfortable, they treat Milo like he’s their own and kept me updated. Milo gets very excited to them. Thank you x”

“Joanna was amazing. It was our first time using Rover and she was incredible. We did a meet & greet beforehand and the whole process was super easy and smooth. Joanna was very easy to communicate with and kept us fully informed how things were going with regular pictures and videos. Cannot recommend highly enough :-) Thank you Joanna and Fuet!”

“Ruby & Steve looked after my massive mastiff for a long weekend. He tells me that he had a great time, and can’t wait to go back! I also had a great time, as there were plenty of comms and pics to stop me from worrying.”

“My Cocker Spaniel Nala had her first sleepover with Liam before her pending holiday to see how they both got on together. Well, I needn’t had worried because Nala soon made herself at home & became attached to Liam & his lovely girlfriend Sarah. Liam updated me regularly with photos & messages (very spoiled sleeping on the sofa & Liams lap) as he knew I was a little anxious leaving her for the first time but Nala settled in very quickly & had a fantastic time with a lovely trip to Dunorlan Park. Nala is back tomorrow for a 10 day holiday and I know she will be very well cared for & have the best time! I have no hesitation in recommending Liam to pet sit your beloved dogs.”

“Sharne and Werner were very professional - taking time to ask lots of questions about Nelly so they could look after her as well as possible. I am very grateful to them for taking such good care of her and reassuring me with many updates and photos. She obviously felt very comfortable and happy with them.”

“Jasper had a really great stay with Jamie! Can really tell they’re dog lovers, they kept me updated with videos and pictures & Jasper looked like he had an absolute ball with George! I had a very happy & tired dog. Would absolutely recommend, thank you again! 🐾”

“Percy had a fantastic time with Patricia and George! They were very knowledgable and provided great care. Communication was excellent and they were very flexible when we had to tweak the pick up/drop off times last minute. Thank you!”

Rebecca made me feel so at ease from the very beginning - it being my first booking on Rover. She kept me informed and updated throughout the sit and I was sent loads of pics showing just how relaxed Tommy was in her care. I booked her again that same week! Will definitely use again and am so glad I found someone I can trust.

Joanna and her bf were wonderful hosts and super lovely. They have an adorable dachshund that’s close to Cosmo’s age too. We met for a play date 2 days earlier to introduce them to one another and it went well. Joanna was also knowledgeable in general Spitz behaviour which made me more comfortable. Cosmo has separation anxiety but she kept him company whilst ensuring she gave him his space when he wanted it. She kept me up to date, sent me photos, and was responsive. Glad Cosmo made new friends and will definitely visit again! 😊

Verity was able to help us out very close to the week we needed her, which was just fantastic. The dogs were excited to see her again after our meet and greet and spent a lovely week with her. Communication was great too. I’m sure our dogs would like to stay with her again!
We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. Natalie looked after our young cocker spaniel beautifully. Communication was excellent throughout. She was quick to respond to messages, reassuring, and kept us fully updated. We came home to a very happy puppy! We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Natalie.

Flora (and Griffin) were absolutely outstanding in the level of care and attention they gave Holly over the Christmas holiday. Holly is normally a very shy and timid dog who takes a while to trust strangers but, in a very short space of time, Flora literally had Holly eating out of her hand. We were so impressed - and relieved!! We were sent tons of short video clips of a happy Holly in various key activities. The house was brilliantly set up for looking after dogs with a lovely garden and high walls. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Flora to anyone anxious to find top quality dog minding. Thank you guys!! Mike, Sarah and Holly

Thank you so much for taking such lovely care of Bitey while I was away! She came home happy and clearly well looked after. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking leaving her the first time, but Annika sends daily updates, which really put my mind at ease. I’m so grateful, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again or recommend you to other dog parents.

Jakub and Luka and their little French Ivy took fantastic care of Louis. You can tell instantly that Jakub and Luka not only love dogs but are also very experienced dog handlers. They are so friendly and relaxed and made me feel very at ease. Louis had a great time. They provided regular updates and I’ve taken away many tips as well on how to improve Louis’s diet and food! I would thoroughly recommend Jakub and I hope to be able to use them again! Gaby

Rebecca was exceptional with our puppy Maple. She had the most wonderful time and returned to us better trained than when we’d left her! We would definitely trust Maple with Rebecca next time we go away, knowing that she’d had a wonderful time in excellent hands!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
