Rebbeca sent photos of Balloo & kept me informed on how Balloo was doing, like all dogs he can get a distracted & little exited when he’s out walking, Rebbeca seemed to know exactly what to do. About: We are a semi retired couple and our beloved black Labrador left us a few years ago. We love dogs and have the time to provide a temporary home - all dogs welcome. We have a big detached house with a secure garden. Our friends all have dogs and regularly call on us to dog sit. We are both mainly retired so have plenty of time on our hands to look after a dog (our adult kids are also dog lovers and would probably come home just to help out. We don’t really have a fixed routine so can provide flexibility if we are around. We are however on holiday a lot so can’t always be always be available. We have a big detached house with a secure garden. If you have a crate you are welcome to provide this alternatively we can throw down a dog bed in a choice of rooms. We have a footpath right outside our front door leading to many adventures.
“Katie is a delightful host, and I would highly recommend her as a Five Star dog sitter. ⭐️ Our dog Hugo was so happy and contented when I picked him up on Sunday; it was like he had found a home from home. 🐶”

“I can’t speak highly enough of Toni, Grace Miriam and the care they showed for our 5 month old lab. We couldn’t have made a better choice in leaving our puppy whilst away for 7 days. They are so passionate and knowledgeable about animals and have helped to train our dog whilst we were away and exceeded our expectations, nothing was ever too much of a problem and we will definitely use there services again in the future.”

About: I am new to Rover however, as a Dachshund owner myself and having had and looked after dogs my whole life, I will provide your pet a safe, warm and loving home whilst you are away. I only accept one Dachshund at a time. I will only have one Dachshund at a time so your pet will have my full care and attention alongside my own pet. I provide day boarding or cover for holidays. I have one miniature Dachshund called Rosie so your pet will always have a gentle play mate to have fun with. I will always try to match your home routine eg breakfast time, length of walks, favourite treats etc so that your sausage will settle and feel at home. I am within a mile of a reputable vet if any medication is needed. A meet and greet is welcomed before you decide to commit to a booking with me. I have a secure fenced large garden and plenty of beautiful countryside on hand if your pet would like additional walks. My house is single storey and there are no areas that your pet is not welcome…even on the couch! I have plenty of toys and bedding but I’m happy for you to bring along whatever you need for your pet to make them feel at home. If required I send pictures and updates whilst you are away so you can relax and enjoy yourself knowing that your pet is having a wonderful time too!!
“Would highly recommend Bryony and Matt. They had Milo for a long weekend and I felt so at ease and comfortable, they treat Milo like he’s their own and kept me updated. Milo gets very excited to them. Thank you x”

Fran and Jamie gave Stark a great break. As a nervous dog we were very pleased with how successful his stay was. Communication leading up to and during was fantastic, quick accurate and always very friendly. We will definitely use again in the future when needed. Thanks guys!

I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention Ana gave our dachshund Winnie. During the meet and greet it was obvious how seriously she would take Winnie’s needs and once we dropped Winnie off we immediately received updates and photos showing how happy and settled Winnie was. It’s amazing to have found someone who takes care of Winnie as though she’s her own!

This was our first time using Rover and leaving Winnie with a sitter overnight, so we were naturally a little nervous. From the moment we met, we felt completely at ease. Winnie was so well looked after, and it was lovely receiving updates while we were away. She came home happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great time. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy sitter. Thank you so much for taking such good care of her!

Rheid looked after my dog, Kiko, for the day and was absolutely brilliant. Rheid was friendly, reliable and clearly very caring. Kiko took a shine to her immediately. Kiko was happy, relaxed and well looked after. Receiving photos of their adventures gave me real peace of mind. I would happily recommend Rheid to anyone looking for kind and trustworthy dog care, and I’d definitely use her again.

I left my Golden Retriever with Lyn for three nights. Before the stay, I exchanged a few messages with her and she always replied promptly. We also had an initial meet-and-greet at her home, where she was very friendly and welcoming. During the stay, Lyn sent daily updates and photos, which I found very reassuring. Most importantly, my dog appeared happy, relaxed and well cared for throughout her stay, and was content when I collected her. I wouldn't hesitate to leave my dog with Lyn again and would happily recommend her to other owners looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Cecily was wonderful with Coby. He connected with her straight away. She is such a lovely person and so lovely for us to work with too. She was very attentive to Coby and kept us up to date. He had a great time with her running around the common in the sunshine! Thank you, Cecily!

Nicola was a great commutator from the start and very accommodating. From the meet and greet I knew Dexter would be happy as both her and her son were obviously dog lovers. On his stay I was sent plenty of photos and videos showing Dexter having lots of lovely walks and curling up having cuddles on the sofa - his perfect day. I’ll definitely use Nicola again and very much recommend her

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
