About: I love animals, especially dogs, and spend a lot of my free time volunteering at local shelters. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and disabilities. Currently I am caring for two dogs with disabilities long term: and elderly French Bulldog with partial paralysis, and a young pittie mix with three legs due to a car accident. These dogs require equal amounts of patience and love when being cared for, as well as extra attention and physical aid with mobility (ex. going up and down stairs) I'm someone who genuinely loves animals, and would do this for free if everything wasn't so expensive now. I will take the time to socialize and get to know your pet so they are comfortable, relaxed, and overjoyed when I arrive. I also have a medical background which makes me very comfortable dealing with pet medications and special needs. I currently work part time with a flexible schedule. This allows me to plan around my clients schedules and ensure I am free to care for your pet almost any day and time. I take care of two disabled dogs full time, they require extra care and attention but you can expect that same level from me when I care for any pet. You can expect me to tailor the experience to your specific doggos needs, to socialize and play with them, and to make sure they're always overjoyed when I stop by. I have good attention to detail and a medical background which allows me to handle any special needs or routines your pet has.

About: I have owner a variety of animals from fish and rodents to three large dogs at once ( 2 huskies and aGerman Shepherd ) . I have also used rover formally to dogsit and walk many sizes and temperaments of dogs. I currently volunteer at the shelter to take dogs out of the kennel for the day and actively pet sit dogs and cats of friends. I have experience working with puppies after raising my German shepherd and another set of four puppies until adoption. I have also worked with senior dogs with dietary restrictions and medication. I am self-employed and an online student at the moment and have more free time that can be flexibly managed. I spend extra hours taking my friends pets on walks or spending time with them while doing work at home. I love to go on walks as I used to own two large and active dogs ! In-house sitting would mean respect for the clients home and their belongings. I also understand that the home is the safe space of the pet and should be treated with care. My priority is the comfort and care of the animal during the time their owners are gone to make sure they are well taken care of and enjoying their time :)!

About: I grew up with dogs. It won't be a customer client relationship. Dogs will be treated as I would treat my family. They will enjoy it company and will love to meet me again. I share a special bonding with dogs and have always loved to be around them. I used to have 2 labradors and one pomeranian when I was 12 and they used to be my best friends. I will be doing this just because I want to spend sometime with dogs and can play with them. I work as a Business system Analyst and have a settled life. I play sports, love biking and hiking and also like to hit gym. Please don't find me rude but if we expect your dog to be poop and pee trained. If your dog poops at home ..we will charge non negotiable 60$. Please contact me for further questions in case have any. ? They are part of my routine and I work from home and it is not hard to take care of them 🙃🙂 . . . We treat them like kids and we follow all safety protocols which you will follow at home to prevent any mishappening. . . . .

About: Hi there! I'm Emily and I can't wait to meet your furry family members! I know how important it is to find someone reliable who treats your pets like their own. Following an 8-year professional career as a public health and safety inspector, I have transitioned into providing premium pet care full time. I bring immaculate sanitation, escape prevention protocols, and expert attention to detail to every single visit. To provide you with total peace of mind, I am also fully covered by private commercial pet care insurance, making your pet’s health and safety my absolute highest priority 💕🐾 I’ve spent my entire life around animals of all shapes and sizes, a passion that started with my family’s decades long legacy of breeding and training Labrador Retrievers. Growing up in that environment gave me a deep, intuitive understanding of dog behavior and a special knack for working with puppies. Having also worked professionally in boarding kennels, I understand the language and temperaments of different breeds and the unique needs of animals while they are away from their families. I am an expert at reinforcing the structure and house rules you already have in place, ensuring your pet stays on the right track during our time together. To keep your pets safe from the intense summer heat, I specialize in premium, climate controlled drop-ins, dog walks, and cat care. Whether it’s tailored indoor enrichment, morning neighborhood strolls, shaded backyard potty breaks, or a cozy afternoon of belly rubs, I’m here to make sure your pet feels completely safe, loved, and entertained while you’re away ❤️ I am currently available all days of the week for drop-ins, dog walking, and house sitting. My availability for busy holiday weekends operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is best to book as soon as possible to ensure your preferred time slots! 🏠 HOUSE SITTING NOTE: I provide dedicated overnight care so your pets enjoy a consistent evening and morning routine while your home remains fully secure. Please note that I do step out in blocks of up to 4 hours during the day to service my routine local clients and check on my own home. Your pets will still receive midday check-ins, walks, and potty breaks in addition to overnight care. This setup is a perfect match for pets who are comfortable with some independent time during the day! 🌿 Complimentary Home & Plant Care: As part of my premium house sitting service, I am meticulous about home security, including managing mail, rotating lights, and operating alarm systems. Additionally, as an experienced plant enthusiast, I am more than happy to provide watering and care for your houseplant collection and yard plants while you are away! 🕣 SHORT-NOTICE POLICY: I pride myself on being reliable and am happy to accommodate requests on short notice to ensure your pets are well cared for. Because these requests require me to adjust my schedule, a convenience fee applies to all bookings made with less than 24 hours notice. Why Choose Me? Uncompromising Safety: Your home and pets are treated with the utmost respect. I meticulously follow all your specific instructions to the letter, from medication schedules and allergy restrictions to securing locks and gates. Smart & Safe Exercise: I am highly proactive about avoiding the hot pavement during the summer heat! For dogs who love to stroll, I happily offer early morning or late evening walks when the temperatures are safe. During the peak heat of the day, we stick to engaging indoor playtime and quick, shaded backyard potty breaks. Constant Connection: I know how hard it is to leave your fur babies behind! Expect thorough visit summaries and plenty of cute photos straight to your phone so you always know exactly how much fun we are having.

I have a flexible schedule allowing me to incorporate walks, playtime, feeding, and any other needs into my routine throughout the week! About: Growing up, I always begged for a pet every chance I got. I have so much love, appreciation, and passion for not only pets but for animals as a whole, and this hasn't changed since I was a kid. In my free time I enjoy playing with my pets and watching animal documentaries. In terms of experience, I am PetTech certified, I am working with a local pet sitting business for over a year now, where I do drop-in visits for dogs and cats, as well as walks and house sitting too! I also previously volunteered with a local animal shelter where I worked with mainly cats and kittens, and dogs on occasion. As a volunteer, my responsibilities mostly included transport, playing with the shelter animals, weighing, and checking in/watching. I currently have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female, that I got as kittens. I have had these cats for about 2 years. In the past, I had a dog for 3 years. My responsibilities with these pets include/included feeding, bathing, playing, walking, cleaning up after, etc. I am not currently working and have reliable transportation. I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to take care of and spend time with your furry friends! I have experience pet sitting in clients' homes before. I am detail oriented and follow the directions left by clients well! I clean up after not only myself but also your furry friends and leave the home as I found it!

Finn did a great job for us watching both of our large dogs. My Bulldog unfortunately got an ear infection a few days before our trip, which put him on multiple medications. I’ll be reaching out to Finn in the future for additional sitter work.

FAQs for House Sitting - South Riding

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in South Riding on Rover is $82.93 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 9,826 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Riding. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Riding walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Riding maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Riding choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Riding. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
