From our first meeting with Perry, we knew our beloved dog and cat were in great hands. Perry was extremely sweet, gentle and thorough caring for our senior dog and spent time getting to know our shy kitty, Eddie. Perry’s communication is excellent. She sent us lots of pictures and videos. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves knowing our dog and cat were not just walked and fed, but loved on. Our home was kept tidy as well. She is definitely on our favorites list!

Our house sitting experience with Liyah was great! She was super communicative, and able to earn the trust of my timid rescue pup. She was more than able to care for my high energy 1yo dog, as well as the two cats. Our house was as clean as we’d left it. Will definitely be using Liyah again in the future ? thank you!

The boys looked happy and relaxed enjoying their time with Steph. She also took care of my hydrangeas that did not like the heat. We will definitely be using her when we are out of town again. This was my second booking with Brooke. Words cannot express how happy and satisfied we are with the love and care that she provides to our fur babies. They were relaxed and happy when we returned home from our trip. They have accepted Brooke has part of our family, so the transition for them when we go out of town is so easy for them. No more stressing for them when they see us taking suitcases downstairs because that means Brooke is coming! Brooke texted me every day sometimes twice a day to update me on them and sent me pictures nearly everyday. Highly recommend Brooke!

She kept me informed by letting me know when she arrived at the house and provided updates throughout the week, which gave me great peace of mind. My puppies were well cared for, and it was clear they were in good hands. She also left the house clean and tidy, which I really appreciated. Abigail was reliable, communicative, and professional. I would definitely use her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.

About: I love animals, especially dogs, and spend a lot of my free time volunteering at local shelters. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and disabilities. Currently I am caring for two dogs with disabilities long term: and elderly French Bulldog with partial paralysis, and a young pittie mix with three legs due to a car accident. These dogs require equal amounts of patience and love when being cared for, as well as extra attention and physical aid with mobility (ex. going up and down stairs) I'm someone who genuinely loves animals, and would do this for free if everything wasn't so expensive now. I will take the time to socialize and get to know your pet so they are comfortable, relaxed, and overjoyed when I arrive. I also have a medical background which makes me very comfortable dealing with pet medications and special needs. I currently work part time with a flexible schedule. This allows me to plan around my clients schedules and ensure I am free to care for your pet almost any day and time. I take care of two disabled dogs full time, they require extra care and attention but you can expect that same level from me when I care for any pet. You can expect me to tailor the experience to your specific doggos needs, to socialize and play with them, and to make sure they're always overjoyed when I stop by. I have good attention to detail and a medical background which allows me to handle any special needs or routines your pet has.

Kenia was absolutely wonderful, and I would book with her again without hesitation. This was my first time having someone stay overnight in my home, so I was naturally a little nervous, but she immediately put me at ease with her communication and professionalism. She respected my home and my space exactly as we discussed, followed every instruction carefully, and even took initiative when appropriate without needing to be asked. She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages, photos, and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Most importantly, Luna was well cared for, happy, and comfortable when I returned. It was clear that Kenia genuinely cared about making sure both my dog and my home were well taken care of. I truly appreciated her thoughtfulness, reliability, and attention to detail. I highly recommend Kenia to anyone looking for a trustworthy, respectful, and caring pet sitter!

I am able to work with people’s crazy schedules and be there for your pets when needed! I care for any ones pets the same way I would care for mine. Always making sure that they are happy, well fed, and walked.

Lorene was wonderful with my boys. She was conscientious about making sure they did not get into trouble while in the backyard as they like to hunt for critters. She said that both of them were perfect gentleman and wonderful Snugglers. They also were very easy when administering their eyedrop’s and other meds. So happy we found Lorene and will be using her again.

I would give Amelia 10 stars if I could. She was so helpful and communicative and her diligence allowed me and my family to completely relax on vacation knowiing our pets and home were in great hands. I could tell when I met her that she is very tuned in to the pets and their nature. She easily bonded with my dog and evey my persnickety kitty was receptive to her. She understoond and responded to both of their unique natures and met them where they are. One note on my dog....he is a 15 yo Cavachon and he has a limp and can only walk short distancs. Amelia was so gentle and understanding making sure he got his outdoor time and walking him in the "stroller" when necessary. She had to give him medication and help him with the stairs and totally read his capabilities so she could help him get the most out of every day. She kept me well informed and took plenty of pics so I could connect with my furbabies from far away. Aside from amazing pet care, she went way above and beyond making my home so clean and beautiful when I returned. She even cleaned out my refrigerator for me which was so kind. I wholeheartedly endorse her and will look forward to having her back next time we travel!

Had a great experience with Sierra for my very needy and loving dog: Maybelline. This was my first time using Rover as I needed a last minute, overnight dog sitter on a holiday weekend and Sierra pulled through. During the time I was gone, she took Maybelline on many walks, cuddled with her, sent lots of updates with photos, videos and information about how she was doing. Sierra put me as ease so that I could focus on my trip without having to worry about my fur baby. Very professional, trustworthy and personalable. Highly recommended and cant wait to have her back!

We had an excellent experience and Tyler was amazing. This was the first time we had someone watch our dog in our home and Barley seemed very happy. She is very anxious when we leave and is reactive to thunder storms and dogs. We were gone a week and there were several storms and her walks took her past several dogs; Tyler handled everything extremely professionally and we came home to calm and happy pup (he left us some guidance for those times, which we will implement). He sent pictures and kept us informed on a daily basis. Tyler was very respectful of our house and we returned to it looking better than when we left. I highly recommend Tyler, without reservation. I look forward to having him watch Barley in the future. Thank you, Tyler - we greatly appreciate all you did for Barley; she misses you :).

Kathryn was such a gem!! She was incredibly responsive, super nice, and very patient with our anxious dog (and me lol as this was the first time we had left our dog with a rover over the weekend) she told me every time she went over and every time she left! She sent me 16 pictures of our fur babies over 3 nights and we enjoyed every single one! It made me feel like I could enjoy my trip knowing they were in great hands! Also my neighbors checked in a couple of time just to make sure everything was going well and my neighbor had nothing but nice things to say about Kathryn as well!

FAQs for House Sitting - Dulles

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Dulles on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 9,952 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dulles. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dulles walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dulles maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dulles choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dulles. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
