About: I have owned my dog for the past 9 years, but sadly lost him to cancer this past year, so I have experience for taking care of elderly sick dogs. I have also taken care of foster dogs of all ages all throughout college! I am entrepreneur and time is super flexible for me. I am able to work with people’s crazy schedules and be there for your pets when needed! I care for any ones pets the same way I would care for mine. Always making sure that they are happy, well fed, and walked.
“Esther took really good care of my pups while I was traveling, kept me informed and sent lots of pictures. Also frequently took them for long walks. Highly recommend her.”

“Darlin was lovely and gave thorough updates, pictures and kept the house very clean and the 3 pets super happy! It’s always nice when you’re away on a trip to get lots of updates and she was amazing at providing lots of photos and updates, can’t say enough good things, highly recommend!”

About: Growing up, I always begged for a pet every chance I got. I have so much love, appreciation, and passion for not only pets but for animals as a whole, and this hasn't changed since I was a kid. In my free time I enjoy playing with my pets and watching animal documentaries. In terms of experience, I am PetTech certified, I am working with a local pet sitting business for over a year now, where I do drop-in visits for dogs and cats, as well as walks and house sitting too! I also previously volunteered with a local animal shelter where I worked with mainly cats and kittens, and dogs on occasion. As a volunteer, my responsibilities mostly included transport, playing with the shelter animals, weighing, and checking in/watching. I currently have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female, that I got as kittens. I have had these cats for about 2 years. In the past, I had a dog for 3 years. My responsibilities with these pets include/included feeding, bathing, playing, walking, cleaning up after, etc. I am not currently working and have reliable transportation. I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to take care of and spend time with your furry friends! I have experience pet sitting in clients' homes before. I am detail oriented and follow the directions left by clients well! I clean up after not only myself but also your furry friends and leave the home as I found it!

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was little, I’ve always got along with animals and know how to contain their messes and accidents. This will be my only job in this current moment! I am very flexible and open to chatting about any arrangements. We can always try to work something out around your schedule! I try to keep a constant eye on all animals to ensure their safety and enjoyment! I always keep them entertained or snuggle up with them!

“Rosemary was a legit godsend. She was amazing and I'm so happy I found her. My situation was very unique and she took it in stride. But the main thing was she helped my dogs feel comfortable and loved in a brand new house. She sent so many photos which helped ease my mind. Then she left my house super clean. I couldn't even tell she had been there. I will hire her again and recommend her to all my fellow dog people.”

“Stephanie did did a fantasctic job. Midnight was well cared and the house was immaculate when we returned. We look foward to having Stephanie cat/house sit in the future.”

“Desi was truly a blessing. She was incredibly attentive, communicative, and kind. We were gone for a week abroad and she sent us pictures every time our dog was walked and fed. She also gave our dog lots of attention and watered our plants! If you are looking for a caring and mature pet sitter, look no further than Desi!”

About: I love animals, especially dogs, and spend a lot of my free time volunteering at local shelters. I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and disabilities. Currently I am caring for two dogs with disabilities long term: and elderly French Bulldog with partial paralysis, and a young pittie mix with three legs due to a car accident. These dogs require equal amounts of patience and love when being cared for, as well as extra attention and physical aid with mobility (ex. going up and down stairs) I'm someone who genuinely loves animals, and would do this for free if everything wasn't so expensive now. I will take the time to socialize and get to know your pet so they are comfortable, relaxed, and overjoyed when I arrive. I also have a medical background which makes me very comfortable dealing with pet medications and special needs. I currently work part time with a flexible schedule. This allows me to plan around my clients schedules and ensure I am free to care for your pet almost any day and time. I take care of two disabled dogs full time, they require extra care and attention but you can expect that same level from me when I care for any pet. You can expect me to tailor the experience to your specific doggos needs, to socialize and play with them, and to make sure they're always overjoyed when I stop by. I have good attention to detail and a medical background which allows me to handle any special needs or routines your pet has.
“We had a great experience with Bruno watching our two dogs. Very easy to communicate with and definitely understands dogs, so we had no concerns. Will happily book again for overnight or walks!”

“We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter! Kyle provided regular updates that were not only informative but made us laugh. He took our pups on plenty of walks, even in the rain, and gave our shy kitties lots of love as well. We highly recommend Kyle and will definitely be reaching out again in the future!”

About: I grew up with a yellow Labrador for 14 years, so caring for dogs has been a constant part of my life. I have experience with daily walks and playtime to vet visits, feeding routines, and the patience that comes with care for both puppies and senior dogs. I genuinely enjoy being around dogs of all sizes and personalities, and will treat your dog like they're my own. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly schedule and is something I can easily prioritize. I currently work part-time as a swim instructor and coach, but my schedule is very flexible outside of that. I'm generally available on weekdays except for 4-6 pm, and I am unavailable Sunday mornings from 9-12:30. Outside of those hours, I have plenty of time for walks, drop-ins, playtime, and care throughout the day. Since I just graduated college, I have a lot of flexibility right now and enjoy structuring my day around being active and outdoors. I will prioritize keeping your dog's routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I will follow all instructions closely and understand how important familiarity is for pets, so I will aim to maintain their normal environment and habits to help them feel comfortable and secure while you are away.
“I was nervous to use Rover as i have had the same pet sitter for 10+ years. Eden put my worries to rest very quickly. She was extremely professional and very kind from the very first meet and greet visit. She sent pictures and updates throughout my trip. I will be using her in the future when we travel again.”

“Gabriela was a great house sitter for our energetic Aussie pup. Good communication, she sent us lots of pics. and kept him active and well exercised the entire week of our trip and everything was nocely in order when we arrived home. Would definitely recommend her!”

Alianna did a fantastic job house sitting for our golden retriever. She took extra care of him while he was recovering from injury, providing frequent ongoing updates to us on her visits as well as pics of our fur baby. Thanks for being so thoughtful and responsive!

Jake was great! Inde seemed to really enjoy her time with him. We received updates while we were away, as well as pictures. Our apartment was also left completely clean. Will absolutely be booking him again in the future. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a sitter.

Amy is amazing! Our dogs did not even know we were away with all of the love and attention they got from Amy while we were away! From the long walks, and fun indoor games when the weather wasn’t great, Amy took so much care to make sure they were happy in our absence. The photo and text updates were frequent, so we were able to stay connected while we were away. Amy is incredible!!!

Jaelen took amazing care of our sweet Lana (11 year old goldendoodle) and also took amazing care of our home. We never had to worry about anything and were able to enjoy our trip knowing our sweet old girl was in good hands. Thank you so much Jaelen, from Carl, Jackie, Lily, and especially Lana!
This was our first time not using a family member to watch our dog and Kayla was truly amazing! She came to our home to meet our dog before spending the week with him to make sure he was comfortable with her. Not only did she keep our mind at ease with updates and pictures throughout the week, but she spend quality time with our dog and gave exceptional love and care like he was one of her own. We are so appreciative of her and her wonderful care and would 100% recommend her to anyone.

Finn did a great job for us watching both of our large dogs. My Bulldog unfortunately got an ear infection a few days before our trip, which put him on multiple medications. He was able to administer both the oral and topical medications without issue. We were able to relax on vacation because we knew our dogs were in good hands. I’ll be reaching out to Finn in the future for additional sitter work.

I was nervous to use Rover as i have had the same pet sitter for 10+ years. Eden put my worries to rest very quickly. She was extremely professional and very kind from the very first meet and greet visit. She sent pictures and updates throughout my trip. I will be using her in the future when we travel again.

Beth is a wonderful pet sitter. She stays at our condo with our 2 dogs. We have used her multiple times and for some longer (2 weeks) trips. The dogs are always happy to see her and I know they get lots of attention and love. Beth goes beyond expectations with communication- she replies quickly and always puts our mind at ease. We highly recommend Beth.

Emely is a very passionate dog person and I highly recommend her. Unfortunately she will more than likely become aggressively sought after this review but Bleu and I saw her first. Bleu loves her which warms my heart 💙 💜. Thank you Emely for being there for us.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Arcola on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Arcola walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Arcola maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Arcola choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
