Pet care is my happy place! I begin early and end late. I am available to come to your home to discuss any schedule changes you may need. We are a team and I want my pet parents as happy as their pets. Please note that the welfare of the pets I care for during my petsits are the most important to me - the pet before you, or even your pet, may require additional time usually up to 15 minutes. I do not charge for this time - it's not the pup or kitty's fault! but they deserve to be clean and healthy before I leave. If more time than 15 minutes is required, I will go back after my next petsit to care for them. As always, I communicate and can be reached!

Something important to know about me is that I am extremely protective and meticulous in my care of animals. I have never had an animal get into places, food or medications they were not supposed to, run out the door, get lost, forget to lock the door, etc. This simply does not happen because I treat them as if they were own family members. I am as vigilant as if I were caring for your human child. **Please see Specialty Services in the "Important to know about their pets ahead of time" section
Information Amy T. would like to know about your pet
It’s important that fur-babies, like children, be kept on the routine that they’re used to. It fosters the feeling of safety and wellbeing. We can discuss very detailed information to ensure that special care, medication, etc is followed exactly. I am also happy to share any knowledge I have if you seek advice or assistance with difficulties or challenges you may be having. We can certainly work on things, that we discuss, while you’re away. As a preventative measure, I require the information on your primary care vet and preferred emergency clinic. ***My ADVANCED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE: - Senior, special-needs, disabled pets - Knowledgeable and experienced with chronic conditions - Hospice care and support - Pre-surgical, post-surgical care and monitoring - Administration of oral medication, topical treatments, injections, cleaning and bandaging - Evaluations for guidance, training, ongoing support i.e., destructive behavior, new pet introductions or social interactions.
A typical day
My goal is to care for yours as I would mine and make their time with me a happy one! A typical day varies just as each pet is different. Many factors depend on your pet’s and their routine and needs. I believe that there are many opportunities to enhance their time with me and I’m open to suggestions as well. For extended visits I have a pup pool, frozen treats, and a lot of experience in pawsitive training with games and rewards! I can also help with bringing in packages, mail, trash cans, etc. if you would like. For daily walks I bring a water bowl and a cooler full of bottled water for each walk!

Pet care experience
Everyone who knows me will tell you that I have an incredible love and passion for my family life centered around children and fur-babies. I have been been caring for and rescuing animals for over 30 years. During that time I’ve worked with many rescues and local organizations to provide loving care to foster, rehabilitate, and adopt out hundreds of many cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, etc. I have worked with feral cats in clinics to fix, vet and release. I helped out with the Mason Cat Coalition at George Mason University. I have had a few hundred cats/kittens puppies/dogs and everything in between over the years. I vetted, cared for or nursed back to health many. Most found forever homes, however for many animals, a few adopted me and my home! I am notorious keeping the unadoptable ones! I genuinely care and love above all else. Something important to know about me is that I am extremely meticulous in my care of animals. I have never had an animal get into places, food or medications they were not supposed to, run out the door, get lost, forget to lock the door, etc. This simply does not happen because I treat them as if they were own family members. I am as vigilant as if I were watching your human child. I have experience in providing care for large all the way down to very small animals, seniors, babies and everything in between including some reptiles, hermit crabs, rabbits, small rodents, etc. I’m very patient and calm, which works well with seniors, or animals with special needs including the, administration of medication, or injections. During my visits I also offer free basic training and/or behavioral advice for dogs and cats. I am normally that go-to animal person that other pet care providers go to for questions.

Reviews

We had an excellent experience and would absolutely book with Amy again! She was incredibly attentive, communicative, and genuinely cared for our dogs. Our senior Lab has some special needs, and she handled everything with so much patience, compassion, and attention to detail, which gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. She truly went above and beyond to make sure both of our dogs were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. It was clear they were in great hands. We came home to two happy pups, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable!

Amy is the best dog sitter. She is attentive, communicates well, is punctual, and the best thing is that she will love your pets as much as you do (for real!!!!) in your absence. She is the first dog sitter I have met who is actually here because she loves this job. Thank you so much for everything you did while we were away, Amy! Flapjack and Figment thank you, too!

Amy is absolutely, hands-down, the best pet sitter we have ever met in 30 years! Let me be clear: we have met some great dog sitters. However, Amy has raised the bar so high, I don't think we can ever go with anyone else. I mean, if Amy isn't available, then we probably won't travel. Amy showed up on time. She walked the dogs for hours and hours during the week we were gone. I would love to know the mile count for how many miles she walked the dogs because it has got to be up there! I was nervous about the heat/weather conditions for our senior Lab, and also for the big guy with a thick undercoat. Amy had so many solutions to work around the heat. On the days it was too hot (in the 90's), she entertained them in the shade of the backyard and with mental stimulation games, too. My dogs were so well-exercised and tended to, that they didn't even have time to miss us! This is coming from someone who is always on the verge of backing out of a vacation where the dogs aren't coming because I miss them so much. Our two pups were so loved in our absence that I spent nary a moment worrying about their well-being. This is a first! Amy also kept highly detailed notes (with a lighthearted, whimsical prose) that captured their daily adventures. The photos she sent matched the writing, so that I could see everything that they saw on their walks. I have no idea how Amy managed to walk two large dogs and keep record of everything through photos! Everything from their long strolls around the local trails, the sniffing, the squirrel hunts, the friends they saw along the path....it was clear my dogs were having the best staycation of their lives. Amy was quick to respond and always kept me abreast of everything going on back home while we were away. For instance, one night, our new dog was scared because someone had been shooting fireworks. We did not know (yet) that he was scared of fireworks, so this was news to us. Amy said that she kept him company, and kept a very close eye on him, until the fireworks ended. She also kept our senior dog safe from the big boy's zoomies and bursts of energy. There is so much more I could say, but this is already too long. If you are still reading, Amy is also super conscientious of your home. She kept the dog bowls cleaner than we ever do, and she wiped down counters and tidied up the dog toy space. This is so far above and beyond what we hired her to do. She is such a gem. Oh, and last thing: she is so sweet and so pleasant. I highly recommend this sitter. You will never go back to anyone else!

Amy was great! Extremely communicative and was on top of everything especially given that one of our cats is elderly. Could not recommend her more.
