“Monique was a great sitter! She asked questions, followed the pet/house sitting instructions I left and communicated timely. She sent daily updates with pictures and gave Heidi lots of love. I would definitely it book her again.”

“Jaida was fantastic! She stepped in last minute to help with a house sit for our pup and even managed to fit in a meet and greet beforehand. Our anxious dog took to her right away and even slept with her in the guest room which isn’t her norm so I assume she really liked Jaida! Jaida also sent some super cute pics and left our house in great condition. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for pet care and hope she can sit for our dog again in the future!”

About: I’ve been taking care of both my own and my neighbor’s dogs since I was 8, and currently have two dogs of my own, including a senior lab- I understand senior dog care. I go to Penn state and am doing this to save money towards tuition. I’m local to Ashburn and am able to swing by any time I’m needed, which makes working with your animals much more convenient for you. I offer long walks, personalized playtime, and am always open to work with accommodations you may need. I’m willing to spend the night and keep your animals company.
“Esther took really good care of my pups while I was traveling, kept me informed and sent lots of pictures. Also frequently took them for long walks. Highly recommend her.”

“This was my first time booking with Melinda and she exceeded all our needs, especially when my dog had a bad day health wise. I took the longest vacation in my adult life and overseas as well, she gave me peace of mind I needed to enjoy my trip. 1000% would rebook and recommend her wholeheartedly.”

About: I have taken care of, sat, and walked other dogs not just my own dogs for almost 10 years. I love dogs of all kinds! As someone who tries to maintain a balanced schedule, pet care is something I like to do when I have the free time during my day. I love giving my own dogs walks and I try to walk them at least once a day. Depending on what your rules are, I will respect and honor what you wish for me to do with your dog. I like to make sure that dogs are in the safest environment as well as being loved.
“Allegra was amazing!! Probably the best dog sitter we've ever had. Very communicative, flexible, and on top of things (plus my dogs loved her). If you want to have a stress-free time, you should totally hire Allegra to watch your pets. I know that if I ever need a sitter in the future, she is going to be who I go to first.”

“We are so fortunate to have found Kalpana on Rover! She took excellent care of our two dogs, (and also our home) for 9 days. The pups were happy and enjoyed nice twice daily walks, backyard play and snuggles. Kalley took care of their feeding including a daily med for one dog. It was clear that the dogs were totally comfortable and happy with her and she spent a lot of quality time with them. We didn't need to worry about package deliveries, trash day, or watering plants - those were taken care of. Kalley left our home immaculate, even washing sheets and making up the bed fresh. We definitely plan to use Kalley again when dog-/house-sitting comes up again.”

“Ali communicated really well and sent us pictures of Jackson over the two days. She even took Jackson for a car ride, which he loves! She also put the sheets and towels in the washer from the bed she stayed in, which was really helpful and much appreciated!!”

“Brooke is FANTASTIC! I this is my first solo ROVER AND I AM THRILLED! I loved getting the daily photos and updates. My boy is older and not used to being without his family at all. Brooke was so kind and made me feel so much better! Thank you Brooke!!”

About: I've been a cat parent all my life, and all-around animal lover. Now, I have two dogs (Damon and Matcha) and two kitties at home, all rescues. About half the time, I also volunteer to foster puppies that need homes, so I'm very experienced with dogs of all ages. Serving the Sterling area; I live across the street from Claude Moore park and love to explore the trails with four-legged friends. Summertime makes for the most gorgeous pictures, and I love capturing your fur babies on camera! I love all breeds, especially if they have good manners, but larger and more playful dogs will have the best time playing with my 3-year-old dog, Matcha. Caring for fur-babies is currently my full-time job, whether that's customers, fosters, or my own brood. I love all size dogs and cats! Most of the time, when I come into your home, your animals will let me know what their routine is! But specific instructions will help me out a lot too and are always appreciated.
About: I have experience as a groomer, walker for large working breeds as well as administering medications and post surgery care. I am no stranger to bites and scratches. Pet care is my full time job alongside working as a dmv actor. My schedule is typically extremely flexible and I can work around your needs. I take pride in providing loving, reliable care for pets in the comfort of their own homes, where they feel safest and most relaxed. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, so I take the time to follow each owner’s instructions carefully—from feeding schedules and walks to administering medications, playtime, and cuddle sessions. I also treat every home with the utmost respect, keeping it clean and secure while providing regular updates and photos for peace of mind. Whether I’m caring for an energetic puppy, a senior dog, or an independent cat, my goal is to make sure your pet feels comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you’re away, so you can travel with confidence knowing they’re in good hands.

About: Growing up, I always begged for a pet every chance I got. I have so much love, appreciation, and passion for not only pets but for animals as a whole, and this hasn't changed since I was a kid. In my free time I enjoy playing with my pets and watching animal documentaries. In terms of experience, I am PetTech certified, I am working with a local pet sitting business for over a year now, where I do drop-in visits for dogs and cats, as well as walks and house sitting too! I also previously volunteered with a local animal shelter where I worked with mainly cats and kittens, and dogs on occasion. As a volunteer, my responsibilities mostly included transport, playing with the shelter animals, weighing, and checking in/watching. I currently have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female, that I got as kittens. I have had these cats for about 2 years. In the past, I had a dog for 3 years. My responsibilities with these pets include/included feeding, bathing, playing, walking, cleaning up after, etc. I am not currently working and have reliable transportation. I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to take care of and spend time with your furry friends! I have experience pet sitting in clients' homes before. I am detail oriented and follow the directions left by clients well! I clean up after not only myself but also your furry friends and leave the home as I found it!

Here’s a polished version of your review: If I could give Esther more than five stars, I absolutely would. She went above and beyond in every possible way and exceeded every expectation we had. From the very beginning, she was meticulous about following every instruction and genuinely seemed to enjoy spending time with both of our dogs—our energetic 1-year-old and our sweet 13-year-old senior. Our younger dog is currently training to become a therapy dog, so it was incredibly important to us that his training and routine were maintained while we were away. At the same time, our senior dog needed someone who would be mindful of his age and keep him safe, comfortable, and happy during the summer heat. Esther handled both of their very different needs flawlessly. We’ve used other dog sitters in the past who did the bare minimum, which always left us worrying about our dogs instead of enjoying our vacation. This experience was completely different. For the first time, I was truly able to relax because I knew our boys were not just being cared for—they were having the week of their lives. Whether they were going on walks, enjoying backyard adventures, or cuddling up for a movie or a nap, it was obvious they were loved and cared for as if they were her own. Esther’s communication was outstanding. She sent thoughtful updates, photos, and videos throughout the week, and each one brought us so much joy and reassurance while we were away. We never had to wonder how they were doing because she kept us informed every step of the way. We came home to two happy, relaxed dogs, and that says everything. We are beyond grateful for the exceptional care Esther provided and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and genuinely passionate about caring for animals. We hope to have her watch our boys again and again!

Ellie was a wonderful sitter. We were a little worried at first, as Ellie is younger than the usual sitters we have, but she surpassed our expectations! Both our cat and dog were very relaxed; Ellie ensured that both our pets were comfortable. It's tough enough to manage one pet, so the fact that Ellie was able to manage both our pets together proves her competence. We will definitely be hiring Ellie again in the very near future 🐶😺

Polly is wonderful with Lenny. She understands his wishes to run away and keeps him close and tight so he is safe. They had happy walks together Lenny enjoyed Polly’s son who even had Lenny singing/howling with him. I love having Lenny stay with Polly. I know he will be safe and happy
Beth is a wonderful pet sitter. She stays at our condo with our 2 dogs. We have used her multiple times and for some longer (2 weeks) trips. The dogs are always happy to see her and I know they get lots of attention and love. Beth goes beyond expectations with communication- she replies quickly and always puts our mind at ease. We highly recommend Beth.

We were extremely nervous about leaving our high energy 90 lb dog and our spoiled princess of a cat for our 12 day vacation. Sophia is responsible, smart, energetic, and patient. She sent numerous pictures and updates daily which really allowed us to relax knowing the animals were doing well. Sophia was very communicative via text keeping us informed of their eating habits and activities. Both animals thrived under Sophia’s care! She started out as our pet sitter but honestly feels now like she’s part of our family.

Amulya, was so helpful when our other sitter had to cancel at the last minute. She took great care of our senior doggie. I felt at ease leaving Robin with Amulya. She sent lots of pictures and communicated with me throughout our time away. She made Robin comfortable and even carried her up the stairs when she struggled bc of her arthritis. She is not a small dog. Amulya is super kind and I will not hesitate to use her in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Waxpool on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 9,642 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Waxpool. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waxpool walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waxpool maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waxpool choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
