“Another amazing booking with Monique! Our puppy and cat were so excited to have her back! She went above and beyond when she left and put her sheets in the wash, emptied all the trash cans and put away all the dishes. She also vacuumed and tidied up the house. She is very respectful of your home and very responsible with your pets. Our cat spent the next few days after we returned going into the guest room to look for Monique. I know he will be very happy when she comes back for another vacation booking :-)”

“Esther was great! I can’t recommend her enough. She sent me plenty of pictures and videos so I knew Lola was okay and having a great time. Can’t wait to work with her again and I know Lola feels the same.”

“Emma house sat and watched our dogs while we were out of town for 5 days. We had never used a house sitter before, and we were a little worried about the experience. Emma got ill with a virus the day we were supposed to depart. She could have cancelled at the last minute leaving us in a very difficult bind, but she did not. Although things did not go as smoothly as they would if she were well, she persevered and took care of our dogs and our house. Our rescued street dogs do not do well in the kennel so the house-sitting experience was positive for them. We will use Emma again!”

“Allegra was amazing!! Probably the best dog sitter we've ever had. Very communicative, flexible, and on top of things (plus my dogs loved her). If you want to have a stress-free time, you should totally hire Allegra to watch your pets. I know that if I ever need a sitter in the future, she is going to be who I go to first.”

About: I love taking care of dogs, i’m very patient and understanding. I pay attention to detail and am very respectful of your house and dogs. I’m a college student athlete and I am currently on summer break so I’m available full-time and can work on weekends to fit your schedule. I love my dogs. I spend time with them daily and go on daily walks. I enjoy feeding and giving them treats and am flexible to any rules.

About: I have taken care of, sat, and walked other dogs not just my own dogs for almost 10 years. I love dogs of all kinds! As someone who tries to maintain a balanced schedule, pet care is something I like to do when I have the free time during my day. I love giving my own dogs walks and I try to walk them at least once a day. Depending on what your rules are, I will respect and honor what you wish for me to do with your dog. I like to make sure that dogs are in the safest environment as well as being loved.
“Kalley stepped in after our usual sitter had to cancel. She took wonderful care of our senior/blind dog and kept us up to date. She left our house without a trace and even came back to check on our dog since she knew we’d be home late! Thanks for everything!!”

About: I’ve been taking care of both my own and my neighbor’s dogs since I was 8, and currently have two dogs of my own, including a senior lab- I understand senior dog care. I go to Penn state and am doing this to save money towards tuition. I’m local to Ashburn and am able to swing by any time I’m needed, which makes working with your animals much more convenient for you. I offer long walks, personalized playtime, and am always open to work with accommodations you may need. I’m willing to spend the night and keep your animals company.
“Arabella was great with our girls and made sure they were loved while we were away. She sent tons of pictures and made us comfortable being away from them and will absolutely hire her again!”

“This was my first time booking with Melinda and she exceeded all our needs, especially when my dog had a bad day health wise. I took the longest vacation in my adult life and overseas as well, she gave me peace of mind I needed to enjoy my trip. 1000% would rebook and recommend her wholeheartedly.”

About: I have owned my dog for the past 9 years, but sadly lost him to cancer this past year, so I have experience for taking care of elderly sick dogs. I have also taken care of foster dogs of all ages all throughout college! I am entrepreneur and time is super flexible for me. I am able to work with people’s crazy schedules and be there for your pets when needed! I care for any ones pets the same way I would care for mine. Always making sure that they are happy, well fed, and walked.

“Ellie was a wonderful sitter. We were a little worried at first, as Ellie is younger than the usual sitters we have, but she surpassed our expectations! Both our cat and dog were very relaxed; Ellie ensured that both our pets were comfortable. It's tough enough to manage one pet, so the fact that Ellie was able to manage both our pets together proves her competence. We will definitely be hiring Ellie again in the very near future 🐶😺”

“Almendra was wonderful. Bernese Mountain dog- Wilbur- and Samoyed puppy-Charlotte loved her. She was communicative and asked thoughtful questions to ensure the pups were well taken care of!”

About: I grew up with dogs and cats and have taken care of both dogs and cats. I've pet-sitted, taken friends', families' dogs and cats in my own home and also stayed in their homes to care for their animals. My former kitty developed kidney disease so I learned how to give fluids and do medication. And my most recent kitty had megacolon. I tried diet and medication and then had her colon removed after she stopped improving. She did very well for 6 months but recently died, from a sudden stroke (a saddle thrombosis). I am still sad. I connect with dogs (and cats) very well. I am an animal person and love being around animals. I am also in great physical shape so can walk, play, groom dogs. I am good with animals and treat them like people. I give lots of affection. I am extremely organized and responsible and also can follow an animal's routine. I am good with communicating with owners. I am especially good with cats (because I just had a wonderful kitty who died at the age of 16) and feel I speak their language. I am also good with dogs, just haven't had a dog in a number of years. I've had to now take care of two sick kitties so know how to do medication (compound liquids and sub-q fluids). I am very knowledgeable about cat health, nutrition and learned the hard way of what isn't great for kitties (only dry diet). As of now, I have no animals in the house. I miss my favorite companions. I can host cats now - board them here so the owners know they get lots of care, play time while they are gone. I am a software developer and work full-time remotely, at home. I have flexibility to either do drop-in visits or can have cats in my home. Usually one cat at a time but I'd consider 2 if they are from the same family. I will prioritize boarding clients - meaning I won't take drop-in visits when I am boarding a kitty (or kitties from same family). I have a safe home with spots for kitty litter separate from food and water. Cats are welcomed anywhere in the house (except on kitchen counters, stove, table)

About: I grew up with a yellow Labrador for 14 years, so caring for dogs has been a constant part of my life. I have experience with daily walks and playtime to vet visits, feeding routines, and the patience that comes with care for both puppies and senior dogs. I genuinely enjoy being around dogs of all sizes and personalities, and will treat your dog like they're my own. Pet care fits naturally into my weekly schedule and is something I can easily prioritize. I currently work part-time as a swim instructor and coach, but my schedule is very flexible outside of that. I'm generally available on weekdays except for 4-6 pm, and I am unavailable Sunday mornings from 9-12:30. Outside of those hours, I have plenty of time for walks, drop-ins, playtime, and care throughout the day. Since I just graduated college, I have a lot of flexibility right now and enjoy structuring my day around being active and outdoors. I will prioritize keeping your dog's routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I will follow all instructions closely and understand how important familiarity is for pets, so I will aim to maintain their normal environment and habits to help them feel comfortable and secure while you are away.
“Beth stayed at my house and cared for my senior yellow lab, Shadow, for 5 days. She was very responsive with her communications which I really appreciated. My dog was well taken care of and seemed relaxed and happy when I got back. I would definitely have her watch Shadow again. Thanks Beth.”

Esther is amazing! She took such compassionate, attentive care of our dog Lua, who was recovering from having eight teeth removed and two mast cell tumors removed. She handled everything with great attention to detail — you can tell she genuinely cares. Lua adores her, which says it all. Highly recommend!

Ellie was a wonderful sitter. We will definitely be hiring Ellie again in the very near future 🐶😺

Polly is wonderful with Lenny. She understands his wishes to run away and keeps him close and tight so he is safe. They had happy walks together Lenny enjoyed Polly’s son who even had Lenny singing/howling with him. I love having Lenny stay with Polly. I know he will be safe and happy
Beth is a wonderful pet sitter. She stays at our condo with our 2 dogs. We have used her multiple times and for some longer (2 weeks) trips. The dogs are always happy to see her and I know they get lots of attention and love. Beth goes beyond expectations with communication- she replies quickly and always puts our mind at ease. We highly recommend Beth.

We were extremely nervous about leaving our high energy 90 lb dog and our spoiled princess of a cat for our 12 day vacation. Sophia is responsible, smart, energetic, and patient. She sent numerous pictures and updates daily which really allowed us to relax knowing the animals were doing well. Sophia was very communicative via text keeping us informed of their eating habits and activities. Both animals thrived under Sophia’s care! She started out as our pet sitter but honestly feels now like she’s part of our family.

Preston was able to house sit my two dogs on short notice, has stellar communication skills, and made me feel at ease from initial contact throughout the stay. He sent regular updates, my dogs were very well taken care of, and he left the house in better shape than when he arrived. I can’t thank Preston enough and my dogs look forward to seeing him again!
Amulya, was so helpful when our other sitter had to cancel at the last minute. She took great care of our senior doggie. I felt at ease leaving Robin with Amulya. She sent lots of pictures and communicated with me throughout our time away. She made Robin comfortable and even carried her up the stairs when she struggled bc of her arthritis. She is not a small dog. Amulya is super kind and I will not hesitate to use her in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - Waxpool
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Waxpool on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 9,642 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Waxpool. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Waxpool walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Waxpool maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Waxpool choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Waxpool. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
