Jaida was fantastic! She stepped in last minute to help with a house sit for our pup and even managed to fit in a meet and greet beforehand. Our anxious dog took to her right away and even slept with her in the guest room which isn’t her norm so I assume she really liked Jaida! Jaida also sent some super cute pics and left our house in great condition. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for pet care and hope she can sit for our dog again in the future!

We are so fortunate to have found Kalpana on Rover! She took excellent care of our two dogs, (and also our home) for 9 days. The pups were happy and enjoyed nice twice daily walks, backyard play and snuggles. Kalley took care of their feeding including a daily med for one dog. It was clear that the dogs were totally comfortable and happy with her and she spent a lot of quality time with them. We didn't need to worry about package deliveries, trash day, or watering plants - those were taken care of. Kalley left our home immaculate, even washing sheets and making up the bed fresh. We definitely plan to use Kalley again when dog-/house-sitting comes up again.

Allegra was amazing!! Probably the best dog sitter we've ever had. Very communicative, flexible, and on top of things (plus my dogs loved her). If you want to have a stress-free time, you should totally hire Allegra to watch your pets. I know that if I ever need a sitter in the future, she is going to be who I go to first.

About: I've been a cat parent all my life, and all-around animal lover. Now, I have two dogs (Damon and Matcha) and two kitties at home, all rescues. About half the time, I also volunteer to foster puppies that need homes, so I'm very experienced with dogs of all ages. Serving the Sterling area; I live across the street from Claude Moore park and love to explore the trails with four-legged friends. Summertime makes for the most gorgeous pictures, and I love capturing your fur babies on camera! I love all breeds, especially if they have good manners, but larger and more playful dogs will have the best time playing with my 3-year-old dog, Matcha. Caring for fur-babies is currently my full-time job, whether that's customers, fosters, or my own brood. I love all size dogs and cats! Most of the time, when I come into your home, your animals will let me know what their routine is! But specific instructions will help me out a lot too and are always appreciated.

About: I’ve volunteered at the local animal shelter with dogs and cats for 6 years and assist with their programs, helped foster kittens, petsit neighborhood families for 5 years My schedule is flexible! I’m nannying this summer Monday-Friday at 12pm-4pm. I’m in my senior year of high school so I currently get out at 3pm, but my last day is June 3rd. I have a 2 year old Labrador, 5 year old main coon cat, and 11 year old orange tabby cat. I take my dog out on long walks and we like to go on hikes together. My cats are very playful so we spend a lot of time together trying out new toys.

About: Hi everyone! My name is Courtney, and I’ve lived in Northern Virginia for many years. I’ve been surrounded by dogs my entire life and have always had a passion for caring for animals. My experience includes caring for family pets, pet sitting throughout middle and high school, volunteering with animal rescue organizations, fostering dogs and puppies, working as a doggy daycare attendant, and working as a dog bather at a pet resort. I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and personalities, so I’m comfortable adapting to each pet’s unique needs. I was also a Rover sitter a few years ago before my account became inactive, so I’m excited to be back! I know how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member, and I treat every pet like my own. My goal is to provide dependable, loving care while keeping your pet happy, comfortable, and safe in their own home. I look forward to meeting you and your best friend! A quick note: I have a wonderful 4-year-old son who may accompany me during house-sitting stays. He has been around dogs his entire life and is very gentle, respectful, and understands how to interact with animals appropriately. He’s never had any issues with dogs and knows to always respect their space and follow my guidance. Of course, I’ll only accept bookings where clients are comfortable with this arrangement, and your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give your pet plenty of attention throughout the day. I work around their routine to ensure they receive consistent care, exercise, companionship, and lots of love while you’re away. My goal is to keep their day as normal and stress-free as possible. When caring for pets in your home, I do my best to keep them on their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I’ll follow your instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and any special care your pet needs. I’ll also make sure your home is respected and kept clean, bring in mail or packages if requested, water plants, and provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: I have taken care of, sat, and walked other dogs not just my own dogs for almost 10 years. I love dogs of all kinds! As someone who tries to maintain a balanced schedule, pet care is something I like to do when I have the free time during my day. I love giving my own dogs walks and I try to walk them at least once a day. Depending on what your rules are, I will respect and honor what you wish for me to do with your dog. I like to make sure that dogs are in the safest environment as well as being loved.

We've had Hilary stay with our 105-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback at our house several times now, and this was the second time she watched him while we were traveling overseas. Leaving for an international trip is stressful enough, so having someone we completely trust made a huge difference. She always follows our care instructions, takes great care of our dog, and keeps us updated with messages and photos throughout the stay. She's quick to respond, flexible if plans change, and always treats our home with respect. We never have to worry about either our dog or our house when she's there. The biggest sign of how great she is is how much our dog loves her. During one night while we were away, a storm came through, and he was scared. Instead of pacing around the house, he wanted to sleep in the bedroom with her, which says a lot about how comfortable and safe he feels with her. We feel completely at ease leaving both our dog and our home in her care. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely caring sitter.

We have had Rachel watch our two dogs at our house a couple times now and I really couldn’t say enough good things about our experiences with her. One of our dogs is mostly blind in one eye and needs multiple rounds of medications/eye drops which she has been able to give him without issue. We are so grateful for the ease we feel while we are away when she is watching them, knowing they are in good hands!

Ellie was a wonderful sitter. We were a little worried at first, as Ellie is younger than the usual sitters we have, but she surpassed our expectations! Both our cat and dog were very relaxed; Ellie ensured that both our pets were comfortable. It's tough enough to manage one pet, so the fact that Ellie was able to manage both our pets together proves her competence. We will definitely be hiring Ellie again in the very near future 🐶😺

FAQs for House Sitting - Ashburn Junction

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ashburn Junction on Rover is $42.49 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 9,628 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ashburn Junction. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashburn Junction walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashburn Junction maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashburn Junction choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ashburn Junction. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
