Professional walker, sitter & lover

Hey! Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. I am a lifelong dog lover, having owned small medium and large breeds since childhood and throughout my life. From Dachshunds, to Dalmatians, to Great Danes and Rhodesians, I have vast experience with all dog sizes and strengths; As well as the psychology and temperament that accompanies each breed, and the necessary handling and demeanor. The time spent as a Veterinary technicians assistant in college means I'm also familiar with some basic dog first aid (doggy first aid kit with me), as well as know what to look for and asist in order to make sure each breed is comfortable (ex. larger and or longer breeds may have hip dysplasia or other difficulties). Having spent every summer on a large farm with over 10 dogs, I not only seem to have a second sense for dog behavior, but understand their psychology in a group situation, the hierarchy involved, as well as the need for a sense of security and comfort. I am the one my friends call to come help train their dogs, or even accompany them on a hike in case some first aid is necessary. Moreover three of my close friends are veterinary doctors, whom I speak with daily, and are a great source for any information needed. I have extensive experience with both young puppies, and older dogs who may or may not have some incontinence or other medical issues. I am very familiar with dogs with special needs, as my own previous dog was partially paralyzed, and required medication. At the end of the day, I just love dogs and want them to be as happy and healthy as possible, including cooking custom meals :)

We left our Ginny with Shaheen for about 12 days. We had done a lot of research and did one trial day (partly to see how things went and partly we hoped to help Ginny know we will be back) with Shaheen before our trip. We chose Shaheen because he seemed positive, alert and joyful, and because he had experience with reactive dogs and could protect Ginny well and keep her in a low stress environment (boarding in kennels was not an option). Of course we were nervous, but I can tell by Ginny's personality, mood and behaviors since our return a few days ago that she did pretty well with Shaheen. I believe that he did provide good care for Ginny. She gained 3 pounds, though, so we are working that off her. Ha ha, I feel good knowing Shaheen managed Ginny's extreme energy and pestering little sister behavior with extra treats instead of locking her in a crate. She is really quite a handful and Shaheen handled her well.

From the moment he met my two min pins, Shaheen was incredibly welcoming to them and my dogs warmed up to him right away. He is very professional. Shaheen took time to ask me questions to better understand my dogs so that he could best meet their needs during their stay. He kept me posted with messages and photos. I felt relieved that the dogs were in great hands, and we will absolutely use Shaheen again in the future!

During our vacation we were calm and happy knowing that our dogs stayed with an animal lover who had a lot of patience with our stubborn senior basset hound.

Shaheen always does a great job watching my dal, Damon. I always am confident that he will have a great time when at his house! Shaheen has a great amount of knowledge raising dogs, so when I first got Damon I would send him tons of questions about it. Damon and Shaheen’s dog Apollo were also good friends, he was a very sweet and well-adjusted Rhodesian Ridgeback. I love the peace of mind of leaving my baby with Shaheen!

Shaheen was a wonderful help watching my dog while I was on holiday. He walked her daily, he followed her meal and medicine schedule prefectly, and he even sent me some photos of her, spontaneously! I had full confidence in Shaheen and I never once doubted that my pup was in good hands with him.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a dog proofed home, with a very friendly and submissive doggy to keep yours company. I have a ring doorbell camera that monitors the only entrance/exit; There is a very nice fenced dog park across the street with a dog agility course. There are pleanty of dog toys, chews and treats. The dogs are welcome on all the furniture, with a dedicated TV playing doggyTV in the background.

A typical day

I live in a nice quiet green area with direct access to wooded hiking trails, creeks, and streams directly from the local park. There's a dog park about a hundred yards away, with several others nearby. On hot days, with owner's permission, there are creeks and streams in which dogs can swim in before getting a bath to make sure they stay nice and clean before returning home. There are other dogs nearby if you wish for some socialization, or we could take private walks out and around by beautifully manicured green spaces by the University. With owner permission, snacks and treats (highest grade, natural foods) are made available, for example on a hot day a puppuccino or a nice ice bone could easily be made available. I generally speak and treat each dog as if they were human guests, it is not uncommon to take out the guitar and see if they want to sing along while sitting on one of my many couches that have been purposely designed for dog comfort after a walk.
