“Alex is great with animals, respectful, kind, caring and compassionate. She is great with communication and made me feel like my pets were being well cared for. Highly recommend!”

“Evelyn did a fantastic job taking care of our pup for a long weekend. She made sure he had food, plenty of walks, and all the snuggles while we were gone. Thanks for everything, Evelyn!!”

“Jackie was amazing with the dogs and you could tell by how calm they were when I got home that they had a great weekend. I would recommend and will have her watch my dogs again.”

“Emily was great at communicating with us the entire stay, and we could tell from all her updates and pictures that our pups loved having her around. Our flight ended up getting delayed because of the blizzard rolling through Wisconsin this past weekend, and Emily was able to help make sure our pups were let out and fed while we figured out how to get back to Milwaukee. I would absolutely recommend Emily to anyone else looking for expert and friendly care for their pups on Rover. Thank you again!”

“Catherine did a great job house sitting and pet sitting my golden retriever for 5 nights. She was extremely professional throughout the entire process and left my home clean and tidy. I would not hesitate to book with her again!”

“Keisha was amazing!! She sent lots of updates on our dog and spent really good time with her the whole 5 day trip. She was in such good hands and we would DEFINITELY use her again! Thank you!!”

“Carrianne did a wonderful job caring for my dog when I went out of town for a weekend. Penny takes some time to warm up to people and Carrianne was very patient and understanding throughout that process. She followed the care instructions I left and sent daily updates with important information (e.g., walks, eating habits, general behavior) with photos. She also stayed overnight in my apartment and left everything really tidy. I couldn't be happier with the care Penny received and will definitely rebook for future travel plans!”

“I’m so thankful I found Carole two years ago! She’s amazing with my senior dog, Miley! Carole is communicative and so in-tune with Miley’s needs—she’s the best and I can’t imagine anyone else caring for Miley.”

“Melissa is, simply put, AMAZING!!!! She took incredible care of our nearly 15 year old dog who is very sweet, but requires quite a bit of assistance. We came home to a clean house and a very happy hound! Best of all, we were able to truly relax on our vacation, knowing that everything was taken care of in our absence. 100/10! 😊”

About: I’ve dog sit for families since I was a teenager, and I’ve always been very reliable. I’ve had all different types of breeds of dogs growing up as well. I currently work as a teacher; so I’m off for the summer. I can help any time! I can be there as early as needed. I love walking dogs and am always very interactive with all animals. I’ll never left them get bored and think stimulation for them is very important.
“Madeline house sat for me for over a week and did a great job with my timid Chihuahua and Cat. She gave me daily updates and handled their daily routine and activity needs effortlessly. My dog who's slow to warm up to new people was actually sad to see her leave by the end of the sitting period. Highly recommended.”

“Ashley was So responsive and Wonderful with my boys! Thankful she was able to watch them in their house!! Will definitely book again if she is willing to watch them!!”

“I cannot recommend Travis enough! I only hesitate to write a positive review because I don’t want him to be booked the next time we need him! :) We we’re hesitant booking someone we didn’t know off of rover and he was so gracious to do a meet and greet before hand. He sent updates and photos of the pups, grabbed all of our mail/packages, and left the house cleaner than he found it. He will definitely be our first choice to stay overnight with our pups next time we’re out of town.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 5 years, and I truly love getting to know each pet’s personality and routine. Friends, neighbors, and family have trusted me to walk, feed, play with, and stay with their pets while they’re away. I especially enjoy longer stays because it gives dogs time to feel comfortable and settled, and I love being able to build that trust with them. One of my favorite parts is taking dogs on enriching walks, keeping them active, engaged, and happy, and making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while their owners are away. I work remotely, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m able to keep up with walks, feeding schedules, playtime, potty breaks, and companionship, especially during longer stays when consistency and routine are important. I always try to make pets feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible by sticking closely to their normal routine and giving them lots of attention and care. I pay close attention to each dog’s personality, energy level, and needs to make sure they feel safe, happy, and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m attentive on walks, respectful of clients’ homes, and committed to providing reliable communication and updates throughout each stay.
“Liz was wonderful to work with. I had her stay with my dog for 2 nights in my home since it was the first time I would be away and thought it would be less stressful than boarding him. I was really happy I made the choice to have her stay. She was very responsive and sent me daily updates! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is looking to do this for the first time and is unsure, and I will use her again in the future!”

About: I’ve been looking after fluffy frens of all shapes and sizes from a young age. My time doing a full house/dog sitting gig was for my grandparents and their French bulldog, Sugar (miss you, Sugs!). Since then I have been the go-to for my friends and family for taking care of their for legged family. I make sure your fury family gets the love and care they need, whether you just have one smol dog or a pack of greyhounds. I currently had a stretch of rough health luck, but my ails are your pups gain! I’m currently on the mend, and it’s going well, but between jobs, so my schedule is wide open. I’ll have the time to give your pups the TLC they deserve! Currently unavailable to board pets at my house, but I will make sure to treat all pets in a safe and caring way. I’ll treat them like a newborn baby, because hey, in a way they are!
“Riley continues to be our first choice - our high maintenance and not super friendly boys love her, and we really appreciate the extra stuff she does for us like watering the plants!”

“Alena did a great job taking care of my pup! I booked on short notice, and she was extremely gracious and accommodating, and even she made time for a meet and greet prior. She was prompt in responses when I reached out and sent check-in updates and photos as well. I would definitely recommend and will be rebooking if the need arises!”

“Carly was so great to work with! She was prompt to respond and set up a meet and greet! She was able to work with our schedule and took great care of our pets. I got daily updates with some great pictures of Melody and Theo! Would definitely like to work with her again!”

Madeline house sat for me for over a week and did a great job with my timid Chihuahua and Cat. She gave me daily updates and handled their daily routine and activity needs effortlessly. My dog who's slow to warm up to new people was actually sad to see her leave by the end of the sitting period. Highly recommended.

Jamie was simply amazing & incredibly reliable! I was in the UK for nearly one full month and Jamie house sat with my two dogs and two cats. One of my dogs is very high energy and the other is 15. During my travels, my older dog, Macy, developed a second round of vestibular disease. Jamie immediately noticed the change in Macy's coordination and reached out to me. We coordinated a same-day visit to the vet, followed by regular medication. The condition required Jamie to carry Macy up and down the stairs for the remainder of the sit. Jamie took care of Macy while still ensuring my high-energy dog got the play time he needed. I cannot say enough about Jamie's dedication and communication skills. Highly recommend!
Lily absolutely exceeded my expectations with her attention to detail, genuine care and concern for my pups, and thoroughness! My dogs were well taken care of with feeding, walking (carefully in a heat wave), fireworks, and just general companionship. I also returned to my home probably looking better than how I left it - well cared for, cleaned, and plants alive and well. The daily updates were fantastic and very reassuring. Lily is amazing and I hope we can book again :)

Travis took incredible care of our two dogs and handled a genuinely chaotic situation with so much calm and flexibility. The night before we left, our AC failed during a heat wave. While we were stuck across the country juggling an HVAC company and a landlord who wasn’t prioritizing the issue at all, Travis kept the dogs safe, comfortable, and monitored. He checked in regularly so we knew how they were doing, and he adjusted his schedule so repairs could be made. His support made a huge difference for our peace of mind during a very stressful situation for us and I’m sure him. One of our dogs is anxious, skittish, and extremely high‑energy, and Travis did an amazing job letting her warm up at her own pace while still getting her out for consistent walks. Both dogs were well cared for the entire stay. We’re so grateful for how he handled everything and will absolutely book with him Again. Thank you Travis!

Riley was wonderful with our boys. They are relatively recent rescues, so have some behavioral quirks. Riley quickly sussed out how to approach the boys. She sent regular updates and photos, which I so appreciated!! I wouldn't hesitate to have her stay with Rocky and Gordo anytime!

First time user of Rover, and we love Sydney! Our dogs loved her, which one of our dogs is not a fan of strangers. But he approved so much that he jumped up and cuddled next to her immediately. Which DOES NOT happen! She was thorough with asking questions. We will be using Sydney again!

Evelyn was great to work with! She was prompt and very flexible when we needed to do the meet and greet on short notice. She took good care of Theo and Melody, they both seemed quite content when we came back from our trip! Daily updates with photos are always appreciated. Would definitely like to work with her again!

Jackie was amazing with my French Bulldog, Hazel. I was out of the country for a week and she stayed at my condo with Hazel. She sent me updates throughout the day and kept Hazel active, which I love. I would highly recommend Jackie for your dog sitting needs and will definitely use her again.

Laura was absolutely wonderful and my dog, Rocky, seemed very happy to be with her while we were gone! I reached out to Laura last minute when my other arrangement fell through. We squeezed in two meet and greets within a week just to be sure Rocky was a good fit for her and vice versa. She took notes and really listened to all of the info I shared about Rocky’s needs, quirks, etc. I felt very confident in leaving him with Laura and having her stay at our home. She sent a daily update with a few photos each day, and Rocky was happy as a clam playing, snuggling, and walking to the park with her. I highly recommend Laura and plan to have her stay with Rocky again later this summer!

FAQs for House Sitting - Shorewood
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Shorewood on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,308 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shorewood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shorewood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shorewood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shorewood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shorewood. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
