Pet care experience

east side dog-whisperers

Taking care of dogs is a family affair. Our family is Shannon (grown-up), Carole (grown-up), Max (college) and Eamon (high school). (Working on Rover was 11-year-old Eamon's idea for ways to get more time with dogs LOL.) Our OG pooch, Ivy, is almost 12 and our young guy, Bacon, just turned three. Dogs have been part of our family for more than 20 years. Dogs at our house get plenty of snuggles, lots of outdoor time, and yummy treats when working on new commands and skills. We learned to care for (and train) dogs from The Monks of New Skete and Patricia McConnell. We know from experience that happy dogs are well-loved, are kept busy with breed-specific jobs, and have a safe and consistent environment. We no longer offer boarding, but we can absolutely take care of your furry fam at your house. A bit about us: Ivy is a super-chill, twelve-year old medium-size rescue. Her back-end wiggles like a boxer but she's lean like a whippet and and has the deep chest of some hounds. She has good manners and is a good friend to our visitors. Bacon is...well, the DNA tests say he's part pitty part Great Pyrenees. He is a super lovable dope. He's very active and loves to soothe himself by napping on top of a human. For a while we cared for the class bearded dragon, too. We loved her, and were sad when it was time for her to go hang out back with the kids at school. These days Carole works from home and Shannon is an RN. If we house-sit, we can either drop in on your pet's schedule or an adult can spend the night. If we walk your dogs, an adult is available during the day. Late afternoons, evenings, and weekends, your dog will be walked by an adult and -- if your dog likes it -- Eamon. Even though our kids are active helpers with your pet, an adult will always supervise. We know who's alpha! We can't wait to meet your furry family.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

In your home we follow your dog's schedule for walks, play, and feeding. We can make sure your dogs aren't alone longer than they're used to (for many dogs this is 3-4 hours). I love coming home to a clean home after traveling, so we make sure your house is nice and tidy when you return.

Carole (and Max!) were terrific help with twice-daily drop-ins to give an antibiotic -averse Great Dane his meds. They were patient and kind, in spite of his trixie wiles!

Max (and Carole!) is fantastic! He's dependable, kind, and Hamlet is always excited to see him. I love that Max is often available if Carole is already booked -- he's just as great, and it feels really good to leave Hamlet with someone I trust!
