“Joshua was so incredible with our two big dogs over a long weekend. He came over to meet the dogs twice before the sit to make sure they felt comfortable with him. They immediately loved him and he made us feel confident they would be on good hands while we were away. He kept us updated and sent pictures the whole time. We know our dogs are a handful (reactive, prey driven), but he never made us feel like they were too much. Cannot thank him enough and are so lucky we found him!”

“Kristy was phenomenal!! My dog, Mochi, was clearly very well taken care of, along with my house. Kristy provided multiple updates throughout the day, was very thorough in her questions about care, and was always responsive. Mochi can be quite reactive to other dogs and Kristy did a great job managing this and letting him have fun on walks. It was truly so nice to have peace of mind during my time away - including over 4th of July! Will be booking again for sure and would highly recommend : )”

“George took great care of our two dogs while we were away on a trip. He is very responsive and sent lots of updates. We really appreciated the flexibility in his schedule that allowed him to check in often. We came home to a couple of happy guys! We will be booking with him again on our next trip.”

“Happy to have Elle back house-sitting with Daisy! It was easy to feel super confident leaving Elle with the home, and, Daisy loved it so much she tried to refuse to let Elle leave at the end of their three days together. Elle is a wonderful friend to dogs :)”

“Jenifer is fantastic! She is kind and gentle with our two dogs. During her stay with our dogs, she sent photos and updates on a regular basis to ensure they were taken care of. We couldn’t be pleased more by her and we would 100% recommend her services.”
“Meagan did a wonderful job house sitting for Teddy. We came home to a tidy house and a happy dog. She was very attentive to him, provided thorough updates, and was very mindful of his needs as an elderly pup.”

“Lindsey was so great!! She left our home in great condition but even more importantly, our dogs were so happy in her care! She was very communicative and excellent at following our care instructions. We so appreciate Lindsey’s amazing care!”

“Beau was very communicative and sent picture updates which really put our mind at ease when we were away. They provided excellent care for our dogs and were very conscientious and left our place clean when they left.”

“Anja took on our 5 month old puppy for the first time for one night. It was our first time leaving her (and our 12yo cat). All went well. She took our pup for a walk that seemed to tire her out from the looks of the pictures she sent. All was in order when we came home.”
“I cannot recommend Kiki enough! From our meet & greet I could tell she was kind, intelligent, and passionate about animals. My kitty Teddy can be very stressed and anxious while I am out of town. I felt totally reassured he was safe and happy with Kiki. Kiki sent lengthy detailed updates including videos and pictures. She truly went above and beyond with his care. She left my house in perfect condition. My brother is a vet and said he has never seen such a caring pet sitter! Teddy and I will definitely be booking with Kiki in the future!”

“Melissa is amazing! My dog has never been so excited to see a sitter, and he was so well taken care of while we were away. She is responsive and dependable. We feel so lucky to have found her!”

“Elaina was an excellent sitter, she was quick on the uptake and just the initial greet left me confident in her care. She watched Kanna overnight and was very communicative. I believe she went above and beyond on walks and play too. I got so many lovely photos and updates, would absolutely hire again and recommend!!”

“Vika was wonderful! She house-sat and watched my dog, Winston, for 5 nights and did a fantastic job. She was incredibly communicative throughout the stay and left my home in perfect condition. Most importantly, Winston was very well cared for and happy while I was away. I would absolutely book her again!”

“Savannah accommodated a last minute request and was exceptional with my dogs. She sent great updates and was extremely communicative throughout the booking and stay. I felt very comfortable knowing she was caring for my pups.”

Elle took such wonderful care of my home and is very helpful and easy to work with. Elle knows my dog well but there is a new cat in the house, and the two of them don’t get along very well - but that didn’t stop Elle from making sure both of them had all they needed and more! The cat took to her right away and was cuddling on the couch with Elle within a day. I was so grateful to be able to go away knowing they were both in good hands with her. She made sure they each had their special dietary needs met, and also cleaned my home so nicely before leaving :)

Andrea was fantastic to work with. Very thorough and thoughtful about the care of our dog. She took excellent care of our dogs needs (particularly over Fourth of July fireworks when he can be stressed). Andrea is an excellent communicator and left our home spotless. We look forward to working with her again in the future.

Jasmine is a complete dream. She is caring, intuitive about pets and helped ours feel so calm and safe, even on the 4th of July when fireworks were going off. She's completely responsible, reliable, and has great communications, often sending us pictures of our pets, but beyond that, just has a beautiful way about her and a true love and affection for the pets in her care. Our dog, Ollie, can sometimes be a little shy at first but right away, from the photos she sent with his eyes shining and happy, I could tell she'd made him feel completely at ease. Anyone's pets would be lucky to be in her care.

Ben was a phenomenal sitter & we could not recommend him more highly. We were nervous leaving our 4 month old pup overnight for the first time, but it was obvious that he was in great hands. Ben handled the puppy antics like a pro + made sure our adult shep was also incredibly well cared for. He was so accommodating with a late modification request, sent awesome pics & updates, took great of the house, and really went above and beyond all expectations. We are really grateful for Ben's dog care/sitter services and know any pup/fam would be lucky to receive his care & attention

Savannah was an absolute gem! This was our first time with her at our house and we couldn’t be happier. She is very sweet and genuinely loved being with my pup. I got lots of updates and photos where I saw a happy dog! I would recommend Savannah to any one looking for a sitter and puppy playmate!

Kate watched our two kitties in our home for 3 days. We came home to happy kitties which is always great! Kate sent daily update and gave a long update on her final day before leaving our home. She also checked in a few times leading up to our trip to make sure we were both confirmed and clear on instructions which was appreciated. She also made sure to take out the trash and tidy up after her stay. The only small hiccup was prior to booking. The pricing shown on the listing was not the actual cost. She prices herself a bit different than all other Rover sitters we’ve work with. That said, the total cost was reasonable and we worked it out before I agreed to book.

Merddyn came over to meet and she was very nice and took notes. She spent time getting to know my cat and was easy to connect with. I would use her again, my kitty is a little on the shy side at first so it was nice to see her interact with her before i left. Will use her again.

Addisyn did an amazing job caring for our dogs and looking after our home while we were gone. She was incredibly attentive and kept us updated the whole time, which gave us total peace of mind. She was super reliable with their routine, making sure they got their allergy meds with dinner each night. Honestly, I don’t think the dogs even missed us! We returned to very happy, well-cared-for pups and will absolutely be booking Addisyn again. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 7,859 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shoreline. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shoreline walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shoreline maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shoreline choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shoreline. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
