Sara is a wonderful Dog Sitter! I highly recommend her services. I returned from a week away to a house that was cleaner than when I left and a happy and content dog. She was very attentive to my sensitive dog’s needs. She also took the time to go to the store for dog food since I miscalculated how much to leave. She is a true professional when it comes to dog & house sitting. I hope to use her again for future vacations.

Chibi is a very sensitive Chiweeenie and we needed someone caring, compassionate, and trustworthy while we were away on vacation. Shannon has the characteristics we were seeking. She was very kind to Chibi, responsive to us, and took very good care of our home while we were on vacation. She also took care of extra home related tasks for us. When we came home we could tell Chibi was taken care of very well. We felt completely comfortable while we were away that Chibi was in good hands.

Jenna was wonderful! From the moment we began corresponding, she was attentive and knowledgeable and friendly. She was so patient and gentle with our senior pup, and she made us feel so relaxed knowing our dog and our home were in such good hands. Jenna went above and beyond in so many different ways - making sure our dog got all of her meds, not an easy feat; finding creative ways to encourage her to eat when she was being finicky; communicating regularly with pictures and updates, and not hesitating to reach out with any questions or concerns. Jenna left our house spotless, like she hadn't spent over a week there, and her attentive touches to our home did not go unnoticed. I'm so grateful to her for making my trip as relaxing as it was. Jenna feels more like a friend than a dog sitter. She's trustful and kind, and I can't recommend her enough!

Jennifer was absolutely incredible. She house sat and took care of our Husky while we were out of town and we could not be happier with her care. Everyday our dog received multiple walks and tons of play time. She sent us frequent pictures and updates throughout the day and as anxious dog parents, we felt completely at ease while our dog was in her care. Highly recommend!!!

Kory was Fantastic! We have two dogs, one of which is barely a year old. They have very spirited play and need separate walks, plus we have a cat who is picky about people, and we as pet parents are very anxious. Kory send many updates, great pics, was very thoughtful about their enrichment and getting to know them, and was very communicative about even small changes in behavior or digestion. Plus they left our house in great condition. We will absolutely keep booking with Kory!

About: I started working with animals in high school, accruing hundreds of volunteer hours at my local animal shelter, where I honed in on my passion for pet care. As I transitioned to university life, I started walking dogs on the weekends, and really enjoy getting to hang out and provide for other people's pets. I have open availability through most of the week, and for late-evening drop ins over the weekends. This allows me a lot of time and flexibility to devote to caring for your pets. Communication is key, and I strive to ensure all preferences are met during my visit/walk with your pet! I will frequently send updates, such as photos from during my visit/walk, and a little blurb about what your pet and I got up!

Kayleigh was great staying with our dog, Otis! We booked her somewhat last minute due to our quick timeline, and she accommodated us so well. Right from the get-go, she was super easy to work with and communicative. She sent updates about the dog, how he was doing, and went above and beyond with watching over the house (bringing in packages, and a couple extra asks) too. She was great at all the specifics our animals have/need as well. I couldn't recommend Kayleigh more, and we will absolutely be utilizing her for all our future needs; we were lucky to find her.

My dog has loved boarding will Elle for several years, but this was our first time with house-sitting. Elle was a great house guest! Everything was left super clean, nicer than it started. Elle took the time to listen to listen to all my instructions through a long tour of the house on the first day. She made sure to send me updates that evening after I nervously left my dog behind, as well as throughout the stay, of the fun things they were doing together.

Great sitter for the special pups!! We have a high maintenance 8.5 month German Shepherd/American Bulldog that had a rough start her first 6 months of life resulting in a lack of appropriate socialization and high anxiety. We were incredibly nervous leaving her with someone since she hasn’t been with us long but Andrea handled her with grace, love, kindness, and patience. We know how frustrating a dog like ours can be and we were very impressed by Andrea’s commitment to making sure our girl was taken care of while we were away.

From the moment Elaina came over to meet and greet our furry boys to her saying goodbye to them on the last day of the sitting, she has been very communicative, accountable, punctual, and provided them with loving care while we were way. One of our dogs is going through cancer treatments and we were very worried about leaving him but Elaina provided such great care we were able to enjoy our time away and not worry. From daily walks to treats to hanging outside to providing lots of pets, we felt so comfortable with Elaina and the care she provided. Catie is absolutely wonderful and we will absolutely be booking with her again. She has a ton of experience with many types of dogs and you can tell immediately. She was so gentle with our dog that is usually skiddish and so understanding of our very demanding old man English bulldog. She kept our house so clean and went above and beyond everything. She was so understanding of me too and all my worries about leaving the dogs and intricacies that I prefer for them. She is kind and detail oriented and very communicative and sent pictures and messages everyday which put me at so much ease. Thank you Catie!!

Our dog has fear based anxiety and we had some concerns about how to leave her for a vacation. Michelle has a very kind nature and loves dogs. On Michelle's pre visit our dog noticed and felt very comfortable with her. My concerns went away. While of vacation Michelle gave detailed updates with lots of pictures. It was appreciated and fun reading. Our dog did have a medical emergency. Michelle handled it very well and gave us frequent and detailed updates that afternoon and evening. I was impressed and glad we chose Michelle.

FAQs for House Sitting - Shoreline

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Shoreline on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 7,864 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shoreline. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shoreline walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shoreline maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shoreline choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shoreline. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
