Elle did a fantastic job taking care of our dog. Koa is older and needs a little extra care and attention. It was obvious from the start that Elle made a connection with Koa. She sent lots of updates and pictures to show us how well Koa was doing. This is the first time we’ve left Koa with someone not in the family and it couldn’t have gone any better. We definitely recommend Elle.

This time around my poor pup got stitches the day before Laura was watching him. She took extra good care of him, making sure he got his medicine, was eating, and checked that the inflammation was decreasing. She also made sure my other dog got plenty of love, and kept me updated. I would definitely recommend Laura!

This was my first time leaving my dog with anyone who wasn’t family while I was on vacations so I was a bit nervous. However, Arlene was amazing!!! My dog loved her the minute she met her. She sent me daily pics and updates on how she was doing and the things they were up to. Knowing my baby was being so well taken care of allowed me to relax and enjoy my vacation. I came home to a happy pup and a clean house (not expected at all but very nice after an exhausting travel day). I would highly recommend her and hope she is available for our future pup sitting needs :)

About: I grew up around horses and learned to respect all living creatures large and small. We always had pets at home and they gravitated towards me because I like to play and have fun with them. I had a cat for 16 years in my youth and loved her so much. Kitties will always have a special place in my heart. I have had many pets over the years and my most recent were two rescue shepherd/husky mix wonderful family members. They were brother and sister and both passed away. I do not currently have any pets of my own right now. Pet sitting is the joy of my life, and I cannot imagine a day without walking, playing and cuddling with furry friends. I am home all day and available to spend quality time with your fur babies! I am extremely flexible and am here for all of your pet’s needs. I like as much information about the pet as you'd like to give me. Whatever your pet needs, I will provide for them. I have lots of experience with anxious dogs and senior dogs and cats. I welcome any information you can provide to help your pet feel comfortable. I will only feed your pet what you provide. I will follow all of your instructions verbatim.

Sonia was fantastic with Rita for our first house and dog sit since adopting her. She struck the right balance in communication, which we really appreciated, especially since this was new for us! Rita has a few health issues, and Sonia handled them with real care and confidence, paying close attention and adjusting as needed. She went above and beyond for Rita throughout the stay, and we came home to a house just as well cared for as our dog. Can't recommend her enough!

I’ve never been away from my babies in four years. So my first vacation away from them was incredibly scary for me. But oh my days I’m incredibly thankful I stumbled across Valeriya. I know my boys can be overwhelming with how high energy they are but she reassured me they were so well behaved while I was gone. She sent me very frequent updates to ease my mind that they were in good hands. I left detailed instructions, and she followed every single one. I’m so excited to be able to travel and know my babies will be in good hands, I’m definitely going to be a frequent client. I can’t express my thanks enough!

Truly exceptional in every way! We were pretty nervous about using rover for in-house sitting for the first time but Alexis made us feel so comfortable and made everything seamless. Most importantly, Bucky loved her right away and he is an excellent judge of character ☺️. Alexis sent lots of photos and even video updates so we knew he was doing great and being well cared for every day. It takes a special person to take on a very large dog in a new space and Alexis was everything we could hope for in a sitter. And she left our home looking perfect too! So grateful for her care and would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a kind, considerate, and extremely competent sitter for their fur baby.

About: I have taken care of animals ever since I was little. Since I was about eight years old I have looked after a variety of animals. Including dogs, cats, and even reptiles like lizards and bearded dragons! I also previously worked at multiple dog daycares and was a shift supervisor at one of them for over a year. I currently have no job so the most I am out of the house is two or three hours and we do frequent potty breaks. I also take them to the dog park if weather permits:)! I have a fenced in yard with two very friendly dogs who love to have friends. And plenty of extra room inside the house so the dogs have their own space aswell!

Claire was absolutely wonderful in taking care of our 11month old golden retriever puppy at our home. She was attentive to her needs, took her on walks, gave us updates throughout the day, and made sure she was cared for in the best way possible. She was available to watch her last minute and even stayed later at our home when some unexpected things came up for my wife at work. We are very appreciative of the care Claire provides to our puppy! Highly recommend!

About: I have a deep love and passion for animals. I have cared for many types including cats, dogs, snakes, rabbits, even insects! I am a volunteer at a local animal shelter, so I have a great deal of experience handling animals from all walks of life. I recently relocated, so I am offering discounted rates as well as a promo code for first time Rover users: DANIEA95969 If you have a dog with reactivity, I am happy to help! Reactivity can be a stressful matter for owners to endure with their pet, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be outside and explore. Feel free to message me with questions if you would like to set up walks with your reactive dog. I also have experience with senior dog care including walking challenges, diaper changes, and oral medication. No matter the breed or size, I will care for them like my own. I am happy to do day walks, at-home visits, overnights, boarding etc. I will do my best to accommodate any repeat clients as I want your pets to feel bonded and comfortable with me! I will always put your pet's comfort and happiness first! I know with my own dog that trusting a stranger with your fur baby can be nerve wracking, but I can assure you, your pet will be in great hands.

Nicola did an amazing job making sure our pups felt like they were at home even when we were away from home. She was very fast at responding back when booking and answering all of our questions. She as well made sure to ask questions about our pups to make sure they were well taken care of. While we were at our event she sent us a text a little after we left to let us know they had settled in with her. Giving us a peace of mind as we entered our evening. We got multiple updates and the cutest pictures of our boys. Definitely book with Nicola if you want tour pups to feel safe and loved. She was incredible.

Elly May loves Javier! When I got home, she was obviously healthy and happy. Javier had explored the local trails with her. She got a good report card from him as well. The only reason I left off one star is that his vehicle left some oil spots on my new driveway. So next time, I would ask him to park on the street. No big deal.

FAQs for House Sitting - Sand City

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Sand City on Rover is $46.07 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 956 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sand City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sand City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sand City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sand City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sand City. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
