Rain is our go to for watching our dogs. She’s done so multiple times and is always amazing with them and they both love her. She’s been super helpful when we have needed a sitter on extremely short notice and is a joy to work with. There’s nobody we trust our dogs with more.

About: My dogs have passed and at this stage in our lives we travel to visit our children and grandchildren and so it's not reasonable for us to have our own dogs anymore. Instead when we're home we Foster dogs, we have fostered over 100 dogs for Monterey Bay Lab rescue. And we watch dogs for our friends. Rover gives us an opportunity to watch dogs for you and let you come to the Monterey peninsula or go camping or to family events or wherever you need to to go knowing that your dog is in our home and being loved completely. A home away from home for your dog. I promise. I work from home with a laptop on my lap sitting on a couch. All the dogs always love to sit next to me and snuggle and sleep and they love the fact that that's just what I do all day. They wander out to our little backyard area because we keep the door wide open and it's right next to the couch. They can bring their own toys but we also have a ton of toys. If you're from out of town, you can bring your dog to Carmel and go to the beach and Carmel Beach is the best for dogs. And then you can drop your dog off with me and you can go to the Monterey Bay aquarium or go out to dinner or do whatever you want. I'm a professor at our local University, my husband travels for business so he's gone a lot. I would love to have your dogs as companions during the days or nights. At our house dogs can go on the couches, they can sleep on the bed, they pretty much have the going to Grandma's house experience. I don't mix and match dogs unless I've watched them for a long time and I know they're all going to get along together. I like to just have one at a time or if two come in from a family, two is fine. Even three is okay if they're coming from the same family and they all like each other. We do have a dog park about a half a block away so if the dog is one that likes dog parks, we can do that. I will say from my fostering experience for the last 16 years, dogs normally do great when they meet someone who is just going to love them unconditionally. It's funny because the rescue organization gives me the dogs that need quiet and safe, loving and space to just decompress. So if your dog likes to just chill and you want to go, have a great adventure on your own and know that your baby is safe. I am definitely the pet sitter for you I teach online so I'm very rarely out of the house. I'm usually sitting on my couch with my laptop. I have a nice fenced-in back yard / patio area and I leave the door wide open to the back all the time, And the door is literally 2 ft from the couch. The dogs can come and go safely. I just love to have a dog snuggling up with me on the couch while I'm working. My husband teases me that we can't walk anywhere without me stopping and petting and talking and scratching every dog I see. I have a fenced in small backyard. I leave the door open between my living room and the backyard so the dogs can come and go. Some dogs love to just lay in the sun on the back pavers other dogs just go out to go to the bathroom while other dogs won't go out unless I go out and sit with them. It's very very safe

I’ve never been away from my babies in four years. So my first vacation away from them was incredibly scary for me. But oh my days I’m incredibly thankful I stumbled across Valeriya. I know my boys can be overwhelming with how high energy they are but she reassured me they were so well behaved while I was gone. She sent me very frequent updates to ease my mind that they were in good hands. I left detailed instructions, and she followed every single one. I’m so excited to be able to travel and know my babies will be in good hands, I’m definitely going to be a frequent client. I can’t express my thanks enough!

I loved Andrea taking care of my cat Billy and the odd menagerie of feral cats that live at my home. She did an outstanding job. She follow the instructions carefully and was able to follow them and feed all the cats and take good care of Billy and the others. She stayed and played with Billy, which he loved. She maintained the litter robot, which is sometimes a challenge. She kept everything clean and took care of them the day I came home so I didn’t have to worry about them. I highly recommend Andrea, she is very conscientious and pays attention to detail and send pics and is really aware of how special our babies are to us and she is very good with cats. I will use her again when I attend my brother’s wedding soon.

About: I believe animals deserve the absolute best care, and I treat every pet like they’re my own. I grew up with both cats and dogs and currently care for an adorable cat and puppy, so I’m very in tune with different personalities, energy levels, and needs. I work from home, which means your pet will have lots of attention, care, and supervision throughout the day. I bring a calm, intuitive presence that helps pets feel safe, comfortable, and happy. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime and a bit of training, or prefers a cozy day full of naps and cuddles, I tailor their care to what they enjoy most (usually a mix of both!). I live in a house with a large backyard, so there’s plenty of space to play. I also share my home with my loving boyfriend Ahmed, who is just as much of an animal lover as I am. Whether you’re traveling, working, or just need an extra hand, you can trust your pet will be in a safe, loving, and attentive environment the whole time. I work from home, so your pet will have company and care throughout most of the day alongside my own pets. If your dog enjoys walks or outings like the beach, I’d love to include them with mine. Otherwise, they’ll be relaxing at home in a calm, attentive environment and won’t be left alone for more than about an hour (if they’re comfortable with short periods of alone time). I make sure my pets get a healthy balance of play, structure, and rest. With my dog, I focus on plenty of playtime and ongoing training, which helps her burn energy and settle into naps while I work. My cat prefers a calmer routine and spends most of her day relaxing in her own space, but I always make time for snuggles and connection so she feels loved and secure. I’m very attentive to each pet’s needs and energy levels. If a dog becomes tired or overstimulated, I’m happy to crate them for a peaceful reset if that’s part of their routine. For cats, I create a cozy, quiet space where they can feel safe and comfortable throughout the day. There is plenty of room in our house and yard to create separate spaces for pets to have their own areas (for sleep, food, play, etc.) if that is what they prefer. ❤️

About: I have a deep love and passion for animals. I have cared for many types including cats, dogs, snakes, rabbits, even insects! I am a volunteer at a local animal shelter, so I have a great deal of experience handling animals from all walks of life. I recently relocated, so I am offering discounted rates as well as a promo code for first time Rover users: DANIEA95969 If you have a dog with reactivity, I am happy to help! Reactivity can be a stressful matter for owners to endure with their pet, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be outside and explore. Feel free to message me with questions if you would like to set up walks with your reactive dog. I also have experience with senior dog care including walking challenges, diaper changes, and oral medication. No matter the breed or size, I will care for them like my own. I am happy to do day walks, at-home visits, overnights etc. I will do my best to accommodate any repeat clients as I want your pets to feel bonded and comfortable with me! I will always put your pet's comfort and happiness first! I know with my own dog that trusting a stranger with your fur baby can be nerve wracking, but I can assure you, your pet will be in great hands;

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and cats my entire life and have experience caring for pets of all sizes, from small dogs to larger breeds. I’ve also helped with pet sitting for family and friends over the years, so I’m very comfortable with feeding, walking, playtime, keeping pets on routine, and making sure they feel safe and cared for while their owners are away. Being around animals has always come naturally to me, and I genuinely enjoy giving them love, attention, and a calm environment. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets I care for. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, pet sitting, and overnight care throughout the week and weekends. I enjoy spending quality time with animals and making sure they stay on their normal routine, feel comfortable, and receive lots of love and attention while their owners are away. Creating a safe, calm, and loving environment for pets is very important to me. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully to make sure pets stay comfortable and on their normal routine. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality, needs, and behavior to ensure they feel secure and cared for. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I provide a clean, attentive, and trustworthy environment where pets are treated like family and receive plenty of affection, supervision, and patience. I also love keeping pet owners updated with photo and video updates throughout the day so you can feel reassured and connected while you’re away. I know how important peace of mind is when leaving your pet with someone, so communication is always a priority for me, and I’m happy to answer questions or accommodate any specific care instructions.

FAQs for House Sitting - Marina

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Marina on Rover is $42.49 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,136 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Marina. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Marina walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Marina maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Marina choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Marina. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
