“Penny was absolutely AMAZING and we are so very thankful for her help watching our babies (2 dachshunds). If you know anything about a dachshund, they are loving, needy and can be barky and particular about new friends. We had previously never left our dogs with anyone other than family, but needed to find a sitter while we were away for our wedding for a week with family. Penny blew it out of the park from the moment we did our meet and greet. She has such a warm and calm presence that our dogs instantly became comfortable around (which is no small feat when you’re meeting a dachshund!). She gave us twice daily updates while we were away with plenty of pictures that we were so happy to see. It was clear through her messages that our pups were getting plenty of love and engagement. We were quite worried about our finicky pups and Penny eased those worries and went above and beyond. We would 10/10 recommend Penny and look forward to using her pet watching services in the future 🙏💗 Thank you so much Penny!!! (From the dogs and us humans)”

“Paige did a good job looking after our feisty little Yorkie. When we got back she seemed happy and relaxed. Thank you for taking care of her. Will be booking her again.”

“Rachel did a great job housesitting for our two kitties who are a bit demanding. She took care of our mail, trash, packages, and other people coming and going from our home while we were gone. Highly recommend hiring her if you want peace of mind while on your vacation. Will use her again for upcoming trips.”

“Kristina is ah-ma-zing! She sends multiple videos/photos during the stay, and obviously loves working with animals. She’s excellent person and we will rebook with her in a heart beat”

“Liv was amazing with our 2 dogs. Our house and pets were in great hands. We loved all of the cute pictures and updates during the week we were gone. We will for sure book Liv again.”

“Judi was great with our nervous pup who hates to be alone. She was a very conscientious houseguest and communicated with us regularly about how our girl was doing. We're really happy we booked her.”

“My dog is somewhat high maintenance, and Kari was very reliable and caring. She was able to give him his medicine and take care of all his needs, and I had no worries about leaving him with her. When I came home, he was relaxed and resting. Exactly how I like to see it.”
“Christine is a great caregiver! My dog & cats were given excellent care. She stayed a week and kept in touch so I knew how they were all doing. I came home to very happy, relaxed pets because Christine was so good to them. She fed, walked, administered medication and even cleaned up after them.”

“Paige was such a gift! We loved all the photo updates while we were away and it's clear Paige is quite the cat whisperer. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our girls 🥰”

“Michelle was very responsive and communicative with us and was really attuned to the dogs' moods and how they were feeling. She was responsible with them and in our space and the dogs clearly were well taken care of while we were away.”

“Julia clearly loves dogs and knows how to handle them. My very excitable Bella calmed down quickly when Julia arrived, and by the daily photos and communication I know she was calm and happy when I was away. Highly recommended”

“Sarah was great taking care of my two high energy mini aussies. Sarah left the house clean and shared great pictures of the dogs during the stay. We came home to happy, relaxed dogs that had clearly had their needs met.”

“Rachel was amazing! She did a great job with our cats and dog. We unexpectedly needed a second overnight pet sitter, she was quick to respond to my request. Thankfully, it worked with her schedule. It was a relief to know someone familiar with our pets was able to care for them again.”

“Another great experience with Lucy. We were gone for an entire week and had peace of mind knowing our pets (dog, cat, guinea pig) we're in caple and responsible hands! Thanks again, Lucy!”

“Hailey is an incredible sitter. My cat was ill when I had to go out of town, and Hailey took amazing care of her and made sure she got her medication. Through no fault of Hailey’s, my cat had a medical emergency and had to be rushed to the vet. Hailey handled the situation perfectly, which is something I’m not sure I could have done. If you want someone who is caring, reliable, and able to handle themselves and your pet in a crisis, hire Hailey.”

“I had a kennel cancel on us two days before leaving for the New Years vacation, and Julie was there to help out! In fact, I'm glad the kennel canceled on us because Sebastian was surely better off having Julie take care of him while we were gone. She took wonderful care of him and also of our home. I absolutely will see if she can watch our furry family members the next time we need help, and just as eagerly recommend her to anyone else.”

“Lacie is a great house and dog sitter! She is flexible and communicative with me, and very attentive to my dog’s needs. I recommend her and would hire her again.”

“Sarah did a great job staying at our house and taking care of our dog while we were away for the holiday. It can be hard to be away, and we really appreciated knowing Isabella was well cared for. Sarah was responsive to any updates or requests, was very communicative, and shared helpful updates throughout. She took Isa on outings and walks, and adjusted her care when Isa’s stomach got upset. We came home to a clean house and a happy dog. We hope to have Sarah stay with Isa again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Saint Paul
Abi is simply fantastic. She has taken care of our dogs twice, and the second time she came in, they actually ran to her and gave her kisses they like her so much. She gives constant picture and video updates, is always accessible, and left our house cleaner than we did!
Paige was easy to get in touch with, both before and during the sit. She is warm and friendly, and the cats took to her immediately. She send us numerous pictures and updates throughout the three night sit, so we knew our girls were in good hands. She went above and beyond, and left the place in great shape. Would love to work with her again!
Erica was the best dog sitter we have ever had! She stayed in our home for 5 days and took such great care of our incredibly high-energy Australian Shepherd puppy. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and incredibly trustworthy. She kept us updated throughout the stay and sent the most adorable (and hilarious) photos, which we loved. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. We look forward to booking her again!

We truly lucked out with Julie when we asked her to start dog sitting for us about 4 years ago now. She is reliable, knowledgeable about pets and their needs, and truly cares for the animals and people she works with. Our dog Kona absolutely adores Julie and gets so excited whenever she comes to visit. We have tried boarding in facilities a couple times, but she just gets so anxious to be away from her space, so we are very thankful that Julie is able to come to us and give Kona the 1:1 attention and care she needs.

Liz was wonderful! She was relaxed, kind, comforting, and understanding with me as I was trying to take care of last minute details before I left to go out of town. She was very good with my nearly 17 year old dog, Sonny. Liz treated him gently and sweetly and put me at ease. While I was gone, she touched base with me twice daily and asked questions when needed. I felt relaxed that Sonny was in good hands. I will certainly use her again. Grateful!

Giovanna looked after our Dash for 10 days. She sent up updates and photos from time to time and upon our return, he was cheerful and happy. Everything at our house was in good order, too. Throughout, Giovanna was professional and positive, even when our travel schedule changed at the last minute. This was our first experience using Rover and overall so much better than boarding! Thank you, Giovanna!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Saint Paul on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,492 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Saint Paul. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saint Paul walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saint Paul maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Paul choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Saint Paul. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
