“Penny was great. She really listened during our meet and greet. The dogs (1 senior cocker spaniel and 1 middle aged active beagle) really seemed to love her. We came home to happy dogs and a well cared for house.”

“Rachel was awesome! She was great at communicating and kept me well updated while I was away. My pup was happy and content in her care. She was super flexible with my last minute scheduling. She did an awesome job.”

“Christine went above and beyond taking care of Callie and Cosie! She scheduled a meet and greet a couple days prior to us leaving for a long weekend. The sister bichons took to Christine immediately which is very unusual. They are high maintenance with some house training issues. Christine met their needs like a champ! When we got home the dogs were calm and happy. I told Christine she is the “dog whisperer”!”

“Liv was perfect!! Liv took such good care of our dog and elderly cat and kept us updated with pictures and text. Rocky and Agnes got a lot of good outdoor time. And on top of it all, we came home to a pristine house. We couldn’t recommend Liv more highly. Thank you Liv for a worry-free time away!!”

“Melissa was attentive with my pets, and they were very much at ease when I returned. She has a great deal of experience with animals, and she clearly enjoys being around critters of all kinds. She was a pleasure to talk with, and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact her again.”

“Mary did a great job caring for our dog and our mother in-laws visiting dog while we were on a joint family vacation. She managed both dogs great and our house was in great shape when we returned. We will definitely use Mary again!”

“Paige was such a gift! We loved all the photo updates while we were away and it's clear Paige is quite the cat whisperer. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our girls 🥰”

“Kristina did a fantastic job coming and staying with my dog. She sent multiple videos and kept me up to date throughout my trip. I would recommend her to anyone.”

“Judi did a great job taking care of my pups, making sure they had lots of fun and their daily required treats. She sent lots of pictures of them enjoying themselves and not missing me - the best a crazy dog mom can hope for.”

“Hailey did a great job staying with our husky with separation anxiety for the evening. Not only was she available at the last minute but was very. communicate and helpful! Would recommend and use again!”
“Hannah was awesome!! Rosie dog fell in love with her right away so I knew she would be in good hands while we were away. Hannah provided great updates and tons of pictures!! Always answered quickly when I checked in!! She also left a detailed note of the days we were gone including how walks went, etc. Can’t wait to work with her again!”

“Really appreciated Beth’s daily updates she provided on the care for Tyson. I felt very comfortable with Beth staying in my home and would happily have her again!”

“While we cleaned before we left, Gretchen left the house even cleaner than before! She seemed to genuinely enjoy Copper and I was confident he was in good hands.”

“Liz was wonderful! She was relaxed, kind, comforting, and understanding with me as I was trying to take care of last minute details before I left to go out of town. She was very good with my nearly 17 year old dog, Sonny. Liz treated him gently and sweetly and put me at ease. While I was gone, she touched base with me twice daily and asked questions when needed. I felt relaxed that Sonny was in good hands. I will certainly use her again. Grateful!”

“Brooke was a great dog sitter!! She provided updates often about Lux and followed our instructions exactly. We were so lucky to find her and even more, to find a place that he could be safe and well cared for while we were out of town! We would definitely recommend her to anyone as it is clear how much she cares and loves dogs! Thanks Brooke and family!”
“We have a dog with a lot of anxiety and a cat that is apathetic about humans. But Kari won them both over!!! She is an incredibly caring person that obviously loves animals. She has my highest recommendation!”

“Julie did a wonderful job taking care of my senior dog with separation anxiety. She was extremely patient with him and was happy and relaxed when I returned. I especially appreciated all of the updates and photos she sent. Definitely planning to book again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Saint Paul
Mary was SUPER. as soon as I reached out to her, she offered to come by to meet Leo and see our home. when she was with Leo, she noted his anxiety (due to unexpected local fireworks) and gave him the med he needed. She communicated when needed. We REALLY appreciate her!

Kristina went above and beyond for our two dogs. Ziggy is not easy at all but she took the time and put in the energy to help him get comfortable for over a month and is the first person that’s ever been able to watch him and Albus together. Truly amazing experience and unbelievable care and commitment to our dogs.

Hannah was fantastic! She is a great communicator both prior to and during pet sitting. We and our dog felt very comfortable with her right away at our “meet and greet” and knew she would be great for our long weekend away. She was punctual, clearly played, went on walks and gave lots of affection to our dog, and sent us regular pictures and updates. She even went above and beyond and did a few house-care things for us like watering plants and emptying the dehumidifier in the basement. Thank you, Hannah for giving us such great peace of mind while we were away.

Christine went above and beyond taking care of Callie and Cosie! She scheduled a meet and greet a couple days prior to us leaving for a long weekend. The sister bichons took to Christine immediately which is very unusual. They are high maintenance with some house training issues. Christine met their needs like a champ! When we got home the dogs were calm and happy. I told Christine she is the “dog whisperer”!

We could not be happier with the care our dog received. Our dog is anxious and takes many meds. Our dog requires a lot of patience and attention and Jessica was absolutely amazing with our dog! Frequent updates and pictures gave us real peace of mind and kept us at ease. Jessica made our dog feel safe and comfortable! When we got home, our dog looked taken care of and our house looked cleaned and piked up. We highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter! PS - It was dry and hot outside and we asked Jessica to water out plants. She agreed without hesitation.

We were hesitant to find a sitter for our pup via Rover as we only have left our dog Douglas with family/friends in the past, but we are so glad we found Erica! With her background as a groomer, she knows how to handle dogs very well, especially bigs one who has bursts of energy! She was very responsive, trusting, and kept us updated pictures! Would definitely book with her again!

Rhys was wonderful! He kept us updated with adorable photos, took great care of our dogs, and left the house very clean. We felt totally comfortable knowing everything was in good hands. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful dog watcher!

Abi is simply fantastic. She has taken care of our dogs twice, and the second time she came in, they actually ran to her and gave her kisses they like her so much. She gives constant picture and video updates, is always accessible, and left our house cleaner than we did!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saint Paul walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saint Paul maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Paul choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
