“Lilah recently house sat and took care of my dog Honey, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the start, she was responsive, friendly and made sure to ask lots of questions to understand Honey’s needs and quirks. I received updates and photos while away, and Honey was happy and well cared for when I returned home. An all around great experience, and I hope Lilah is available to hang out with Honey during my next trip.”

Mauren is very professional and responds to messages right away. We loved the pictures she would send of Bella. Mauren made us feel at ease right away with taking care of Bella and looking after the house while we were gone. We will definitely be calling Mauren for our future dog-sitting needs!”

“We had such a great experience with Rachel! She stayed overnight with our dogs while we were on vacation, and we couldn’t have asked for better care. From the moment we left, we felt completely at ease knowing they were in such kind and capable hands. Rachel was incredibly attentive, loving, and patient with both of our pups. It was clear she truly cares about animals and treats them like her own. She kept us updated, made sure they were comfortable, and gave them plenty of attention and affection. We came home to two very happy dogs and a house just as we left it! We would absolutely trust Rachel again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!”

“Penny was very easy to work with and my dog was very relaxed around her. She had no problem doing anything I asked was very sensitive to my dog’s needs.”

About: Hi! I’m Scarlett, and animals have always been a huge part of my life. Some of my favorite memories growing up involve dogs curled up next to me on the couch, playing outside until they were completely worn out, or spending quiet evenings with my cat in my lap. Caring for animals has never felt like a chore to me—it’s something I genuinely love. Over the years I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Right now I have a service dog who has taught me so much about patience and understanding anxious pets. Because she needs extra reassurance, I’ve learned to pay attention to body language, build trust at each dog’s pace, and create an environment where they feel safe and comfortable. I also have a 10-year-old cat that I’ve raised since she was young. When she started having trouble using her litter box, I didn’t give up or get frustrated. I spent time researching, changing her routine, and working with her until she was confidently using it again. Experiences like that have taught me that every pet communicates differently, and sometimes they just need someone willing to slow down and understand them. I’m especially comfortable caring for pets with medical needs. I’ve given insulin injections to my younger brother with Type 1 diabetes as well as a close friend’s diabetic dog, so needles and strict medication schedules don’t intimidate me. I’ve also administered eye drops, ear medication, and oral medications to my own dogs, including caring for one of my dogs while he struggled with painful eye conditions that required daily treatment. Since I’m studying nursing, being calm, detail-oriented, and following medical routines accurately is something that comes naturally to me. I’m also an active person. I love being outside, going on walks, running, and staying busy, so energetic dogs are honestly my favorite. Whether your dog loves long walks, games of fetch, or simply needs someone who can match their energy, I’m always excited to join them. At the same time, I’m just as happy spending a quiet afternoon keeping an older dog company or giving extra attention to a shy pet that needs a little more patience. Beyond dogs and cats, I’ve cared for snakes, fish, and plenty of plants (my room is basically a tiny jungle), so taking care of living things has always been a big part of who I am. Friends and family know me as the person who notices the little things—whether it’s a change in appetite, energy, or behavior—because I truly pay attention. When your pet is with me, my goal isn’t just to feed them and let them outside. I want them to feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely cared for. I’ll treat them with the same patience, love, and attention that I give my own pets, and I’ll keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing they’re in good hands. Pet care fits easily into my schedule! Right now, I’m available full time as I prepare to move to college. I always make sure every pet gets plenty of love, exercise, attention, and one-on-one care. I’ll also send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy and in good hands. I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. My goal is to make your pet feel as comfortable and safe as possible by sticking closely to their normal routine. Whether that means following a medication schedule, taking a favorite walking route, or giving them extra cuddles before bed, I’m happy to do whatever helps them feel at home. I’m very detail-oriented and comfortable administering medications, including pills, eye drops, ear medications, and insulin injections when needed. I’ll always pay close attention to your pet’s behavior, appetite, and overall well-being, and I’ll let you know right away if I notice anything unusual. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I treat my own. I’ll keep everything clean, secure, and exactly how you left it. You’ll receive regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your pet is safe, happy, and receiving plenty of love while you’re away.
“It’s obvious that Erin LOVES animals. She took such great care of my two babies while I was out of town for work with regular updates to me so I didn’t miss them so much. She was also very respectful of my living space. Couldn’t recommend her more!”

“Jackie was fantastic! She stayed on our home with our dog and took great care of both! We will definitely use her again. Highly recommend. Thanks so much, Jackie!”

“We had Alex for a short overnight stay and she was great! She provided us with updates throughout the day… we had no worries while we were away, knowing our dog was being well taken care of. We would love to have Alex again sometime!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Sharron was an incredible first impression! She did drop ins with our two bulldogs and it’s safe to say the dogs had as much fun as we did on our vacation! Highly recommend Sharron. She’s a great communicator, sends the best pictures and has great attention to detail with specific dog needs. We’ll be regulars!”

“Liz was very loving with my cat, and even gave amazingly generous extra time that I’m so thankful for. Good communication too. Came home to a happy cat and well cared for apartment.”
“Gretchen was great - very responsible and responsive. The dogs were happy and calm when we came home after several days, and the house looked great too. I appreciated Gretchen letting us know whenever she had questions. We will definitely ask her to sit again.”

“Isabella was very punctual and followed our instructions for our 2 foster cats. She left the house tidy and responded quickly to our messages. Even though everything went well we would have liked more daily updates. We should have communicated this ahead of time. I think we are on the same page now and would use Isabella again in the future.”

Liv was the epitome of a loving dog person! My husband and I went out of state to a destination wedding where there was little cell reception and Liv was so communicative by sending updates morning, afternoon, and night for our two dogs. Liv took the time as well to make sure our house was in pristine condition when we arrived home. Overall, Liv did a wonderful job in dog and house sitting and we would for sure use Liv again!

Lauren house sat my 15-year old cat, Piper, for two weeks and was excellent! Piper is very selective with her affection, but she warmed up to Lauren quickly and was very comfortable with her throughout the stay. Lauren sent detailed daily updates, and it was so reassuring to know things were going well! It was also incredibly helpful to have someone who understands senior cats and their health watching Piper.

Ryan was great. He was communicative and responsive to our needs and the needs of our two large dogs. While we were gone, he sent us pictures and regular updates. He was also really respectful of our house. We will definitely use him again (and have actually already booked him for another stay).

Bailey was absolutely amazing! She took wonderful care of my puppy while I was away on vacation, with frequent walks, lots of playtime, and plenty of attention and care. It gave me such peace of mind knowing my puppy and home were in great hands. Bailey truly went above and beyond. She kept everything incredibly clean and took great care of my home as well. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for puppy and a spotless house. I really appreciate everything she did and would absolutely recommend Bailey to anyone looking for a caring, responsible, and trustworthy sitter!

Kristina went above and beyond for our two dogs. Ziggy is not easy at all but she took the time and put in the energy to help him get comfortable for over a month and is the first person that’s ever been able to watch him and Albus together. Truly amazing experience and unbelievable care and commitment to our dogs.

Hannah was fantastic! She is a great communicator both prior to and during pet sitting. We and our dog felt very comfortable with her right away at our “meet and greet” and knew she would be great for our long weekend away. She was punctual, clearly played, went on walks and gave lots of affection to our dog, and sent us regular pictures and updates. She even went above and beyond and did a few house-care things for us like watering plants and emptying the dehumidifier in the basement. Thank you, Hannah for giving us such great peace of mind while we were away.

Christine went above and beyond taking care of Callie and Cosie! She scheduled a meet and greet a couple days prior to us leaving for a long weekend. The sister bichons took to Christine immediately which is very unusual. They are high maintenance with some house training issues. Christine met their needs like a champ! When we got home the dogs were calm and happy. I told Christine she is the “dog whisperer”!

We could not be happier with the care our dog received. Our dog is anxious and takes many meds. Our dog requires a lot of patience and attention and Jessica was absolutely amazing with our dog! Frequent updates and pictures gave us real peace of mind and kept us at ease. Jessica made our dog feel safe and comfortable! When we got home, our dog looked taken care of and our house looked cleaned and piked up. We highly recommend Jessica to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter! PS - It was dry and hot outside and we asked Jessica to water out plants. She agreed without hesitation.

We were hesitant to find a sitter for our pup via Rover as we only have left our dog Douglas with family/friends in the past, but we are so glad we found Erica! With her background as a groomer, she knows how to handle dogs very well, especially bigs one who has bursts of energy! She was very responsive, trusting, and kept us updated pictures! Would definitely book with her again!

Rhys was wonderful! He kept us updated with adorable photos, took great care of our dogs, and left the house very clean. We felt totally comfortable knowing everything was in good hands. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful dog watcher!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Saint Paul walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Saint Paul maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Saint Paul choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
