“Thomas was great with our boy Hercules! We booked him super last minute so we really appreciated his flexibility in navigating that and showing up when we needed him. Hercules had a blast with him too! We will be rebooking with Thomas - highly recommend!”

“Working with Shanley was ideal in every way. She's a quick and clear communicator, she was thorough in our initial meet and greet and in her visits with my cats, and she did a wonderful job caring for them and attending to other details in the house. I will definitely book with Shanley again next time I go out of town!”

“Cameron took care of my cat for 8 days, and he watered all my plants too! I returned and she was clearly happy and well cared for. Also, I got great photos everyday, some were so cute! Definitely recommend Cameron, will book again!”

About: Ciao! My name is Matt and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to meet you and some of the amazing pets we have here in the city. I currently live near the rose garden/Piedmont. I live close to several other parks, and I always enjoy meeting new pet friends that come my way. I really don't have many restrictions, but all I ask is that if you are interested in meeting to discuss my services that we have great communication (whether it's email, call/text, etc.) I work from home during the week and actively get outside myself, so I'm sure we could work something out if you need help with your pet! Comfort and exercise go hand-in-hand in my experience. Play time and treats are always possible. Companionship is a must and routine is our next best friend.

About: Hiya, I'm Peter! I've cared for dogs for as long as I can remember, and have since provided countless hours of pet-care of friends, family, friends of the family, and families of friends! I have years of experience doing walks, play, feeding, bathing, clean-up and more. I have experience with excitable breeds like a neighbor's golden doodle to my family's mellowed-out portugese water doggies, along with senior care. I see animal care as a privilege. Our pets are no less than little bundles of feelings and life that we are given the opportunity to cherish. I have been told on multiple occasions that I am able to calm animals unusually quickly, and I feel that I am attuned to the emotions of animals I care for. I would love to opportunity to provide care to your pet! I work from home in a low-speed position, so I have a flexible schedule for your pets' needs. Normally, I would do a morning and afternoon walk, with potty breaks peppered whenever they need. I can also step away from my work at a moment's notice if anything arises, from entertaining a bored doggie to foiling attempted counter surfing! I have a paved yard for sunbathing and potty breaks, the door to which I work right next to. I live near Lake Merritt, the Morcom Rose Garden, and a dog park, so I can provide walks of all lengths. My home is very cozy and has multiple spaces where an animal can detox from any overstimulation. I can provide a dog crate, scheduled meals, supervision, and play.
About: I would be delighted to care for your pet! Whether they need lots of exercise or prefer cozying up, I'm here to ensure they have a great time. With a background in biology and a passion for animals, I bring both knowledge and enthusiasm to pet care. Being new in town, I'm excited to explore the neighborhoods with your dog. My experience includes caring for my family dog, a wonderful Lab, and being the go-to pet sitter for friends and colleagues for 20+ years. I genuinely love being around animals and can't wait to meet your pet! Hablo español. Falo português. I am a researcher who works from home, so I have a flexible schedule and can take care of your pet's needs in busy peak work times. I like to walk and explore new parts of town, so pet sitting is an ideal job for me. I will follow your guidelines, maintaining your pets' routines and ensuring they follow their regular schedules. I can offer them exercise and engage in playful activities or keep them company at their own pace, all while keeping them happy and stimulated.

About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and energy levels, including feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic medications, and providing lots of attention and companionship. I’m very attentive to pets’ routines and comfort levels, and I always aim to make them feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while their owners are away. I also understand the importance of clear communication and sending regular updates and photos. My schedule is flexible, which allows me to spend quality time with pets throughout the day. I currently work full time with a work from home schedule 3 days a week, which gives me availability for walks, drop-ins, boarding, and extended care. I’m able to provide plenty of supervision, attention, exercise, and companionship to make sure pets are happy and comfortable in my care. I work from home 3 days a week (M W F). And I'm home most weekends. My job is flexible so as long as I don't have meetings I can take breaks throughout the day as needed for pets. I've taken my friend's dogs on walks during my work hours and given attention to pets during their stay, treats and cuddles :) I have an open space layout so I will be able to be close to the pet and see what they're doing while I'm home.
“This was our first time using rover and what a great experience it was with Christine. She is a super dependable and communicative animal support person. This experience opens up the possibility for us to take off more frequently on the weekends now, something g we’ve been wanting for a few years. Thanks Christine.”

“Shelly is amazing! She has been watching my kitties since I moved back to Oakland and I always feel so comfortable knowing that she's checking in on them. She always gives me nice updates and takes good care of them.”

“Jessica did a great job looking after Kiwi. She was able to coax her out to play by day 2, which is an impressive fear for any sitter as she is usually quite shy. Very punctual and timely rover cards made me feel much more reassured about Kiwi on our trip!”

“Melissa was very easy to communicate and clearly cared about our cats, playing and sending a lot of great photos. We recommend Melissa for taking care of your pets while you are away”

“Emma was calm, caring, and just an overall incredible cat sitter for our two cats. Our kitties immediately hopped in her lap as soon as she walked through the door. We will absolutely book with her again!”

About: For the last four years I’ve lived in a home with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. One was a senior at 13 years old and the other is three. I’ve learned how to adapt to their different needs based on age and personality while setting boundaries and aligning to my Housemate’s desires for their care. (Which has helped me get to know new dogs pretty quickly.) We walk, play and cuddle. When needed I administer medication, feed them, and sometimes cook for them. I look forward to chatting with you about your family’s needs. When house sitting I do not schedule any other families for walks or drop-ins. The care I provide is all inclusive so that your baby gets all of my love and care. If I am not house sitting, I’m available everyday after 11am for walks and drop-ins within a 1 mile radius of lower Rockridge or easily reachable by public transportation. To ensure safety and comfort, I won’t be walking any other dogs outside of your household. I am available to spend time with your pet(s) in their home where they will be the most comfortable. I’ll come to you for walks.
About: My husband & I are semi-retirees who have been raised with pets our entire lives. We specialized in smaller breeds (20 lbs & under) with separation anxiety & definitely have a soft spot for doodles as well.😅 We are proud to say that we’re experienced, loving and extremely responsible animal lovers who believe pets are our kids……so much so that our vets said we are one of the best pet owners they’ve encountered and love to be our “kids” in their next lives.🤣 We are not the type of sitters who host excessive number of dogs at once. As a matter of fact, we intentionally keep our guest list small so we may focus constant supervision and individualized love to each little ones coming across our hands. We focus heavily on safety, trust, love & positive energy over anything else. As loving pet parents, we understand it’s a huge decision when you have to leave your fur babies in strangers' hands. Rest assured we hold up to our words, we’ll love and care for them just like our own! Our goal is to always put ourselves in your shoes and their paws😆 and provide the best-pampered care for your babies and peace of mind while you’re away. Your little ones will NEVER be left alone & treated like a number. Their safety and comfort are our TOP priorities when staying with us. We promise! Since we are semi-retired, we are generally flexible with drop off/pick up time. Communication and mutual respect are the key to any positive relationships. There are many sitters on Rover, and it’s encouraged to shop around, but please, please, please contact us only if you are serious & ready moving forward with the formal meet and greet. Non responsive owners will be blocked from future bookings. Thank you. Please note we limit a 30 mins drop off/pick up windows only. Daycare is limited to 9 hours only. We also do hourly daycare at $25/hr. (Minimum 2 hours). On a typical day, we enjoy countless cuddles throughout the day! There will be plenty of sunbathing playtime in our spacious secured yard and indoor matted play space. We also enjoy visiting local parks when time permits. For safety precaution, we NEVER visit any public off-leash dog parks. Therefore, we might not be the best fit for your pup if they’re accustomed to off-leash outings or long walks. There is always someone home 24/7. Our yard is securely fenced, with ample lawn and play area. There are plenty of outdoor opportunities with IN PERSON supervised playtime at ALL TIMES to keep your little ones safe, active & happy. The interior is padded with floor mats for safe playing, slip & fall prevention (great for senior pups). We also have a separate ground floor guest quarter that’s perfect for cats, rabbits and caged babies who do not wish to interact with dogs as we do have the sweetest senior Shih Tzu rescue, Augustina🐶. She likes all new friends but minds her own business most of the time. Given that said, your babies must be human friendly.😅

About: I have been an animal lover all my life and have cared for cats, kittens, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, and rats all along the way! I approach all animals with gentle curiosity and patience, and have experience caretaking for animals with disabilities. I have a flexible schedule and work from home! I am able to drive to any location within 8 miles of Lake Merritt. I am not doing overnight visits at this time. I only offer care for pets in their home at the moment. However I am happy to take your pet on a walk around your neighborhood or mine! (I live by Lake Merritt)

Stephanie was very communicative with us and great with our cat, who loves both cuddles and play! She took cute photos. She also gave her medication via inhaler and of course food, water, and litter scooping. She didn't hesitate to communicate and then clean up after her when she threw up. We were happy to know our kitty was in Stephanie's capable hands. Thanks so much!

Lisa was amazing. We left our older cat, Muji, who was just diagnosed with diabetes and requiring medication and extra affection and our younger cat Miel. Aside from being professional, punctual and communicative, Lisa was so sweet to our cats and our oldest really loved her. I trusted her with the care of both my cats and have no regrets. She spent time with them, giving them lots of love, feeding them, helping with the litter robot etc. Don’t hesitate and hire Lisa.

Alisson was amazing with my cat, Taylor! She was incredibly attentive to Taylor's needs and made sure she was well cared for while I was away. She sent plenty of photos and updates, which gave me so much peace of mind, and it was clear Taylor received lots of pets, love, and treats. I truly couldn't have asked for a better person to trust with my cat. I highly recommend Alisson to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!

Megan took care of my cat for a full 3 weeks. She kept her fed, cared for & eventually was able to coax her out of the closet to socialize. I got daily photos, updates, and she asked questions as needed to take care of Kava. Coming home my cat was happy, well fed & it took us no time to get back to our regular routine which I believe is thanks to Megan being so consistent & a daily caring touch point for Kava. I will definitely work with her again in the future & HIGHLY recommend!

Jes is a fantastic catsitter! They checked in daily and sent so many great pics & videos. Our kitties were in good hands for over 2 weeks. I was happy to see that Jes was able to win over Violet so quickly! She’s usually not the friendly one. Would definitely book again!

Lydia did a phenomenal job looking after my anxious and emotionally needy cat while I was away! Lydia is timely, responsible and caring with pets, and she's great about giving detailed reports with each visit. I would absolutely recommend Lydia to anyone, including if your pet is anxious and not accustomed to strangers!

Bryanna was absolutely wonderful with Bella and Stormy! She was reliable, caring, and kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear my dogs loved her, and I knew they were in great hands. I would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter. Thank you for taking such great care of my babies!

My second time booking John for drop in visits with my 2 cats. Really appreciate his great communication and thoroughness. He showed a lot of care and patience with my cats, even though they're extremely skittish and spent most of the time hiding. Definitely recommend John for any of your pet care needs!

Sarah’s amazing! My dog Jack was immediately obsessed with her (he likes everyone but LOVED Sarah). Sarah’s extremely easy to work with, super kind, communicative and knows animals extremely well. Jack has animal reactivity and she was extremely well-versed in this and equipped on how to handle that. Separately, she even deep cleans!!! I don’t know a better combo than someone who’s a dog whisperer and enjoys deep cleaning, but I’m really grateful to have met Sarah

Kayla is wonderful with Riley! He adores her. During her drop in visit with Riley, she made sure that he got a potty break and plenty of playtime outside, as well as some enrichment indoors. She used positive reinforcement to redirect him as needed outdoors and sent updates and lots of photos. Kayla is a kind and compassionate animal lover, and I would recommend her to anyone!

- 95% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
