“Sabrina was so attentive and caring. She took amazing care of my puppy. He just had a surgery and I didn’t have to worry about him at all during my trip. Thanks again”

“Samantha was really great! Honeypie seemed to love her and she sent many text and photo updates throughout the stay. Very conscientious and kind - I can't recommend her enough!!!!”

“Priyanka is the best Rover care giver I’ve ever had. She is caring and thoughtful and took incredible care of our senior dog. We’re so grateful to her and will definitely book her again”

“I cannot express enough gratitude for Shaun's incredible care of my dog during a recent emergency. In a moment of panic, I reached out to Shaun, and he stepped in without hesitation, showcasing his genuine love for animals and his professionalism. Belle has been with Shaun before, and it was heartwarming to see how quickly she settled in. Their bond is undeniable; it was as if they were old friends reuniting. Belle absolutely loves spending time with Shaun, and knowing she was with someone she trusts made all the difference during a stressful time. Shaun went above and beyond to ensure Belle's comfort and happiness. He kept me updated with photos and messages, which eased my worries. His attentiveness to her needs, from playtime to meals, was exceptional, and it was evident that he truly cares about the pets he looks after. I highly recommend Shaun to anyone in need of a reliable and compassionate dog caregiver. His dedication, kindness, and genuine love for animals make him an outstanding choice. Thank you, Shaun, for being there for Belle and for me when we needed it most! You are a true gem in the pet care community!”
“Lio is truly a beloved member of our family and is adored by my three children. I am very selective about where I leave him and rarely trust anyone else to care for him. From the very beginning, both Sayarlin and her husband were incredibly kind, caring, and attentive with our "big boy", who think he is a Chihuahua. Whenever I called or had a question, they were always responsive and thoughtful, which gave me great peace of mind. One thing I especially appreciated is that they have access to an outdoor space in New York, allowing Lio to get fresh air and feel comfortable outside of the apartment setting. Their love for animals is obvious, and they treated Lio as if he were their own. I highly recommend their dog-sitting service to anyone looking for trustworthy, compassionate, and reliable pet care.”

“My princess travels with me all the time and when she’s not a family member cares for. I was scared, literally heartbroken with the thought of leaving her with a stranger. Well, let me tell you how caring Giselle was and her profile “I’ll treat your dog just as my own” got me sold and that’s exactly what happened. I got videos and pic updates anywhere from three to four times a day, updates on her behavior and the little things she does when she’s comfy puts a smile on my face. I was able to enjoy my vacation for 8 days without worrying if she is okay. I felt as if she was with me with the daily videos. Giselle cared for my princess and I was extremely happy with her service. I unequivocally recommend Giselle without any reservations and I definitely will have her care for my princess, again and again….Good job Giselle!!”

“Naomi had picked up & dropped off our pup for his stay and she was very communicative and punctual. She sent videos of our dog clearly enjoying himself in the space of her backyard, and when he returned he was crying for her has she left!! We will definitely book with her again!!!”

“Travis is becoming my go-to dog sitter for Teddy! He is really great with my young pup, and Teddy enjoys spending the day with Travis. He is attentive to Teddy’s puppy needs, provides timely updates and is a joy to work with. I will absolutely continue to work with Travis when I’m in need of a sitter.”

“Our dachshund Willa stayed with Christine for 1 week and it was the first time our dog was away from home. Christine provided excellent care and I knew from the moment we met that Willa would be in great care. When we picked up Willa she was happy and content. She continued to be happy while at home which indicates that Willa was comfortable and well taken care of in Christine’s home. We appreciate all your patience and for sending pictures of Willa and your cute dog together. Thank you again for providing Willa with the best care!”

“It was the first time that I had Grace take care of my cat. She is very patient and friendly. She sent me daily photos and texts in the morning which made me feel safe while I was away. I would definitely recommend and book again with Grace! :p”

“Raymond and his family were amazing!!! We had such a great experience boarding our 10-month-old cocker spaniel them. They treated our puppy like one of their own, and the whole family—including the kids—welcomed him with so much love and energy. Raymond was communicative, sending regular updates with photos and videos. We will definitely re-book with him in the future.”

“Alyssa was fantastic. She had taco while we were out of the country and it made us feel so comfortable that she was in great hands. Alyssa loves all animals and it shows. We received daily updates with photos and videos and Taco (and Alyssa) were so happy. Thank you!!”

“Duke was so well taken care of during his stay with Grace and Luis. Grace sent updates daily with pictures. they truly welcomed him into their home and treated him as their own. Feeding instructions were followed accordingly. Duke came home happy.”

“Kimberly took great care of Toby. She communicated everyday and so felt assured that Toby was well taken care of. I would highly recommend Kimberly to care for your pet. We look forward to have her watch Toby again:”

About: With 5 years of hands on experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments, I’m dedicated to helping dogs become confident, well mannered companions. I also hold a degree in K9 Training and Management from SUNY Cobleskill giving me both the practical experience and professional education to provide structured, effective, and personalized care. Pet care is a part of my everyday life. Outside of work, I continue to dedicate my time to dog training and boarding. I am completely available Friday and Saturday and am available every other day after 6pm! Because I have a supportive family that helps with my boarding program, each dog is consistently taken outside for potty breaks, exercise, and fresh air throughout the day. Dogs staying in my home have access to a fully fenced backyard where they can safely go out for potty breaks, exercise, and supervised play. Inside, I have a finished basement that provides a clean, comfortable, and climate-controlled space for dogs to relax, train, and rest. Every dog follows a structured routine that includes regular outdoor breaks, feeding according to the owner’s schedule, enrichment, and plenty of individual attention. My goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment where every dog feels at home.
About: Because I’m currently on sabbatical, I’m home much more than the average sitter. This allows me to offer consistent companionship, careful supervision, and plenty of one-on-one time. I’m especially skilled at providing a calm, low-stress environment where pets can feel comfortable, safe, and genuinely loved. I’m also very attentive to routines. I take cues from each pet’s personality, energy level, and comfort, and I’m excellent at reading subtle body language—something I’ve learned from years of fostering and caring for more sensitive or shy cats. I use positive, gentle reinforcement and always prioritize your pet’s emotional well-being. Additionally, I’m a great communicator. I provide regular photo updates, respond quickly throughout the day, and make sure you always feel at ease while you’re away. My goal isn’t just to “watch” your pet—it’s to create a nurturing, cozy, and safe experience that feels like a second home. I’m currently on sabbatical after completing 10 years with my company, which means I have a wonderfully flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pet my full attention. Caring for animals is something that genuinely brings me joy, so it fits naturally into my daily rhythm. I love starting my mornings with a peaceful walk through the large park near my apartment, and I often take a second mid-day walk to stay active. If your pet loves exploring or needs extra exercise, they’re more than welcome to join me! I also have a car, so I’m able to transport pets safely if they need to visit a vet, try a different park, or simply enjoy a change of scenery. Because I’m home most of the day, I’m able to provide consistent companionship, playtime, and supervision. I’m intentional about creating a calm, cozy environment and making sure each pet feels included in my everyday routine. I provide a warm, calm, and nurturing home where pets can feel safe and loved. I live in a cozy 1-bedroom apartment with a pet-friendly setup—cats are welcome on all furniture, and I have scratchers, toys, and comfy lounging spots throughout the space. My balcony is fully netted for safety, and I’m only a short walk from a large park, which is perfect for fresh air and enrichment. I currently have one sweet 11-year-old cat who is gentle and used to having other animals around. I’ve cared for her since she was 3 months old, and I also have experience fostering animals—including caring for kittens as young as 4 weeks old—so I’m very comfortable with cats of all ages and personalities. My care style is very warm and hands-on: lots of snuggles, couch time, play sessions, and following the routines that make your pet feel at home. I’m attentive to their body language and habits and always prioritize their comfort and emotional well-being. Safety is a top priority. I keep doors secure, monitor interactions carefully, and have an apartment camera that allows me to check in on pets if I step out briefly. I maintain a clean, clutter-free environment and am mindful about introductions and transitions. For trust and communication, I send regular photo and video updates so you always know your pet is happy and relaxed. I’m very responsive throughout the day—my only downtime is between 10pm–7am, but otherwise you can expect quick replies. My goal is to create a loving, stable, and safe home where your pet feels truly cared for. If you have any specific routines, accommodations, or preferences, I’m more than happy to follow them closely.

Omar is awesome! We were admittedly nervous hiring a new sitter when our usual sitter was booked but Omar put our mind at ease. He was communicative, knowledgeable and provided updates, letting us know Koda was being well cared for. We could tell Koda was very happy and stress-free in the picture and video updates he provided. Would definitely book with him again, he is excellent!

Auredy was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of Kemba and kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. My booking was very last minute, and she was still able to accommodate us without any issues. Knowing Kemba was in such caring hands made all the difference. I highly recommend Auredy to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and attentive dog sitter. She is truly the best!
Jasmine is a fantastic dog-sitter! She’s super responsive and communicative, and takes such good care of our dog, Daisy, that Daisy gets excited when she realizes she’s going on a “vacation”. I would highly recommend Jasmine to any pet parents looking for a responsible and caring sitter for their pet.

Terrific sitter! Loving, kind, sweet, professional and kept me up to date all the time! My cat is my favorite thing on earth and he’s never opened up to anyone as quick as he did to Fernanda. He was so cared for and loved and happy. Will definitely be booking with Fernanda again and would recommend 100%

Alyssa was absolutely amazing! From the moment we met, I could tell she genuinely loves animals, and she took care of Peanut and Sprout as if they were her own. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. When I picked them up, they were happy, well cared for, and clearly received so much love and attention. It’s such a relief to find someone I can completely trust with my babies. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Alyssa to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter. Peanut and Sprout can’t wait to see her again, and neither can I! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rover Review for Leon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for someone to trust with your dogs, please read this. This isn't just another Rover review for us. For almost two years, my wife and I didn't take a single vacation. We used to travel six or seven times a year, but that all stopped after a tragedy changed our family forever. Our beloved 14-year-old Labrador Pit Bull mix, Cooper, stayed with a dog sitter we had trusted for nine years. Before we left, Cooper was happy, vibrant, and full of life. Aside from a little arthritis that comes with age, he was healthy. We had been playing with him before leaving for our five-day vacation, and there was absolutely nothing to suggest anything was wrong. When Cooper was dropped off at our home after we returned, we were told everything had gone great. The moment I took him out of the car, I knew something was terribly wrong. He could barely walk. We rushed Cooper to the veterinarian. Two days later, he deteriorated rapidly. We learned he had suffered a severe spinal injury, and on New Year's Eve we had to say goodbye to the glue of our family. Cooper wasn't just our dog. He was the heart of our home. He was the one who held everyone together. To this day, we'll never know exactly what happened because we were never given an explanation. That experience changed us forever. It left us with PTSD and a fear of ever leaving our dogs with anyone again. Anyone who truly loves a dog understands they aren't just pets. They're family. Losing Cooper devastated us, but it also devastated our chocolate Labrador, Chloe. She grieved his loss right alongside us. The house became quiet. The joy was gone. Almost a year later, after a lot of healing, we welcomed another chocolate Labrador into our family, Callie. Even then, we still couldn't bring ourselves to travel. The thought of leaving Chloe and Callie with anyone filled us with anxiety. Finding someone you can trust is one of the hardest things in the world. Everyone has great reviews. Everyone says the right things. But when your dogs are your family, reviews only go so far. Then we met Leon. From our very first meet and greet, something just felt different. I went by myself with Callie and Chloe so they could meet Leon. We spent a long time talking about dogs, life, and how he and his wife started Dog City. He shared stories about the dogs they've loved over the years, and you could immediately tell that caring for dogs wasn't simply a business to him. It was something he genuinely loved. Callie and Chloe immediately felt comfortable around him. Labs tend to love everyone, but I could tell they were relaxed, and that meant a lot to me. Even after that first meeting, I went home and thought about it for almost a month. That's how difficult this decision was. Finally, I told my wife, "I really want you to meet Leon. We have to get away. It's time." So we went back together for a second visit. She asked every question she wanted to ask, and Leon answered every one of them with patience, kindness, and understanding. We never told Leon what had happened to Cooper. We simply told him that our previous dog sitter had retired. He had no idea we were carrying almost two years of fear and heartbreak. Looking back now, I think that says even more about the kind of person he is. His compassion wasn't because he knew our story. It was simply who he is. A week later, we dropped Chloe and Callie off for a short four-day vacation—our first trip in almost two years. While we were away, Leon sent us pictures every single day. He stayed in touch throughout our trip, letting us know how our girls were doing and giving us something we hadn't felt in a very long time. Peace of mind. His home has a beautiful fenced backyard, but what impressed us the most wasn't the house. It was his heart. There is a huge difference between someone who watches dogs because it's a job and someone who genuinely loves them like family. Leon is that person. When we picked Chloe and Callie up, they were happy, healthy, relaxed, and obviously well cared for. Every toy, every dog bed, every leash, and every belonging we brought had been neatly packed and waiting for us. Leon greeted us with a huge smile and sincerely told us how happy he was that we had finally been able to get away and enjoy ourselves. That simple statement meant more than he'll probably ever know. Leon didn't just take care of our dogs. He gave us something we thought we had lost forever. He gave us back our trust. Leon may never realize it, but by simply being the caring, compassionate person he is, he helped us take the first step toward healing. Sometimes people change your life without ever knowing they did. If you're reading this because you're nervous about leaving your dog with someone, please know that I completely understand how you feel. I've lived through the nightmare every dog owner fears. That's why I can say this with complete confidence. I trust Leon with Callie and Chloe. For me, there is no greater compliment I could ever give another human being. Leon, thank you for treating our girls like they were your own. Thank you for your kindness, your patience, your communication, and, most importantly, your heart. Because of you, my wife and I were able to begin traveling again after almost two years. You didn't just take care of Callie and Chloe. You gave two people who had forgotten how to trust the confidence to start living again. We'll never forget that. Thank you, Leon. — Ralph & Vivian

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
