“Highly recommend Kimberly for sitting/boarding! Her and her family took excellent care of our pup and provided consistent updates throughout the booking. Absolutely will book again. Thanks!”

“Veronica is truly amazing. She makes our pet, Sienna feels right at home, she communicates frequently and sends pictures of her so we know how Sienna is doing. Pets' owners can have peace of mind that their pets will receive exceptional care and be at a very safe and caring place.”

“Karine was absolutely wonderful. We could tell our pup was expertly cared for during our time away. He had an amazing time with Karine, her husband and the other dogs. She was very consistent with updates, and made us feel at ease during the whole stay. We would recommend her to anyone 1000%”

“This was the second time Analí and her family has taken care of my baby joy Río and it certainly won’t be the last. Once again they went above and beyond to make sure my boy was happy and taken care of. She sends me consistently updates and photos and is transparent in all her updates. I highly recommend her and I I encourage everyone to give her a good tip! She deserves that and much more! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! Río says thank you too and see you soon🌻”

“Joanna was great. Evie can be stressed / anxious and she managed to get Evie comfortable quickly and adjusted with the other dog who was boarding at the same time. Joanna sent regular updates and helped us feel comfortable the whole weekend!”

“Nathalie was a great pet sitter. She took care of my mini Golden Doodle for 3 days. She sent pictures/videos every day! I will definitely book her again. I Highly recommend her!”

“Jada was excellent taking care of my dog Coco. She kept sending me photos, Even though Coco made a mess on her bed, I’m so sorry about that, Jada. But if I go away again, I would definitely leave my dog Coco with Jada again. Thank you so much for everything!”

“Brittany was wonderful with my dog Stark. She took time to get to know him before he spent the week with her, introducing him to her dog, which was especially important as my dog can take a little while to warm up to people and pets. He went immediately to her! She listened to what I said about my dog's fears, as he is a rescue and he became part of the pack of dogs she was watching because of how great she was with him. He had a wonderful week and I loved getting picture and video updates.”

“June loves Valentina and her family so much. She always comes back very happy and also very tired, so I know she is well taken care of! I always use Valentina for boarding. Highly recommend!”

“Cindy was amazing! This was my first time using a non-family member or friend that my dog was already acquainted with as a sitter. She asked great questions and made me feel very comfortable leaving my dog in her and her son’s care. She sent multiple pics/updates unprompted so I knew he was having a great time. He came home happy and exhausted from his sleepover. We will definitely use her again!”
“Naomi and Johnny took great care of our two dogs, Dexter and Bella. They were also very responsive when we were booking and during the period of time they were carrying for our dogs. Thank you!”

“I booked Steve after a communication issue with the previously booked sitter very close to the holiday. It was a little nervewracking because he's new to the platform, but Steve was great with Sammy! When I dropped Sam off, he asked a lot of questions about his routines and behaviors and you can tell that he really cares about your dog's experience. He was good about sending pictures and details throughout our trip about how Sam was doing. He was even able to get Sam to play fetch a bit, which he never does! Dropoff and pickup were easy to coordinate. Even when we returned a bit later than anticipated, Steve was easy going about it. I picked up a very happy, rested pup! I'll definitely be using Steve again!”

“Vivian was great with my dog and very communicative with me. It seemed like he had a blast with her and her dogs, which gave me peace of mind while i was out of town.”

“Symone is amazing!!! She took such excellent care of our dog, Buckley. We could tell how happy he was by the many photos that she sent us. Symone is intelligent, kind and responsible. She has such a positive and happy attitude. We feel lucky to have met her!”

“Emma was fantastic. She was kind and understanding of our pup. She was super attentive to send us photos consistently and videos so that we could see our pup on daily basis while we were away! It’s also a plus that she has a dog in her home and hosts other pets while boarding so the dogs have a great time! I will definitely be a return customer!”

“Shaun is an amazing sitter. He has taken care of my dog multiple times and always provides top tier service. His updates and pictures give me one less thing to worry about when I am away from my dog. He always goes above and beyond and I truly appreciate the care he has shown my dog.”

“I had an amazing experience with our dog Omar! He truly went above and beyond to make sure Lou was happy, comfortable and well cared for. Every day Omar sent thoughtful updates along with lots of pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear my fur baby was getting plenty of love and attention. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will absolutely book with Omar again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter!”

“I recently rebooked with Ashley and she was amazing with my fur baby during an extended overnight stay! She treated him like her own, sent regular updates, and made sure he was happy, loved, and well cared for. I came back to a relaxed, happy pup and total peace of mind. Ashley is my top choice for boarding and I will definitely book with her again. I highly recommend her services!!!”

Natalie was absolutely wonderful! She was able to dog sit Duke on very short notice, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was reliable, caring and attentive. She kept me updated and made sure my dog was happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. Will recommend to anyone:)

Second time having Maria watch Didi, my older dog. Maria is fantastic - based on all of the updates and pictures, it feels more like Didi is on her own vacation and not just being watched. I so appreciate all of the attention and love she brings to her caretaking. She is a true gem!

William was great with our big puppy Diesel. During Diesel’s one week boarding William made sure to keep us updated and at ease with videos and messages. As a trainer, William also gave us feedback on the areas Diesel could use improvement in his training. We would definitely recommend William as a sitter for your four legged children.

Wilbur seemed happy during his visit with Nikki. Easy arrangement and communication with Nikki - would’ve loved more photos and updates each day - but just happy to see Wilbur was in good shape after the 6 days :) Their dog Scout was super happy to play with Wilbur so it was good companionship at Nikki’s house.

My dog, Roo, had a phenomenal stay with Leticia!! Leticia was very kind and friendly, and had a lovely and cozy home that I felt very comfortable with Roo staying at. Roo is a very finicky chihuahua with high anxiety and is an extreme velcro dog, and she bonded with Leticia without a problem! Roo also tends to go on hunger strikes while I’m away, but to my surprise and delight, she had no problems eating while at Leticia’s! Leticia sent lots of pictures and videos of Roo, which really helped my own anxiety with leaving Roo with a sitter from Rover for the first time. Overall, Roo was happy and healthy and I couldn’t have been more pleased! I would definitely recommend Leticia to anyone!!

Brayhana is the best. I rely on my dog to tell me how a sitter does, and Rosie makes it very clear that she adores her. Rosie gets excited as soon as we turn onto the block and bounds toward the front door. I know she’s is treated with love and care, and I appreciate how Brayhana checks in each day.

Christine was amazing! She communicates well and timely, sent photos while we were away and kept us up-to-date even regarding our Lucy’s rough first night. She’s lovely, caring, accommodating, and flexible. Strongly recommend and would rebook again without hesitation.

Kiara was amazing with our golden retriever Kona. She sent videos and updates every day from their walks and playtime in her large fenced in yard. Kiara’s policy of dog sitting only one at a time ensured he had love and attention. He came back relaxed and happy, not stressed out at all. Kiara herself is warm and friendly, interested in hearing about all your dog’s foibles, and obviously a calming presence to dogs. We are absolutely going to use her again!

We left our doggy again with this lovely family - who now have a baby who is also so sweet with Wilbur. We love them so much and love knowing Wilbur is being taken care. During the heat wave, they made sure to take special care (walking in the morning, ensuring AC is on) as our dog gets super hot outside.

Noelle was a fantastic caretaker for our dog, Dodger. She helped out last minute, watching him for the weekend. He usually gets a little stressed after car rides and being left with strangers but he warmed up easily. Noelle sent great pictures and updates during the weekend and we will definitely be reaching out to her again!

Alyssa was absolutely amazing! From the moment we met, I could tell she genuinely loves animals, and she took care of Peanut and Sprout as if they were her own. She kept me updated with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. When I picked them up, they were happy, well cared for, and clearly received so much love and attention. It’s such a relief to find someone I can completely trust with my babies. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Alyssa to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter. Peanut and Sprout can’t wait to see her again, and neither can I! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rover Review for Leon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for someone to trust with your dogs, please read this. This isn't just another Rover review for us. For almost two years, my wife and I didn't take a single vacation. We used to travel six or seven times a year, but that all stopped after a tragedy changed our family forever. Our beloved 14-year-old Labrador Pit Bull mix, Cooper, stayed with a dog sitter we had trusted for nine years. Before we left, Cooper was happy, vibrant, and full of life. Aside from a little arthritis that comes with age, he was healthy. We had been playing with him before leaving for our five-day vacation, and there was absolutely nothing to suggest anything was wrong. When Cooper was dropped off at our home after we returned, we were told everything had gone great. The moment I took him out of the car, I knew something was terribly wrong. He could barely walk. We rushed Cooper to the veterinarian. Two days later, he deteriorated rapidly. We learned he had suffered a severe spinal injury, and on New Year's Eve we had to say goodbye to the glue of our family. Cooper wasn't just our dog. He was the heart of our home. He was the one who held everyone together. To this day, we'll never know exactly what happened because we were never given an explanation. That experience changed us forever. It left us with PTSD and a fear of ever leaving our dogs with anyone again. Anyone who truly loves a dog understands they aren't just pets. They're family. Losing Cooper devastated us, but it also devastated our chocolate Labrador, Chloe. She grieved his loss right alongside us. The house became quiet. The joy was gone. Almost a year later, after a lot of healing, we welcomed another chocolate Labrador into our family, Callie. Even then, we still couldn't bring ourselves to travel. The thought of leaving Chloe and Callie with anyone filled us with anxiety. Finding someone you can trust is one of the hardest things in the world. Everyone has great reviews. Everyone says the right things. But when your dogs are your family, reviews only go so far. Then we met Leon. From our very first meet and greet, something just felt different. I went by myself with Callie and Chloe so they could meet Leon. We spent a long time talking about dogs, life, and how he and his wife started Dog City. He shared stories about the dogs they've loved over the years, and you could immediately tell that caring for dogs wasn't simply a business to him. It was something he genuinely loved. Callie and Chloe immediately felt comfortable around him. Labs tend to love everyone, but I could tell they were relaxed, and that meant a lot to me. Even after that first meeting, I went home and thought about it for almost a month. That's how difficult this decision was. Finally, I told my wife, "I really want you to meet Leon. We have to get away. It's time." So we went back together for a second visit. She asked every question she wanted to ask, and Leon answered every one of them with patience, kindness, and understanding. We never told Leon what had happened to Cooper. We simply told him that our previous dog sitter had retired. He had no idea we were carrying almost two years of fear and heartbreak. Looking back now, I think that says even more about the kind of person he is. His compassion wasn't because he knew our story. It was simply who he is. A week later, we dropped Chloe and Callie off for a short four-day vacation—our first trip in almost two years. While we were away, Leon sent us pictures every single day. He stayed in touch throughout our trip, letting us know how our girls were doing and giving us something we hadn't felt in a very long time. Peace of mind. His home has a beautiful fenced backyard, but what impressed us the most wasn't the house. It was his heart. There is a huge difference between someone who watches dogs because it's a job and someone who genuinely loves them like family. Leon is that person. When we picked Chloe and Callie up, they were happy, healthy, relaxed, and obviously well cared for. Every toy, every dog bed, every leash, and every belonging we brought had been neatly packed and waiting for us. Leon greeted us with a huge smile and sincerely told us how happy he was that we had finally been able to get away and enjoy ourselves. That simple statement meant more than he'll probably ever know. Leon didn't just take care of our dogs. He gave us something we thought we had lost forever. He gave us back our trust. Leon may never realize it, but by simply being the caring, compassionate person he is, he helped us take the first step toward healing. Sometimes people change your life without ever knowing they did. If you're reading this because you're nervous about leaving your dog with someone, please know that I completely understand how you feel. I've lived through the nightmare every dog owner fears. That's why I can say this with complete confidence. I trust Leon with Callie and Chloe. For me, there is no greater compliment I could ever give another human being. Leon, thank you for treating our girls like they were your own. Thank you for your kindness, your patience, your communication, and, most importantly, your heart. Because of you, my wife and I were able to begin traveling again after almost two years. You didn't just take care of Callie and Chloe. You gave two people who had forgotten how to trust the confidence to start living again. We'll never forget that. Thank you, Leon. — Ralph & Vivian

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
