“This was the first time we used Rover and we couldn't be happier. Matt was great with our 4 year old German Shepherd. He gave her plenty of attention and played ball with her. He sent me pictures and videos everyday. She stayed there for 7 nights and when we picked her up, she was excited to see us but was not trying to leave. She felt at home there and very well cared for. I am more than pleased.”

“Danielle was amazing. She communicated with us everyday and sent pictures. Our dog is very shy but I could tell in the pictures how comfortable she was with Danielle. We will definitely use her again in the future.”
“This is my second time letting Janet watch my dog Charlie. It was great, she sent plenty of pictures and Charlie is really comfortable with Janet. Another great visit!”

“Valeria took exceptional care of our senior dog. She was very concerned about making him comfortable in a new environment. You can tell she loves animals! We would definitely board our dog with her again. So happy I found her!”

“This was my first time using Sharon and all went well. She sent photos and videos of Lily and took Lily on frequent walks. She was quick to respond to my texts. I really appreciate Sharon’s responsible and professional nature. And when I picked up Lily at the end of her stay, Sharon gifted her a bag of treats and toys and a thank you note! I will definitely use Sharon again.”
“Megan was great with Delilah! She sent pictures and updates and I could tell Delilah had a great time with her pup! Will definitely be using Megan as a sitter again in the future!”

“My husband and I were a little worried to leave Bailey behind since she is very attached to us; but, after the meet and greet we knew everything was going to be ok. Candace did an amazing job with her and treated her like one of her own. We got daily pictures/videos of Bailey and little updates on how she was doing. I will definitely be using her again and we highly recommend her!”

“Archer had a wonderful time at Karen’s. With his puppy behavior and not being around other dogs much I was a little worried. Karen was kind and reassuring. She kept me updated on his behavior through our trip. Archer settled in and made himself at home. She will be at the top of our list next time care is needed for Archer.”

“Cary (and family) were great hosts for Mashed Potato. He's a pretty no fuss dog, and she matched with a similar "chill energy". We got in a Meet & Greet ahead of time (not that MP ever met a stranger or enemy, but it was a good double check), and we got photos here and there over our pretty long time away (mostly of him enjoying scratches and attention). Otherwise, it was pretty no frills and a smooth process. He came back happy and healthy.”

“Shayna did a wonderful job caring for my two dogs while I was out of town. She was diligent about giving medications and kept me updated throughout my trip. My dogs loved playing in her backyard and snuggling in her home. Shayna works with dogs full time and it showed in her love for my pups!”

“Diana an angel. Took great care of my very strange acting dog. Feed him as requested my home made dog food lots of potty and outside play time and sends out lots of pictures and videos of how much fun my boy was having. Highly Highly recommend.”

“We really appreciate Matt and Michelle taking such good care of Lucky for us during our wedding and honeymoon trip. They provided frequent updates and photos, we could tell Lucky became a part of their family and felt comfortable. Would absolutely book again!”

“Katarina was so patient with Luna and I appreciated the whole process from the intro to the pick up!! She made me and Luna feel extremely welcomed and shared plenty of pictures. I would absolutely use her again and would recommend! 10 out of 10, no notes!”

“Phyllis and Greg gave Oreo (my 2 year old border collie) a second home while my family was traveling for holiday! Oreo had a great 9 day stay with them and even gained 2 pounds. We appreciated the daily photos and text updates! Highly recommend Phyllis rover service.”

“Amy was amazing! I left my cat Dino in her care for over a week, and she was very communicative, kind, and caring for my cat. By the end of his stay, he was even cuddling with her throughout the night because of how comfortable he was. Will definitely book again! 10/10 service would recommend”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Orland Hills
This was my first time using Rover and I am quite impressed! Desiree took perfect care of our senior dog, Molly. She was even kind enough to carry Molly down her stairs for every potty break! Her daily updates were great and we learned a thing or 2 about Molly while we were away on our trip. We had no idea Molly was good with other dogs, until Desiree sent us an update about it. I HIGHLY recommend Desiree and I hope we get to use her again in the future. Thank you for being so good to Molly!

Michelle and her family are incredible. We are so thankful we found them. They have watched our dog Chip a few times and he is legit excited to go back everytime. We were nervous about who was going to watch chip for our wedding weekend but after the few times he stayed with Michelle and fam we did not have to worry at all. We could enjoy our day knowing he was in the best hands! 1000% reccomend

Kimberly and Matthew were amazing care givers this past weekend. Kimberly kept in constant contact with me sending a ton of pics and made me feel at ease leaving my baby with them! This was his first time being away from home as I had to deal with a family situation in Michigan. I couldn’t have picked better humans to care for our Echo other than myself, naturally. Thank you for being amazing!!! I know he enjoyed the time he spent with you!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
