“We are so thrilled to have found Laina and Bill. A true home away from home for our two year old lab. He is EXHAUSTED after his first overnight (haha). A true sign of a great time!!! He can have separation anxiety, but they made him feel so comfortable right away at the meet and greet. Thank you for celebrating Blue’s 2nd birthday with us!!!”

“Linda took great care of our dog while we were away for 5 nights. She was very responsive and easy to work with and sent a daily photo and update. Thank you, Linda!”

“Diana and Brian were great! We got so many pictures of our pups during our trip and felt so at peace knowing they were in good hands! They truly cared for them as if they were their own! Will be reaching out again!”

“La Toya is very friendly, easy to communicate with and shared lovely pictures of my pup during a last minute sitting request. Her doggies are so sweet as well. Thank you La Toya!”

“Albina was very sweet and patient with our little baby. He is a handful with lots of energy. She sent lots of pictures and played with him. She was very patient as it was his first time being away from home and he cried a lot at night. Albina tried to comfort him by sleeping on the couch with our pup and even taking him to her bed. She even went the extra mile to make sure he eventually got some sleep when we took him home. 10/10”

“I trusted Wayne with my two beloved bostons and he did not disappoint! He took really good care of them, kept me updated with photos, and my pups looked at home. Will definitely book him again!”

About: I used to be a farm manager and not only took care of domestic pets, but livestock too! I know everyone says that animals love THEM the most, but pets are really drawn to me. I think it’s because I have a deep reverence for them and their ability to so easily love people unconditionally. I also respect their boundaries because I understand that they cannot communicate as easily as we do. I am currently unemployed and going to school part time so my schedule is very open right now! I enjoy nature, even when weather is inclement, and will be there rain or shine. I will follow whatever instructions you have for your pet! No matter how detailed. I would care for your pet in the same manner I care for my own, which is obsessively. As a former anxious pet owner (sometimes I still am), I will provide photos and updates whenever I am with them. I also respect your privacy, as I know allowing someone into your home can be intimidating.
“Heather ended up taking care of Dempsey an extra day after our flight back to Chicago was cancelled. She was quick to respond and helped make a stressful situation a little easier to manage. She took great care of Demps while we were out of town. Thank you!!”

“Iman is caring and creative with her "guests". For this stay, Iman presented me with artwork that was created by my dog, Honey. I never worry about my dog when she is in Iman's care.”

“Christina’s family is so caring and loving! You can tell how much their kids enjoy hanging out with Milo and accepted him as part of the family. It’s so great to see how sweet their dog Brydie is too! I know he always has a great experience with Christina and her family 💗”

“Teddy stayed with Phyllis and Greg for a little over one week this time and I was confident he was in good hands. They provided daily updates and spoiled Teddy as if he was their own dog. Teddy just loves them.”

About: I’ve been a dog owner since 2020 and currently have two dogs of my own—a male Goldendoodle and a female Labradoodle. Caring for them every day has given me hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playtime, routines, and giving dogs plenty of attention and affection. For dog boarding, I have a fenced-in yard where dogs can safely enjoy outdoor time and play. I’ll follow your dog’s normal routine and care instructions as closely as possible and treat them like part of the family. I’m also happy to send photos and updates so you know how your pet is doing. I’m also available for cat care in your home. While I haven’t owned a cat myself, I’m happy to follow your instructions carefully for feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning, playtime, and any other parts of your cat’s normal routine. I understand that some cats love attention while others prefer their space, and I’ll respect what makes your cat most comfortable. Whether I’m caring for your dog in my home or visiting your cat in yours, my goal is to provide dependable, loving care and give you peace of mind while you’re away I currently have a flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to care for your pets and give them the attention they deserve. I’m available for dog boarding in my home as well as drop-in visits and walks. I can also visit cats in their own home, where they’re most comfortable. I’ll do my best to accommodate your pet’s normal feeding, walking, playtime, and potty schedule I have a fenced-in yard and two dogs of my own, a male Goldendoodle and a female Labradoodle. I want every dog staying with me to feel safe, comfortable, and welcome. I’ll follow your instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and other routines. “We are so happy we picked Daisy to watch our boy Zeek! Her communication was excellent and she made sure to send pictures and ask questions while we were gone to make his stay the best! Daisy was very accommodating and we look forward to having her watch Zeek again in the future when we need a sitter!! One of the things we really liked is that she only watches one dog at a time so she was able to give her attention solely to our pup!! I highly recommend Daisy for anyone looking for an amazing sitter.”

“Amy was amazing with Jax!!! She gave daily night reports, long walks, intentional playtime. Jax got along with her pups too. She even gave him a nice bath so he was perfect returning to us. I'm sure Jax didn't want to leave with all of the love and care from Amy. Highly recommend and will definitely return.”

“Nicole was fantastic in keeping my Romie. She eased my mind by sending pictures and text. She answered all my questions and listened to my concerns . I am usually overly worried about my 12-year-old grandson Romie but Nicole assured me she could do the job and she did. I will use Nicole on my upcoming trips. Thanks again for the excellent job !!”

“Sarai took care of our 2 boys for a whole week. We were really glad we chose her to dog sit our babies. All week we received updates and pictures of our boys having a blast. They looked so happy and well taken care of. They enjoyed the huge backyard to run and play around. Her family is so welcoming and loving. There was always great communication and will definitely take my pups back to her to dog sit in the future. Overall a great experience !”

“Vanessa Is a great choice for pet care. We were nervous leaving him he was still a puppy but, she made us feel so comfortable. We received updates everyday along with pictures of him. Our puppy was taken care of and having fun we began to think he may not want to come home lol. As we were leaving he kept giving her so many kisses. She is friendly and professional. We recommended her to friends and family. Thank you so much for taking care of our puppy. ?”

“Kimberly was amazing with my pup. Loved the meet and greet option which made it a breeze dropping GG off for a short weekend trip! She sent great videos and updates each day which made being away so much easier. Will book again!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
