“This was our first time using Rover and I selected Jordan because I saw how many great reviews she had. When Jordan came over to meet our pitbull named Hazel, Hazel fell instantly in love with Jordan. She couldn’t stop giving her kisses. Jordan kept us informed the entire time with messages and pics of every visit. Our pup even had a few accidents and Jordan cleaned them up and adjusted her schedule a bit to accommodate our pups needs. She also walked her twice a day to help get her energy out. I would recommend Jordan to anyone needing a loving dog sitter for their animal companion!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is that I will make sure your beloved friend is happy. Not just fed or exercised, but emotionally comforted and cared for. I do this for fun, I love to go to animal shelters and cat cafes on my free time. And I'm sure I'll love to spend time with your best friend too. My experience in taking care of animals comes from my whole life. However, more specifically I have been the primary caretaker of my dog Sparky for years. Walking him, bathing him, feeding him, playing with him, and not as a chore, but because I had so much fun doing so. Other than that, I will list my other experience for anyone who wishes to read more: For the first 9 years of my life, I was in a household with 3 cats. I a pug named Emma for the first 4-ish years of my life, getting pug stuffed animals to name after her for years after. When I was 8 I got Sparky, and he was so awesome, so energetic (he still is) so adorable, so everything. My 3 cats, Kita, Salem, and Maggie, each of their passings were all hard on me, and sparky's never ending hyperness and lovingness was so important in helping me move forward. We later got a 2nd dog named Gus who stops in his tracks whenever my mom or my sister walk him, but for me he's willing to walk more. I'm not sure why but I'm glad since I love to walk, it's so calming, especially with dogs. I'm available full time on the days listed. I am a student and have an internship on the other days but for those days I'm free. If it changes you will see the listed schedule change. I take care of them by not just doing the bare minimum, but going the extra mile. Cleaning up their bowls before giving new food and water. Taking them on long walks but planning the route to align with water fountains to make sure they are hydated and don't overheat. Doing occasional jogs on their runs, playing with them in new and unique ways as much as possible, and so much more.
About: I’m not just a sitter I’m your pet’s calm, cozy, reliable home‑away‑from‑home. I specialize in creating a soft, stress‑free environment where pets feel safe, loved, and understood. I communicate clearly, respect your routines, and treat every animal like family. Your pet gets comfort, consistency, and genuine care—not just supervision. Pet care is already a natural part of my daily life as a cat mom. Every day includes feeding, fresh water, litter care, enrichment, and calm bonding time — so adding your pet into my routine feels seamless. I’m used to managing structured play sessions, keeping environments clean, and maintaining consistent routines. Weekly, I plan enrichment activities, rotate toys, and make time for extra grooming or deep cleaning. In my client’s home, I follow your pet’s routines exactly to keep their environment familiar, comfortable, and stress‑free. I provide attentive care—feeding, walks or playtime, litter or potty upkeep, and gentle companionship—while keeping your space tidy and your pet feeling completely secure.
“Theresa was great! I needed someone last minute to drop in on my pups while I was traveling and she got back to me very quickly to confirm she could. She took great care of my dogs, and they can be a bit of a handful. I highly recommend her!”

“Grace was amazing! Our previous sitter dropped out last minute, Grace was available and responsive and we were able to get everything sorted 2 days before we left. She even got our shyest cat out and about and made sure to send plenty of action shots of the cats playing!”

About: 👋Hi everybody! My name is Madison and I can’t wait to meet your fur babies! I am a current Masters student at EVMS studying surgical assisting. I am unable to work full time due to the rigor of the program so I love watching pets as a part time job. 🏡 I currently live in an apartment in downtown Norfolk with my boyfriend of 8 years, Grant. Grant helps out with potty breaks and walks if I am ever not home. We are both students and have internships so if your pet needs someone with them at all times, we unfortunately can only provide this on the weekends. 🐶I have experience with senior & adult dogs, cats, administering medications & puppies! I also volunteer at the Norfolk Animal Care Center in my free time to help out the shelter animals and be involved in my local community. We have no pets in our apartment currently. 🐱If chosen to care for your pets I will treat them with the love and respect that I would give my own pet. I love to send photo updates to the owner so that you can be assured that your pet is in safe hands. I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby! My class schedule is very flexible so I am able to offer frequent potty breaks and walks as needed! This allows me to follow the routine that your pet is already accustomed to I grew up with dogs in my parents home my whole life. My own dogs are spoiled and loved so much, so I will be sure to treat your animals the same way. My dogs love walks, playing outside, snuggles, and treats. I can promise that your animals will be treated no different than my own. I currently do not have any pets in my apartment
“Julie was a great pet friend to Cle while we were away. She left cute pics and updates and always let us know when she was going to arrive. Cle was so happy when she came to play and give lots of belly rubs!”

“Zara was so sweet and took great care of my pack! This was my first time using rover and it was a lovely experience. I will definitely reach out to Zara again when we need someone to check on our pups!”

“Another perfect trip thanks to Larry! Our sweet black kitty Ivy is very shy when it comes to new people. We have been using Larry consistently and now she sees him as part of the family and comes out when he arrives! Thank you Larry for your patience and dedication to our fur babies! Always 10/10 ⭐️”

“Kylie was wonderful with our girls. She was responsive from the moment we requested a drop in sitter to the last day of taking care of them. My fur babies are usually very cautious but by the end they were greeting her at the door. She also sent us photos throughout so we knew the girls were all well taken care. We highly recommend Kylie and will definitely be booking with her again very soon!”

“Brendan was amazing with our dog. When he says “your dogs new friend”, he is not lying. Blu really took to him and loved him. We are thankful we finally found someone we can trust with our dog.”

About: I have had dogs my entire life. From every size and breed, from Beagle to Pitbull-Mastiff mix. Imagine your anxious dog when you get home from work, super ready for a long walk... well that's me. I am a pediatric psych nurse at CHKD so I get home from work and can't sit and relax on the couch. So dog walking or sitting would help to tucker me and your dog out! If you have a strict schedule for when your pup should be fed or walked, or how much food, etc, I will do exactly what you ask. If you have a certain route or play routine, I will oblige. All in all, I want to make you and your dog happy and become a trusted and loyal person in both of your lives! I also have 3 cats so I would also be able to help with your kitties as well!
“Myrna has been so reliable and communicative watching my buddies! She is very detailed in her reports back and is very conscientious when watching your pets. I will be recommending Myrna to friends and will certainly ask for her help in the future!”

Larry did a great job communicating with me during my entire trip and had no trouble adjusting to the moods of my occasionally anti-social cat. I never have to worry when he is looking after her— I always know she is getting the attention she needs from someone who is thoughtful and kind. Great Rover sitter!

Jaclyn took wonderful care of my cat while I was abroad. I felt so much more at ease being away knowing she was in such good hands. Jaclyn was communicative, dependable, and thoughtful throughout my trip. She also handled an unexpected maintenance issue with care and intention, which I really appreciated while being out of town. I’m very grateful for her help and will absolutely be using her again!

Tyler was great! This was my first time using Rover, and Tyler helped walk me through the process. I was able to relax on my vacation knowing that my cat was in good hands. He was patient with my very shy cat and took great care of her, and I came home to a safe, healthy, happy cat! Would definitely book with Tyler again.

We booked Kylie again for our fur babies for a quick weekend getaway, and we are just as happy as our first booking with her. Kylie communicates well, is punctual, and always checking in with us. One of our cats is diabetic and I have zero worries with Kylie, and she has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to looking after our babies and being able to enjoy our trips. I highly recommend her services. She’s a keeper for sure! Thanks Kylie P!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norfolk. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
