“Quinn was amazing as our pet sitter for our cat Leo. He went above and beyond while I was away for several days, and I'm truly astonished at how easy Quinn made my vacation. Leo has a lot of requirements as far as taking care of him, and Quinn rose to the occasion in a huge way, and I really got the safe feeling Leo would be taken care of very well while I was away. Would definitely recommend Quinn as a pet sitter!!! Your pets are in good hands if you do”

“Jordan did an excellent job, the notes she provided on the cards were very informative & detailed. She communicates well & practices the same things with your dogs that you do. I will definitely use her again!”

“Our dog sitter last minute had something come up so we were scrambling to find a sitter last second and larry was amazing. We were nervous at first with not knowing him, but he was quick to respond, responsible, and kept us updated all the time. Our dogs looked so happy in all the pictures and our neighbor said she could tell they were well taken care of. Can not express enough how greatful we were for him! Would recommend him in a heartbeat”

“Grace was amazing! Our previous sitter dropped out last minute, Grace was available and responsive and we were able to get everything sorted 2 days before we left. She even got our shyest cat out and about and made sure to send plenty of action shots of the cats playing!”

“Julie is fabulous! I am so very happy to have found her on Rover! I wanted someone who knew cats, who lived nearby, who did not charge an arm and a leg, who had a reasonable cancellation policy, and, of course, who was responsible. Well, I won the lottery with Julie! Yes, I did! Julie is fabulous, absolutely FABULOUS! From the very start (and throughout the entire time), Julie was fast to respond to my requests, my questions, my texts, etc. It was clear that she wanted to ensure we were on the same page, from the beginning, and that we remained on the same page throughout. Outstanding! And, since my schedule often changes, sometimes at the very last minute, her reasonable cancellation policy will not cause me to hesitate to enlist her services again and again. And, since my cat pretty much goes into hiding whenever I am away, caring for my cat becomes simple, easy, and quick - clean the litterbox, provide fresh food and water, then depart. Well, it was here that Julie went the extra mile. Julie washed out the food containers I use to store my cat's wet food, yet I had not asked her to do that! How very thoughtful and generous! Thank you so much, Julie! Thank you for being a FABULOUS cat sitter!”

About: Cat mom of 2, Jimmi is 25 and rescued from Fukushima Japan during my time volunteering with Japan Cat Network (he’s a bit of a celebrity and was featured on animal planet!), and Pixie is 3 years old. Every cat has their own unique “big personality” that compliments the home and add a little spunk to our lives! My dog Kylo is a rescue from Prince William county VA animal shelter and has been with me since 2018, he’s approximately 10 years old. I recently moved from northern VA and looking to get to know the community better. What better way than through meeting likeminded pet owners! I am currently looking for professional work and availability will be evenings and weekends, but for now I have quite a bit of flexibility to accommodate. I’m in a smoke free apartment with an extra bedroom, a nice dog park, and dog wash station available. I’m happy to also come to your home and follow your routines.
“She has been amazing with responding!! she also shared tons of photos with the cats and made sure to have fun with them and keep them entertained!! would easily boom again with her!!”

There are some people who just have a beautiful energy about them, and Julie is absolutely one of those people. From the moment I met her, she had such a warm, peaceful, and genuinely kind aura that immediately made me feel comfortable trusting her with my cat, Ollie. Ollie means more to me than I could ever put into words, so having someone care for him while I’m away requires a huge amount of trust. With her, I know my boy is being cared for, loved, talked to, and given genuine companionship. She has such a gentle, nurturing presence, and I really believe animals can sense that kind of energy in people. Most of her check in photos are him laying on his back exposing his belly which from a cat owner’s perspective, requires A LOT of trust. Knowing she is with him gives me a sense of peace. She is compassionate, thoughtful, reliable, and just seems to have one of those naturally beautiful souls that animals gravitate toward. I feel incredibly grateful to have found someone I trust so deeply with such an important little piece of my heart. I truly could not recommend her enough

Lisa was wonderful! She followed all instructions, including giving medications to one of our cats. We received daily pictures and updates. The cats liked her a lot, which says a lot about her personality! Will definitely rebook in the future, and highly recommend!

Judy was absolutely amazing! She made the entire experience stress free. She was reliable, communicative, and sent me updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She took great care of my cat, respected her personalities and boundaries, and genuinely cared about her wellbeing.

Larry did a great job communicating with me during my entire trip and had no trouble adjusting to the moods of my occasionally anti-social cat. I never have to worry when he is looking after her— I always know she is getting the attention she needs from someone who is thoughtful and kind. Great Rover sitter!

Tyler was great! This was my first time using Rover, and Tyler helped walk me through the process. I was able to relax on my vacation knowing that my cat was in good hands. He was patient with my very shy cat and took great care of her, and I came home to a safe, healthy, happy cat! Would definitely book with Tyler again.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norfolk. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
