“Kylie was wonderful with our girls. She was responsive from the moment we requested a drop in sitter to the last day of taking care of them. My fur babies are usually very cautious but by the end they were greeting her at the door. She also sent us photos throughout so we knew the girls were all well taken care. We highly recommend Kylie and will definitely be booking with her again very soon!”

“Jelise has been absolutely amazing with Diesel during a very stressful family emergency for us. She went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, cared for, and stayed on his normal routine. I really appreciated the detailed updates, photos, and how attentive she was to his meals, water, potty breaks, and overall behavior. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands while I had to focus on family. You can tell she genuinely cares for the animals she watches. Diesel clearly felt comfortable with her, and that means everything to me. I’m beyond grateful for her kindness, professionalism, and the love she showed my boy. I would absolutely trust her with him again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable sitter.”

“Tyler is our go-to guy whenever we need dependable, trustworthy, and loving care for our two large, rambunctious young dogs. Tyler, thank you so much for providing such awesome care and consequently giving us peace of mind whenever we travel without the dogs.”

“Maggie is an amazing petsitter! Punctual and so caring, she played every day with my cat and took care of everything for her. I felt so relaxed being away thanks to her and I’ve already re-booked her for another time!”

About: I absolutely adore animals! I've lived with pets all my life and right now my two cats bring me endless joy. I love taking walks with my sister and her sweet pup, and I am ready and excited to walk with your furry friend! I'm flexible with my hours and am more than happy to take as long of a stroll as your dog wants. I've lived in Norfolk my whole life and I'm very familiar with all the best places for a great walk. I understand the value of hard work and I'm prepared to bring my work ethic to every job I am offered. I think pets make for the most wonderful friends in the world and I'm dedicated to provide the best and most reliable care to your pet!! I work as a teacher during the school year, so during the summer I am incredibly flexible. I have a lot of availability during the day and on most evenings as well. I am a responsible and reliable pet sitter. I make sure to take the time to get to know your pet and to make them as comfortable as possible. I am clean and punctual, and will always be sure that your pet is fed, played with, and happy!
“Brendan was amazing with our dog. When he says “your dogs new friend”, he is not lying. Blu really took to him and loved him. We are thankful we finally found someone we can trust with our dog.”

About: I have been taking care and been around dogs most of my life! I currently have a puppy and have been working on training him so my patience level is at an all time high! I have had high energy dogs and love staying active with them! I currently work full time but mornings and evenings I’m available! The hours that work best for me are between 6 am and 9 am and then 5:30 pm to midnight! I respect the privacy of others and want to make sure you and your pet are comfortable with me! I am happy to meet you before any services are needed!
About: I started working as a vet tech at 17 and have two years of boarding experience at a veterinary hospital, well versed in schedules and procedures including medication and special needs. Currently working but flexible schedule, willing to work with your needs! Older/less active dogs preferred but happy to play with a puppy when so necessary. I worked directly beneath the boarding manager and trained new staff in observation, care schedules, and proper safety protocols. I also form bonds of trust with any animal I’m working with to ensure their and my comfort.
About: I always send pictures to update the owners, and let them know what we did that day or how the animal was that way they know everything is going smoothly. Just got home for the summer from college. I’m working part time tuesday-thursday 4pm-10pm but other than that i’m super flexible. I care for people’s pets as if they were my own, growing up with animals has made me love each and every animal I see out in public, I’m one of those people who will ALWAYS ask to pet your dog.
“Julia did a great job taking care of my cat while I was away. She was very accommodating and kept me regularly updated on how he was and what they were doing that day. Thanks to her I was able to keep my mind at ease and when I came back he didn't seem at all stressed. I would definitely recommend her and use her again in the future when available.”

About: I grew up on a farm caring for dogs, cats, and horses, and have done various forms of professional pet-care over the years. I have a 8 y.o. dog of my own (Maverick) that I've had since he was 8 weeks old. He, unfortunately, has started to enjoy the presence of other dogs less in his older age, so I do not offer boarding or day care. However, I thoroughly enjoy walks (Mav gets at least 2 a day) and would love to take your pet on a walk or jog. I am also available for drop-ins or house sitting. I am currently working part-time and only nights/evenings. I am available during the weekdays: mornings and afternoons for your pet's needs. I look forward to caring for your pet. As I pet owner with my own idiosyncrasies about the care of my animal, I will follow whatever your instructions entail. Our dog can be reactive with other dogs, so I am well practiced at seeing and avoiding potential confrontations, if your dog is similar. I am unfortunately unable to provide care in my own home due to my dog's reactivity. However, I am excited to provide drop-in and walking services for your dog.
“I absolutely appreciate Isabelle! She was amazing with my babies! The last minute booking, she was a life saver! Sent me pictures and updates every single time! Communication was amazing! Would definitely recommend her and book her again!”

About: I have had pets my entire life, including cats, dogs, tortoises, frogs, hamsters, etc. I love all animals dearly and have experience with young pets as well as seniors! I'm currently working full-time so my availability is limited to hours outside of 9-5 on Mondays through Fridays and weekends. My availability tends to be quite open on weekends. I live in an apartment complex so I do not have a private fenced in yard, but there are plenty of parks and open spaces near my home in which I can provide plenty of walking and exercise space (on leash!)
The median cost per visit for pet sitting in Norfolk is $20

We booked Kylie again for our fur babies for a quick weekend getaway, and we are just as happy as our first booking with her. Kylie communicates well, is punctual, and always checking in with us. One of our cats is diabetic and I have zero worries with Kylie, and she has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to looking after our babies and being able to enjoy our trips. I highly recommend her services. She’s a keeper for sure! Thanks Kylie P!

Jaclyn was amazing with both of my cats, we have never left them with someone who wasn’t family or a close friend, but Jaclyn made us feel like our babies were in good hands the entire time. We will definitely be booking with her again when we go on trips in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 2,284 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Norfolk. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.
Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Norfolk stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.
Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norfolk. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
