“Julie and Kenneth were wonderful with our miniature schnauzer, River! We received updates with pictures on how she was doing throughout her stay with them, and we couldn’t have felt more comfortable leaving her with this wonderful family! Highly recommend!”

“Martina does such a great job with my fur baby! He is always excited to see her and visit. He enjoys her company and the other dogs when visiting or walking. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with Martina as a care provider for my boy.”
“As usual, Hector was so happy being with Amber and Dan! They took a perfect care of him, sending us pictures and concerns. Amber and Dan are just perfect, allowing dogs living their best playtime during the time we have to travel.”

“Megan is absolutely amazing. She will send pictures and videos of your pup to keep your mind at ease along with text updates through out the day. It is so appreciated and can't recommend Megan enough!”

“Rachel was EXTREMELY nice & kept me up to date with Oliver. I wasn’t comfortable with the idea of leaving him but I was immediately put at ease once I met her and talked to her . I absolutely recommend booking with them & I will most definitely rebook with them .”
“It was a great experience booking Nanook with Kathleen. I would recommend her highly and I'm definitely going back. I can see the entire time that Nanook was having a good time. Kathleen genuinely loves dogs and it shows. Five stars!!!”

“Absolutely wonderful! My spoiled and picky old man stayed with Lillian and Timothy for the first time, and I could not have asked for better and more considerate care. They cleverly found ways to get him to take his medication when he was being fussy with his usual turkey wraps. And they sent lots of pictures of him enjoying walks, having cozy naps, and getting plenty of attention and love. 10/10 recommend!”

“Mckayla did such an amazing job watching my Willow over the holiday weekend. The updates were consistent and the photographs were adorable. You could see how happy and comfortable she was spending the night and playing with the other dogs. We will be boarding with Mckayla again!”

“MaryAnn did an awesome job watching my dog. She took her in on short notice over the holidays and sent me great pictures every day. She even gave her a small birthday party with extra turkey for dinner! Highly recommend!”

“Nicholas was an absolute blessing! He accepted watching Buffy on very short notice and went above and beyond from start to finish. He made sure Buffy was well cared for by taking her on walks, giving her plenty of attention, and keeping us updated with constant texts, photos, and videos. He even put an AirTag on Buffy while we were away, which gave us even more peace of mind. This was our first time using the app, and Nicholas exceeded every expectation. We never had to worry about Buffy for a second because we knew she was in great hands. Thank you for everything, Nicholas! If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. We will definitely book with you again!”

About: I have owned and raised dogs since I was a teenager. I have raised many different breeds from Goldendoodles to pit bulls. I currently have 5 dogs that I have rescued. They are all with my fiancé in Texas so no need to worry about your dogs getting along with mine. I am currently active duty but I am on shore duty so I don’t spend a lot of hours in the office. A normal day is around 3 hours and a long day is around 5. Weekends are almost always off. I have a completely fenced in property. I bought the house for all of my 5 dogs but they have since gone to live with my fiancé in Texas. I have no furniture or bed rules. They can hang out or sleep with me anywhere I am. I treat dogs as family and I want them to be just as comfortable as me.
“Shiloh really enjoyed spending the week with Beth and her family! Beth was responsive and was able to take Shiloh in on short notice. I would definitely use her again!”

“Jaime & Anthony took incredible care of Marlin! She looked so happy in all the photos they sent. They treated my pet like their own, and gave her the love and care she needed while I was out of town. I definitely recommend them!”

“Stacy went above and beyond during Lamb Chops stay. I received updates and photos on a daily basis on how Lamb Chop was doing. Lamb Chop usually gets separation anxiety but seemed very happy during her stay receiving the best care and treatment.”

“Louis had a great time with Gail while we were in Norfolk for a conference. He enjoyed her large backyard, the company of her two chihuahuas, and even sleeping on the bed. She sent us lots of photos and updates during Louis’s stay. We would definitely recommend Gail for dog sitting.”

“David was amazing and truly understanding. Our children had a track meet 4hrs away that went over in time by 3-4hrs. David’s flexibility to still provide loving care for our furbaby meant a lot to us.”

“This was our first time leaving our little Golden doodle with Samantha. I will say, I was a bit intimidated by leaving him with a pit bull there, but upon meeting the pit bull he was the sweetest big dog ever. My worries immediately vanished! There were a couple other dogs there, so that was nice. There was one dog a bit too interested in my little guy, so I didn’t want to leave until he calmed down. Samantha never made me feel rushed to leave or weird. She was super patient and asking me if I wanted the dogs split up, or inside or outside. I really thought that said a lot about the person I was leaving our baby with and I really liked that. I say all that to say, you can’t always control how dogs will interact with each other, but you can control how you react to them and Samantha was very calm, kind and friendly. She never looked overwhelmed or nervous. She was a bit embarrassed I think because of the initial behavior of this other dog she was caring for, but I understood that wasn’t a reflection of her care. We left out little guy there 3 days and she communicated through the day with updates, sent photos and even went the extra step of boiling and egg to mix it with my dogs food since we do that for him at home too. I’m thankful we found someone to watch our guy for when we need it! Highly recommend! 10 out of 10!”

“We hired Kylie to take care of our babies for 10 days and I couldn’t be more pleased. I was very nervous as this was the first time leaving them in the hands of someone else for so long. She gave constant updates and took care of my babies just as she said she would. She was in constant communication and everything went smooth. She has no problem giving me pictures and updates. I will happily use her again in the future. If you’re looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, friendly sitter — Kylie is the one. Can’t thank her enough!”

“Jelise has been absolutely amazing with Diesel during a very stressful family emergency for us. She went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, cared for, and stayed on his normal routine. I really appreciated the detailed updates, photos, and how attentive she was to his meals, water, potty breaks, and overall behavior. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands while I had to focus on family. You can tell she genuinely cares for the animals she watches. About: I've been a cat owner for over 12 years, and caring for my own cat, Meeko, has taught me that every cat has a unique personality and routine. Whether your cat is playful & social or prefers quiet companionship, I always take the time to earn their trust and care for them at their own pace. In addition to caring for my own cat, I've provided drop-in care for friends' cats over the years. I know how important it is to keep their routine consistent by providing fresh food & water, scooping the litter box, spending quality time with them, and sending thoughtful updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I work remotely full-time, which allows me to offer dependable daytime scheduling and prompt communication. My goal is to provide calm, reliable care so your cat feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for until you're home again.
“Jordan is amazing to work with! She goes above and beyond any expectations I have. She is super helpful and is diligent in her care towards my cats. She didn’t shy away from trying to figure out the litter robot issues and I really appreciated her efforts for it.”

“Isabelle was awesome!! She had great communication and took very good care of our kitties! The apartment was also nice and clean just how we left it. I would definitely rebook with her again!!”

About: I’ve lived with cats all my life. I have owned and loved some high-needs cats, which has lent me a lot of experience in different kinds of cat care. I have administered oral and topical medication as well as insulin shots for many years. I’ve also taken care of cats with mobility issues as well as general arthritis and pain concerns. I’m comfortable cleaning litter boxes, brushing, and any playtime activities (of course!). I can’t wait to meet your sweet kitties!

About: Hi! I've been operating on Rover for about 5 years now! I've had dogs for as long as I can remember and love being around them. I have experience with all sizes of dogs from Papillons to German Shepards. I am accepting of all breeds, sizes and ages. I've had several dogs with allergies and other health issues, so I am experienced in giving medications, applying any topicals, and noticing any developing symptoms. I also have lots of experience with cats and even have one of my own with medical issues, so I would love to do drop ins for your feline friends! I am currently a student at Eastern Virginia Medical School and am in my last year so my schedule can be somewhat variable. However for the next few months I will be available for mid-day walks/cat visits! I have a 7 year old Pit Bull Terrier that absolutely loves all other animals and can adjust his play style according to other dogs sizes. I also have a small fenced in outdoor patio where your dogs can relax outside with some sun in between walks. I live alone so there won't be too much stimulation from others, and there's plenty of space for your pup to take some time to their selves if needed.
About: I love dogs and have taken care of our family dog. I understand how precious they are and how they deserve to be treated with compassion and love I'm newly retired and would love to provide love and nurturing care to your sweet furbaby! Plenty of space and a large fenced yard! Plenty of rubs and walks I have a plenty of room, a large fenced yard and a friendly senior dog. I am usually asked by neighbors and friends to care for their dogs for short term or long term
About: Hello! I come to Rover with over 40 years of experience caring for pets of all kinds. I’ve spent my entire life around animals, and for over 30 years (beginning as a volunteer at age 14 with my local wildlife museum), I’ve worked hands-on with animals in a variety of settings. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do—it’s something I truly love and feel deeply connected to. Every pet has their own personality, routines, and little quirks, and taking the time to understand what makes each one feel safe, comfortable, and happy is what makes me an exceptional pet sitter. Whether it’s keeping up with your furry family member's familiar routines (such as going for walks, play, and mealtimes) or simply offering calm companionship in whatever form that takes, I cater to each pet individually so they feel as at ease as possible while you’re away. My background in nursing makes me comfortable administering most medications—including pills, injections, and specialized treatments—with confidence and ease. I always follow your care instructions and often take pictures or videos at our meet-and-greet to refer back to later as well. (I can also do more than one meet-and-greet if necessary for an additional cost based on time and driving distance.) In addition to practical care, I bring a grounded, gentle presence and am certified in animal Reiki, which can be especially comforting for anxious or high-energy pets. I also treat your home with the same respect and care I give your pet so that you can return to a calm, tidy space and a happy companion. I currently have a very flexible schedule that can be adapted to a variety of needs, including caring for birds, rodents, reptiles, and more, ensuring I can meet your pet's unique needs. I hope I get the opportunity to meet with you and your pet in person and see if we might make a good fit! I am not currently working outside the home, apart from Rover, and do not accept other jobs while I am caring for your pet (s). When you book me as your sitter I can guarantee that your pet will have my undivided attention the whole stay. Earning your pets trust and ensuring they are always safe, (both inside the home and outside on walls, etc.), is my top priority as a pet sitter. I follow the rules you put into place for their care and will always contact you should there be any concerns. (Thankfully there rarely are!)
About: I’ve taken care of dogs and guinea pigs and bunnies all my life. I treat every single animal as if they were my own and take pride in the small achievements that I help provide as well as the experience they help bring to my life. They are free to roam the house and go on the furniture. I love sending lots of pictures and updates because I know how difficult it is to be away from your "baby". If your pet has any special bedding or toys, feel free to bring them along with you so your pet can feel even more at home. I look forward to spoiling and loving your furry family member while you're away. I live only a few miles away from the Norfolk International Airport and am only a few miles away from the entrance to I 64. I am very close to downtown Norfolk and Ghent. I have a lot of experience with my own dogs as well as dog sitting for others. I am currently a Physician Assistant Student so I will be in class for a few hours per day, but otherwise I am mostly at home. I have a small chihuahua/Pomeranian mix that is 5 years old. Her name is Luna and she is one of the sweetest dogs I have met (maybe slightly biased, but she really is so sweet ;)). About: Dogs & cats have been part of my life as long as I can remember! From having multiple dogs since the day I was born, taking care of family, friends & neighbors animals. But in my recent years, I have been a major cat mom! I currently have 2 cats, aged 1.5 & 14! Yes, very opposite age/energy levels! I handle animals, all sizes, gender, attitude & energy levels, extremely well & treat all fur babies as my own! I’m also comfortable with giving animals medication. I’m also big on other house maintenance. As in, taking out the trash, receiving your mail, watering plants & other basic household needs! I first started off using Rover to have other local animal lovers to watch my babies when I needed a hand. I’m excited to join the wonderful community & give you a helping hand! ☺️ I currently do not work & am located Downtown Norfolk. My availability is open as of now, not including holidays & I will do my best to update my calendar daily or weekly. Certain cases, when communicated, I can adjust my schedule/time! ☺️ I will always follow house rules when coming to new/returning homes. I will spend the entirety of the drop in, with your baby. I want to make sure they are getting my full attention. If other tasks are needed, I will attend to them afterwards.
“I was extremely nervous about using rover my Koda is 70Ibs and absolutely insane in the best possible way. Tyler reassured and explained to me how everything was going to work. When tyler came to the door Koda was in protective mode, thankfully tyler didn’t get scared off instead he suggested a new approach to them meeting and once Koda sniffed him he immediately let tyler take the leash! He was amazing and I will definitely be scheduling with him again!”

About: I changed the direction my life was going and found the REASON was Animal Care. I began volunteering at 2 local Humane Societies in 2013. Very shortly thereafter became employed at both Societies = working 7 days a week with animals. I adopted my first 2 pets (torti cats named Cali & Ava) in the Fall of 2013. Adopted a 3rd torti cat in the Spring of 2014 (named Hallie B). I adopted a chihuahua in the Fall of 2016 (named Clara my grandmother’s name). With the exception of Hallie B they have all crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The 1st in December 2020 then June 2021 and most recently in May of this year :-( 🐾🐾🐾 They were adopted as Seniors. They were the best. After 4 years of Humane Society work I changed direction again in 2017 to a more professional aspect of Animal Care becoming employed at a Veterinary Hospital as a Kennel Attendant for over 7 years. I have performed a number of cat drop-ins around the Gloucester area for various residents affiliated with the Humane Society. One such assignment lasted for almost two months while the cat’s owners traveled to Florida for the winter. I currently work (outside of Animal Care) OVERNIGHT 40 hours WEDNESDAY thru SATURDAY. Those days I am usually available for Animal Care from 8am to 2pm. Sunday thru Tuesday I am totally available. There is some flexibility with my overnight work and the possibility of a little accommodation for Animal Care. I also have to spare some time for my own cat’s care. Quality. Compassionate. Care. is what I provide pets. I want them to have the creature comforts that make them feel all warm and comfy and content.

I am available to meet you and your pet before booking a visit so we can all get time together. I lpve walks and belly rubs or petting cats and just spending time with them at home or on the go. Please feel free to ask any questions. I would love to be your sitter.

“Vivian is the sweetest! My puppy loves her, and greets her like family when they met. She is very prompt and extra accommodating when a few hickups came up. Loved getting her review and rover card details from their walks.”

About: I stop and play with every pet that I meet. I love animals and want to continue my journey with pet care. I am open to doing sitting and walking. I am open to walking in the mornings at anytime after 6am. The sittings will have to be scheduled more in advance as I do have a job. I live on campus so I’m not able to host animals but I am able to walk dogs that live close to my community and I’m able to dog sit if you live close.
About: I have five years of pet-sitting and house-sitting experience as a form of income, but I have been a pet owner and lover of animals for my entire life! Friends, neighbors, and colleagues have hired me by word of mouth, so pleased with the level of care I provide to their home and/or fur-baby. I currently work full-time, Mon-Fri with late afternoon (starting at 3pm) and full weekend availability. I have two cats that I love and care for with all my heart. While I make coffee, I obey their need for a morning treat and roll up the window blinds so they can watch the birds as the sun rises. Our morning routine. I go to work, come home, and give them all of my attention. I care for my clients’ pets in their preferred way, with whatever is relayed to me. Then I always add a little extra love and care. I make sure to know any allergies, places or animals to avoid on walks, and preferred discipline strategies. When I am house-sitting, I follow the instructions handed to me while being sure to make it seem as though I was never there upon my departure. Clean, cozy, and better than when you left it.

“Stacy went above and beyond during Lamb Chops stay. I received updates and photos on a daily basis on how Lamb Chop was doing. Lamb Chop usually gets separation anxiety but seemed very happy during her stay receiving the best care and treatment.”

“Chris and Ashley are an extended part of Zsasz’s family at this point. They have been so warm and caring, and know how to handle stressful situations with animals with confidence and ease. Can’t recommend enough!”

“Rachel is our go to sitter! Our pup loves her and always comes back happy & exhausted (which we totally appreciate). We recommend to her to anyone looking for a reliable and communicative sitter”

“My dog had such a good time and Aurelie took amazing care of her!! Lots of updates and plenty of cuddles, so it was easy to enjoy my trip knowing she was in safe hands.”

“Serena is the sweetest sitter ever! Beans enjoys being with her probably more than she enjoys being at home! I cannot recommend her enough for your pet sitting needs.”

“Lisa took fantastic care of our two pups while we took a week-long vacation. It was obvious when we first met that her primary concern is to give the pups the best care possible. We received daily updates and photos which are priceless when you are almost 3,000 miles away. She even allowed our Mowgli, who does not get into a human bed, to sleep with her and her bed after he helped himself! Highly, highly recommended! Thank you does not cover our gratitude.”
