“Melissa is PHENOMENAL!!! A truly caring and dedicated sitter!! She was patient and kind and understands how much our baby means to us. To say she went above and beyond is a huge understatement!! I wish I could hire her full-time! Her baby Pappy is a huge cherry on top!! We are so happy!!”

About: I love dogs of all sizes and ages! My family recently lost our pitbull, Emma, who was 7 years old, so my mom has temporarily kidnapped my Chihuahua so the house doesn't feel so lonely. Now my house feels a little too quiet without her around. I am loving, caring, trustworthy, and responsible! Your pet is free to roam around the house with me, and I'll make sure they feel comfortable and at home. I enjoy taking dogs on walks, to dog parks, on car rides, to the beach, and anywhere they can have fun and enjoy themselves (with your permission, of course). I like to keep dog parents updated with pictures & texts throughout their pet's stay. I understand that every dog has their own personality and unique needs, and I am committed to giving them the very best care while providing you with peace of mind. I will make sure your pet feels welcomed, loved, and right at home here! I work from home, so I'll be with your doggie for most of the day. The only time they'll be home alone is when I run errands. I care for pets in a safe, loving home with a fenced yard where they can play and get fresh air. They are treated like my own. I follow their normal routines, including feeding, walks, and playtime. I also send regular updates with photos and messages.

Your fur baby will be treated as part of the family! I work from home, your fur baby will receive lots of attention and care. My senior dog loves to hang out and make new friends! I have a large fenced yard with a senior friendly ramp leading out. An X-large crate is available for those who require it. We have pet seat belts available for car rides. My senior dog is very friendly and will love spending time with your pup!
“Melissa and Jeremy were excellent with my puppy. They were able to schedule and play day with him was short notice, and they followed all my expectations. My dog had a wonderful time with them and I will most definitely be scheduling another play date with them.”

“Jason was great with our one year old puppy, Odin! We met with Jason and his dogs beforehand and we could already tell that Jason was going to be attentive and good with Odin. His dogs were all great, too! Odin played the day away and we got updates and adorable pics, which were very much appreciated. We will definitely be sending him back! Highly recommend!”

“I can’t say enough kind things about Michelle. I feel like she’s an extension of our family in how she cares for our puppy. She’s provides an enriching experience for dogs in her care. She is warm, personable and efficient in response to communication. We will use her again.”

About: Hi, my name is Katie and I'm here to help ease your burden of being away from your fur babies! I am happy to help with boarding and in-home daycare options for dogs under 25 lbs. I'm a lifelong pet owner and have years of experience caring for both dogs and cats. I have experience caring for many dog breeds, including shih tzus, beagles, labrador retrievers, poodles and many more! I love all breeds, but am especially obsessed with dachshunds because of my dog Stella! (And our dachshund who crossed the rainbow bridge, Lexi). I also have a 10 year old cat, Sansa, so can only accept dogs who are friendly with cats. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. If you have any questions, please let me know! :) I already have one dog (who loves being around other dogs), so dogs I've boarded in the past have always joined the pack for their stays! The most important part of my job is to make sure your pets are safe and happy, so I am happy to accommodate your pet's preferences.
“My pup had a great time! We barely got out of Timerra's neighborhood and my pup was asleep. Timerra was very patient, thoughtful, and accommodating with my 1yr old, who is very much still a puppy. She updated me and sent photos. I highly recommend Timerra!”

“Nichole has been great with Louie. The pictures I get while he is in her care make me feel relieved that my pup is in good hands. The treat cup she sent home with him was such a nice touch.”

“Daisy had a great time with Cassandra and Tradd. She had a fun time playing with noodle and macaroni as well as their two children. Very thankful we found them and absolutely intend on reaching out the next time we are going out of town!”

About: I have one small 3 legged rescue and just adopted another rescue September 2025 who is recovering from being hit by a car. Both are chihuahua s Prior to moving to Virginia I fostered both cats and dogs. I was known as a foster failure since I adopted many of my fosters and at one time I had 8 dogs. I love all animal but have a special place in my heart for dogs. I am retired and have lots of time on my hands and would love to spend some time with your dog when you are not able to. I will treat them as if they were mine9. I have two small dog that does fine with other dogs. My yard is fenced and secure. I believe dogs belong in the house since they are part of the family.
About: My home can offer you the level of care and attention you want for your pet. I’ve always believed dogs shouldn’t just be “checked on”—they deserve attention, interaction, and a sense of comfort while their owners are away. Your pet will be loved on as if he/she were my own. I’ve had dogs my whole life and have raised several from puppies through their senior years, including a rescue, so I’m comfortable with a wide range of needs and personalities. My home is very pet-friendly, with a large backyard for play and space to relax. I also have a 5-year-old lab and a young child, so safety is a top priority. I only accept dogs that are gentle and a good fit for a family environment. My goal is simple: to give your pet a safe, calm, and genuinely cared-for place that feels as close to home as possible. I am currently working part-time, so I am home frequently. Your pet won't be left alone for long periods of time. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm available 24/7 unless I am going out of town. I usually work Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5pm-10pm. I prefer to do a meet and greet before boarding. I cant always accommodate last minute bookings, but don't hesitate to reach out. I have a large fenced in yard, one very playful 5 year old lab, and a friendly toddler. My dog has free rein of the house and yard. When I am home, I leave the back door open so she can come and go as she pleases. When I leave, I can separate the dogs and crate as needed.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Norfolk commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
