“This was my first time using the app and I was nervous because I never let strangers watch my baby. Chance was in great hands, Heather has a beautiful family. Was responsive when I inquired about Chance and also checked in with me with either pictures or questions about certain procedures I have with him. Definitely grateful and would recommend!”

About: I've been caring for dogs for several years through both personal and professional experience. I worked at a dog kennel for two years, where I cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. During that time, I handled daily feeding, exercise, cleaning, and administered oral medications, including pill medications, while making sure each dog received the individualized care they needed. In addition to my professional experience, I've raised my own puppy and currently have two dogs, so I understand the patience, consistency, and attention that pets need to feel comfortable and safe. I've also provided pet sitting for friends and family, treating every pet as if they were my own. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or prefers a quieter routine, I'm committed to providing reliable, compassionate care and keeping you updated so you can have peace of mind while you're away. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily routine. I work from home during the week, so I'm home most of the day and have the flexibility to provide consistent care, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention. I also care for my own two dogs every day, making sure they get the exercise, enrichment, and love they need. In my home, pets have access to a securely fenced backyard for supervised outdoor time and plenty of space to play. We also use baby gates to help separate spaces when needed, making it easier to keep pets comfortable and safely introduce them to new environments. Since we're currently raising a young dog ourselves, our home is already puppy-proofed, we don't leave out items that could be a hazard, and we're mindful about keeping the environment clean and safe for curious pets. I treat every pet like one of my own and make sure they receive lots of attention, exercise, affection, and regular updates for their owners.
About: I’ve taken care of my dog and my aunt’s dog since I was nine. I’m twenty now and both of my fur babies are still kicking, barking, and happy. I’ve always loved animals, even helping to rescue some when I was little such as these two baby ducks and other little birdies and frogs too. In school, my teacher had a pet chameleon and turtle and I always was excited to help feed them. I actually started majoring in Biology at first in college to be a veterinarian or zoologist. I have a different path now to help children but I still have a passion for pets and other beautiful creatures of this Earth. I will take care of your fur babies just like I did mine and love them just as much. I am a college student as mentioned before but I have all online classes this upcoming Fall semester amd I live on campus but can be at home when needed for boarding. I go to ODU so I can take business there as well but mainly for dog walking or pet sitting at your residence in the nearby area. I do rely on my mother, brother or friends for transportation but they are willing to help and be available as needed. Please give me a chance and you won’t regret it. :) I make sure the pets first get to know me, smell me, and recognize me to be comfortable with me. Then, I interact with them more by playing with them and giving them rubs and cuddles so they can feel more connected and comfortable. Then, definitely make sure they eat and drink the right food for their health and nourishment. Then, walk them so they can do their business and get exercise and always make sure they have a leash on. Next, make sure they are groomed and cleaned well and freshen up from the outdoors. Then spend more time with them until our fun is over and they are returned with their beloved owners. I will have a whole day well planned and you and your fur babies will appreciate it. :)
About: I have one small 3 legged rescue and just adopted another rescue September 2025 who is recovering from being hit by a car. Both are chihuahua s Prior to moving to Virginia I fostered both cats and dogs. I was known as a foster failure since I adopted many of my fosters and at one time I had 8 dogs. I love all animal but have a special place in my heart for dogs. I am retired and have lots of time on my hands and would love to spend some time with your dog when you are not able to. I will treat them as if they were mine9. I have two small dog that does fine with other dogs. My yard is fenced and secure. I believe dogs belong in the house since they are part of the family.
“Rebecca was great with Ellie! Her dogs are very well behaved too and you can tell she’s a dog expert. Professional and timely communication through and through. Will be booking again for doggy daycare!”

About: Hey y’all! My name is Kayla. I’ve been an animal lover since I was a kid. I am 34 years old and grew up with dogs and cats. My family has always been pet centric and I pet sit often for them. My true life passion has always been working with animals, and I hope to utilize my psychology degree to do some sort of animal-child based therapy someday. I am looking to earn extra money to pay off my college loans faster, and break up the monotony of working fully remote. I would love to help out with your fur babies. I am in sales and working 100% from home. Your pets will be treated like they are my own. I spent the last 2 years working and living on a hobby farm before moving back to Va. I’d be happy to help out! I am working from home indefinitely so I can do multiple drop in visits, multiple walks, and give a lot of attention to your pet! I have a dog myself and a cat with a neurological condition. She is completely healthy but requires some extra care. I love animals and wanted to be a veterinarian growing up. I take my dog on multiple walks, and have play time throughout the day with my dog and cat. They’re allowed on the furniture and in my bed. I will treat your pet the same! Plus I have quite a bit of room in my condo so your fur baby will not be cooped up.

I currently have a puppy of my own, so I understand the importance of consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement when caring for pets of all ages. In addition to caring for my own pets, I've also provided care for a friend's senior dog while they were away on vacation, giving me experience with the extra patience and attention older dogs often need. “MaryAnn did a great job with our German Shepherd, Nash! He's a little shy at first in new situations, but he warmed up quickly, and I could tell that he really enjoyed staying with her. She did a wonderful job making sure that he was comfortable and cared for. He really took a liking to her and turned into a Velcro dog with her! She gave very informative updates and sent photos throughout the day. She's also very careful about introductions and making sure that all the dogs get along. I definitely trust her and will be a repeat client!”

“Megan and her family were great. They made sure my dog stayed busy and had lots of attention. She also had fun playing with Megan’s dogs. I will definitely use Megan again in the future.”

“Holly was wonderful with our Murray. Very caring professional and would recommend her to anyone. When we visit the area again we will absolutely contact her to watch Murray! You will not be disappointed with Holly and her care of your fur baby!”

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
