“Sara did a terrific job taking care of Scout and McCoy... they even came out of hiding to see her. I am delighted at how comfortable the cats were with her. I will use her again.”

“Lauren is fantastic! She is so professional, sweet with Mack and a fabulous communicator! We will definitely be using her again and highly recommend!!”

“Joanna is fantastic! We are only in the second week and my little Zoe is thriving! She loves to go on walks with her!! Love her updates from their visit!! Thank you Joanna!!!”

“Meagan is amazing! She really makes sure you can leave your pets feeling like she will handle it. Plus I got home from a friday night shift & she had tidied up my living room area where we all hangout. She truly is the best & she cares for your animals as if they’re her own. I would leave more than 5 stars if I could! Such a great experience every time with her.”

“Mary is the only sitter we use to watch our kitties! We have used her for a few years now. She always goes above and beyond to get photos, give thorough updates, and give all the love and playtime while you are away. I know my girls are in great hands and I don’t have to worry near as much about them.”

“Anna is a great cat sitter. This was Peppe’s first time with someone new. My boy felt safe and loved during my time away, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

“Karen was a lifesaver on a recent last minute spring vacation. I even messed up one full day when booking, and she was incredibly understanding and helpful. I’m new to Rover and have a pack of four dogs (a Yorkie Poo, English Retreiver, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and a Pitt). Karen came by, met my babies, and agreed to take care of them. She is absolutely lovely. She updated me every time she stopped by and made sure I knew the dogs were doing well. She was always on time and even picked up after them when needed (kid lost a stuffy) Thank you Karen, for keeping my babies safe and well cared for.”

About: With over 30 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, I will provide loving, dependable care for your furkids. My background includes pet sitting, animal shelter work, and working as an assistant in a veterinary hospital. Whether your pets need playtime, companionship, medication assistance, or extra TLC, you can trust they'll be cared for like family. As a substitute teacher currently on summer break, I have a very open and flexible schedule to accommodate your pet care needs. Whether you need daily visits, weekend coverage, or last-minute help, I am available to provide dependable, attentive care for your furkids. My flexible availability allows me to spend quality time with your pets, ensuring they receive the companionship, exercise, and attention they deserve while you're away. 🐾 I understand that every pet has different needs, which is why I offer flexible in-home pet care tailored to your family. Whether you need a quick drop-in visit to make sure your pets are fed, have fresh water, and get a potty break, or you'd like me to stay longer for enrichment, exercise, playtime, and companionship, I'm happy to help. My goal is to keep your fur kids comfortable, happy, and relaxed in their own familiar environment while you're away, giving you peace of mind that they're receiving the love, attention, and care they deserve. 🐾❤️ Please note that for the health and safety of all pets in my care, I only accept puppies that have completed their full series of core vaccinations. Because I visit multiple homes and interact with many dogs, there is always a small risk of unintentionally carrying germs or viruses between environments. Young puppies are especially vulnerable to serious illnesses before they are fully vaccinated. This policy helps protect your puppy, as well as the other pets I care for, and ensures the safest possible experience for everyone
“Gage did a great job for us watching our two dogs. He was there for all the scheduled times and did a fantastic job giving them their meds and getting them to eat. I would recommend Gage to anyone and plan on using him again each time we need a dog sitter.”

“This is our first time using Rover. We wanted someone who was mature and responsible and Jeanne was a great fit. She was prompt and caring from the start. She sent messages and pictures every time and followed the details of our instructions. She was also thoughtful and thorough in how she cared for our kitty. We especially appreciate Jeanne giving time and space for our kitty to warm up to her and make sure she was comfortable with interaction. We recommend Jeane!”

“Highly recommend! At the meet and greet she was so easy to talk to and our dog Luna loved her! While we were away I didnt worry if callie and luna were taken care of, she sent pictures of them getting all the love and attention. I think our house was cleaner than when we left too, 10/10 will be using every time we go out of town!”

“Ally is the best!! Book her! She’s very communicative and will make sure your fur babies get some love🥰 We’ve used her twice now and can trust her to make sure our cats are taken care of!”

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life and helped friends and family take care of their pets. I house-sat throughout college. And growing up, neighbors would frequently trust me to take care of their pets while on vacation. I’ve looked after a variety of dogs, large dogs (Rottweiler and Goldens) and small (Yorkies and other terriers). I love them all. I’ve personally owned 2 boxers (one of which I rescued) and grew up with Dachshunds and a Scottish terrier. My husband has owned miniature Schnauzers. We are very knowledgeable in a variety of breeds. I work part-time during the week so there may be times where your pet will have to be alone for at least 8 hrs. We are both very active and outdoor lovers, so your pet won’t be cooped up inside all day, unless that is your preference. We have a fenced yard with security cameras. We pride ourselves on organization and paying attention to detail, so your baby will be prioritized and well taken of.
About: I currently have two well loved pups, both on daily medication. I believe every pup deserves love, regardless of behavior or perceived aggression. I have experience with heartworm positive dogs as well as dogs who experience seizures. I only work part time, and complete education online for the time being so I am available with lots of free time for your furry friend! I will occasionally have my partner over for meals or to just hang out if I am house sitting, depending on the distance and length of the booking. I believe that keeping an animal clean and safe is the best way to ensure health, as well as making sure the animal is comfortable with me. If I am watching someone who is shy, I am more than happy to give them their space (while ensuring they are safe).
“Madison was absolutely amazing with our 11 year old pitbull! She truly went above and beyond to spend quality time with her and provided us with daily updates and pictures. I cant say enough great things about her service!”
“Ashtyn did so well with my puppy Blazer and kitties Choco, Kimchi, and Cider. I had to be away for 2 weeks apartment hunting, and was afraid Blazer wouldn't do well. As soon as she met him they were friends, and I felt so much better about chosing Ashtyn. She took so many adorable pet photos and even cared for the outdoor kitty Cider that I feed with her scabby ears at the time. The pets seemed to really love Ashtyn, as she treated them all like her own. Ashtyn even cleaned up when Blazer freaked out and made a mess in the kitchen and ate pillows...she really kept me updated on everything. I definitely 100 percent recommend Ashtyn for Rover sitting. She's compassionate, thoughtful, caring, and really has a heart for animals. 5 stars!!!”

“Angie was excellent! She was available on short notice for a holiday weekend. My shy dog warmed up to her quickly. She kept me updated the entire weekend with pictures. I will definitely be using Angie again!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Albemarle Acres
Julia did a fantastic job looking in on our pets. She was consistent, arrived within the time window we asked for and stayed with our pets throughout the duration of the visit. Julia paid attention to the specific needs of our pets and insured each of them received the attention they needed. She also dealt with a bit of a homeowner situation as our water line developed a leak the night before the visits started requiring a bit of creativity when it came to maintaining water access for the animals.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Albemarle Acres. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
