“Alicia did an amazing job taking care of our dog! She gave him so much attention and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. We really appreciated the regular updates and adorable pictures she sent, which let us know he was happy and well cared for. It was clear she genuinely cared about him and treated him like one of her own. We would absolutely book with Alicia again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog sitter!”

“Jennifer took good care of our two dogs (one of whom is a puppy) while we were gone. She sent pictures and was attentive to our puppy’s needs and left the house very clean when she left. We really appreciated her help and our dogs were quite happy!”

“Michael was absolutely amazing with our 2 babies!! Our dogs don’t normally love new people, but they loved Michael! He is so gentle and loving toward any dog. Additionally, he gave us daily updates with pictures and kept us in the loop with everything while he house sat for us. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AGAIN!!”

“Carissa took wonderful care of our 2 young kitties while we were away for our wedding weekend and also our overseas honeymoon - 2 weeks in total. She was great about communicating and sending photos, and it felt like our boys were truly loved by her 😊 We knew from her profile and conversations that she had done more dog sitting than cat sitting, but we felt she did a great job of getting to know and connect with our cats while we were away. She snuggled lots with our snuggly boy and “cracked the code” to bond with our other kitty who can be a little feisty and particular 😂 We came home to a clean house and peaceful kitties. Thank you, Carissa - we’d be happy to have you back in the future!”

“Margaret was great! She stayed with our two girls for a weekend- one being medically complex and needing medications at specific times. She gave us frequent updates and we knew our girls were in great hands!”

“We are so grateful to Mandy for taking such good care of our gang and house while we were away. The wonderful daily communication was very much appreciated. No complaints here. Thank you!!”

“Natalie was punctual and our pup loved her. They went on many walks and played in the yard quite a bit! I came home to a clean home and a tired pup. Would definitely book again 😊”

“Conrad was absolutely fabulous. Everyone was very happy and well cared for. Communication was excellent, and pictures were sent as requested. We will definitely be using Conrad’s services again in the near future.”

“Janel was awesome! It was the first time we left the dogs with someone but we felt so at ease with Janel that we never worried while we were gone. Both dogs were happy when we got home and it was obvious she had taken great care of them. We look forward to having her take care of them again!”

“Zap dais a great job even while juggling challenging travel logistics and a major snow storm. I cam home from a long absence to a freshly washed and brushed pet and the house was clean!”

“Yeili was a wonderful sitter to my 3 cats! She gave daily updates and asked questions when she wasn't sure. I appreciate her prompt communication and all the care she showed for them.”

“Haley was amazing! She comforted me by sending updates with photos and videos. I knew my two needy dogs were in good hands and it helped me enjoy my trip so much more!”

About: I used to work and volunteer at a small zoo and was a Vet Tech, so I have a wide variety of animal experience. I have pet sat for many friends and family recently and throughout the years and they have dogs or cats or both. I love doing it and helping out when I can. I can administer meds, am detail oriented, reliable and patient. I have owned cats and dogs my whole life and know what it takes to keep them safe and happy. 😊 I work for myself & have flexible hours so I can easily fit taking care of pets into my daily routine. I come and go consistently and can check in on pets or walk dogs as needed throughout the day during the week and on weekends. I have two friendly cats at home. One loves absolutely everyone, including dogs. The other one is more skiddish and runs and hides from them.
About: I’m a detail oriented, caretaker who treats pets like family, not just a checklist. Someone with great communication skills, a calm confident demeanor and a desire to create a bond with my clients and their pets. Lover of animals all shapes and sizes🫶 I’ve dealt with reptiles, hamsters, crabs, fish, dogs and cats my entire existence. I am currently in a hybrid travel role where 2/3 weeks of the month I’m fully remote. I am 100% available during those remote weeks. I’m an early riser and free most evenings:) I treat all pets and animals like they’re my family, think playful and nurturing! Not afraid to get dirty, build up a sweat, or do whatever it takes to make sure our furry friends (or not so furry) feel loved, and nurtured 🫶
“Leeah was fantastic! Super communicative, punctual, friendly, and took such good care of our active puppy and cat. She also left our house spotless. We’ll definitely be using her again!”

Janel was awesome! It was the first time we left the dogs with someone but we felt so at ease with Janel that we never worried while we were gone. Both dogs were happy when we got home and it was obvious she had taken great care of them. We look forward to having her take care of them again!

Remi was fantastic! She was so friendly, communicative, and reliable from start to finish. She was always responsive, punctual, and clearly cared so much about Lucy. It was obvious that Lucy loved her, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I was able to truly enjoy my vacation knowing Lucy was in such good hands. I would absolutely book with Remi again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and dependable sitter!
Olivia was great with our senior pup and 2 rambunctious bonded cats! She has a very gentle energy and demeanor about her and you can tell she is such an animal lover. She was easy to communicate with, sent us pictures and messages about our babies while we were away, and left our house absolutely spotless! We would love to have her back!

Natalie took great care of our senior dog with mobility issues while we were away for a week, and was very attentive, patient and loving with her! We returned to a happy dog and a very clean house. It’s not every day you find a sitter whose skill set includes special needs dogs. Thank you Natalie for taking care of our pup and our house, and allowing us to enjoy our vacation. We highly recommend Natalie!

We had such a wonderful experience with Michelle! She took incredible care of our puppy, Mochi, as well as our two cats, Mia and Samurai. She was kind, attentive, communicative, and incredibly detail oriented from the very beginning. She even arrived at our meet and greet with a notebook to take detailed notes about each of our animals and their care routines, which immediately made us feel confident that they would be in great hands. Throughout the booking, she kept us updated and sent photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that Mochi, Mia, and Samurai were all happy, comfortable, and very well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and will absolutely book with her again. We feel so lucky to have found someone we can trust with all three of our pets. Highly recommend!

Excellent pet sitter! Amy watched both my cat & cavalier puppy for 2 weeks while I was traveling out of the country. She was always providing daily updates on both pets, extremely courteous, and was very mindful of the house and pet guide. 10-stars! I highly recommend Amy for your pet needs, and will definitely reach out to her again for pet services.

Chris was super communicative and took SUCH good care of our German shepherd. He even took her to the dog pool we have a punch pass to 🥹 We are so grateful for the peace of mind it brought us while out of town for 2 weeks, and will definitely use Chris again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mountain View walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mountain View maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mountain View choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
