“Jennifer was amazing! She sent pics of Luna to let us know how she was doing throughout our trip. She even text me to make sure we got home okay after she had already left for the day. Will definitely be using her again in the future. ?”

“Jenny did a great job caring for Rye and was a great communicator. Rye seemed happy and well taken care of during the time with Jenny, and the frequent photo updates put our minds at ease. Thanks, Jenny.”

“Brae did a great job with our animals and our house! We moved in a week before our trip. She dealt with a broken A/C for a few days and brought her own fans to help keep the house as cool as possible, she broke down extra boxes and put them in our recycling bin before we got home, she sent pictures daily, and left our house very clean before she left. I’ve already booked her again =)”

“Took great care of my animals and home. Lots of updates throughout the day. Made my vacation stress-free and I returned home to framed photos of my pets. Appreciated the extra effort! Great sitter.”

“Natalie was amazing, she took excellent care of Our pets and our home. She actually left it better than when she got here! 10/10 would definitely recommend”

“I highly recommend Mandy for your house sitting and pet sitting needs. She provided daily updates and kept our home very clean! I will be reaching out to Mandy anytime I need a sitter for my pups!”

“Yeili was great! She took my last minute booking request and my two furballs loved her from first meet. I felt very comfortable leaving them and my house in her care. The pictures were great to receive and funny. Thanks again for putting our worries at ease. 10/10 def recommend her! 🙂”

“Kelly was so amazing!! We left for 7 nights and needed a sitter we could trust. She was communicative and sent many updates throughout the day. I was running in a race during my trip and she even created a sign for the race that was “from the dogs” that said “Go mom!” It was the cutest thing ever and an extra special gesture that let me know how caring and attentive Kelly is. 10/10 and I will 1000% be hiring Kelly again! I think everyone should hire Kelly except for the weekends when I need her lol”

“Joanna helped me out with a last minute request and was a real life saver! She is very communicative and was willing to take time to come over and meet our dog beforehand to meet and go over everything.”

“Having Zapora as a dog-sitting guest in my home was a wonderful experience. I would certainly invite her to sit with Honey and Yarra any time. A fantastic experience.”

“Lauren was amazing! The dogs loved her and she kept me in the loop with updates and pictures throughout the day. Will absolutely ask Lauren to sit for the dogs again.”

“Although it was a short stay, Mckinzie did a great job taking care of our pets and house during the holiday fireworks. The pups were comfortable and relaxed when we got home and she followed our requested instructions about taking them out, giving them a treat to relax, and our house rules. We appreciate Mckinzie being available to help on the holiday!”

“Gio did an amazing job taking care of our plants, pets, and home! He was extremely communicative, shared photos and updates, and went above and beyond what was necessary. He handled the task of watering my needy bonsai trees every day and was truly invested in taking care of the house and everything within it. I can’t recommend him enough!”

About: I love dogs of all sizes. I adopted my labrador retriever mix 8 years ago and she is old and stays to herself the majority of the time. I will take them to parks to let them play. Im available everyday after 5pm. I can do drop in visits right before I go into before 6:30am. I am available during weekends. I am very flexible on Weekends. I can also house sit, on weekdays and weekends. My special skills consists of playing fetch, being acting and enthusiastic, and most importantly getting to know your dog and making his time with me comfortable. I cant wait to make new friends and make lots of memories. I’m currently working full time - a hybrid job so I have the flexibility of being home when is needed. I start work at 8am-4:30pm. I do live in a condo which is pretty spacious. There is a grassy area right outside of my condo which is very nice for potty breaks.
“Maddy and Nicole took fantastic care of our dog while we were away. We had a plumbing emergency right before we were supposed to leave for our trip, and they were very flexible and willing to adjust the timing to our needs. They were very communicative and sent lots of pictures. We look forward to having them watch Milk Dud again!”

“Amy did a fantastic job taking care of my babies :) she walked Bee, made sure she took her medicine, and gave them both plenty of snuggles. I would absolutely rebook if needed <3”

“Lara was great with our goldendoodle Carly. She created a real connection with her and upon our return home, Carly was happy and tired as Lara spent lots of time making sure she got walks and ball chases (as well as plenty of cuddle time). Lara also gave many updates along the way to ensure we knew Carly was safe and happy! This was the second time we’ve used Lara and I highly recommend her.”

Olivia was great!! She took exceptional care of our house and our large energetic huskies. She carefully followed all medication and kennel instructions, and kept us smiling with constant picture and video updates. We didn't have to worry knowing they were in good hands.

We are so grateful for the excellent care our dog received! Terri handled a complicated medication schedule with confidence and took amazing care of our dog through a few unexpected tummy issues and even a beeping smoke alarm. She kept us updated, was incredibly reliable, and truly went above and beyond. We had complete peace of mind while we were away and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

5 star for sure! This was my first time having Gio watch my pug. He is a gentle soul with a nurturing spirit and took excellent care of my baby and the apartment. He was communicative, sending updates that left me knowing Ninja was getting exercise and attention. At the same time, Gio was independent and did not require a lot of extra communication on my part, allowing me to disconnect from the routine while on vacation - what a gift. When I returned home, the apartment was cleaner than I left it and he even installed a small device that was laying around. I didn’t and wouldn’t have asked him to do this, but wow - what a nice thing to return to! My dog was happy and calm, seemingly undisturbed by my being away. Would ask him to return in a heartbeat!

Natalie was an outstanding house and dog sitter. She took exceptional care of our Labradoodle, Hudson, making sure he got his medication on schedule, enjoyed long walks, and received plenty of love and cuddles while we were away. It was also wonderful that she brought her sweet dog, Junebug. The two dogs enjoyed each other’s company, and it was comforting to know Hudson had a canine companion while we were gone. When we returned home, our house was absolutely spotless. Natalie treated our home with the utmost respect and left everything impeccably clean. Throughout our trip, she kept us updated with photos and gave us complete peace of mind. We highly recommend Natalie to anyone looking for someone who is reliable, caring, trustworthy, and attentive. She went above and beyond, and we couldn’t have asked for better care for both Hudson and our home.

Although it was a short stay, Mckinzie did a great job taking care of our pets and house during the holiday fireworks. The pups were comfortable and relaxed when we got home and she followed our requested instructions about taking them out, giving them a treat to relax, and our house rules. We appreciate Mckinzie being available to help on the holiday!

Morgan watched my fur babies for a week, house sitting while I was on vacation. She sent several updates, including pictures, had good communication regarding her work schedule and any time she would be away, and deescalated an unexpected tiff between my 2 dogs. She even checked with me about our trip departure and arrival times, stopping by for an extra walk on the last day to get some zoomies out before I flew home. The dogs seemed to love her, and I would definitely hire her again.

Ellie is definitely a dogsitter you can trust. My dog had a ruptured tumor on his heart on the day I left home, Ellie and I discussed the symptoms and then she was willing to bring my dog to ER. My dog survived through the night which was a miracle as the vet had doubts that he would make it. It is because of Ellie's assertiveness and diligence, my dog and I are able to spend more time together for time being until the cancer takes over.

Jennifer is fantastic! I went on vacation knowing my two pups were her top priority, with lots of walks, yard time, and cuddles to fill their days. She is attentive, administered meds and navigated other special needs, and communicated well. Book her the next time you’re heading out of town!

Erica did great watching our Great Pyrenees, Sully! She sent pictures and updates daily and was very communicative. When we came home the house was clean, Sully had fresh food and water, and she went above and beyond by washing the sheets and taking out the trash. Sully and his parents appreciate you!

This is the second time Angie stayed at my house with my special needs pup Joplin. I love the frequent updates - both pics and vids, the attention to detail with her meds, and the cuddles that seemed to always be happening. Joplin was very happy when I returned and is excited to see Angie again soon!

FAQs for House Sitting - Lakeside
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lakeside on Rover is $45 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 8,958 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lakeside. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lakeside walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lakeside maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lakeside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
