“We are so glad that we found William! Our dogs felt immediately comfortable with him from the minute he walked into the house and it was clear that they had had a great time when he left. We already have a second booking with him. The entire process was very smooth. We had peace of mind knowing that our dogs and our house were in good hands.”

“I have so many incredible things to say about Lauren! My poor Clint had just had surgery that didn’t go well, so he wasn’t in the best shape. She gave him his meds, made him feel as comfortable as possible, and continuously kept me updated. She definitely went way above and beyond what a normal sitter should do. Most importantly she made me feel like he was safe. I have already started booking her again! Fantastic Rover sitter!”

“Kelly was so amazing!! We left for 7 nights and needed a sitter we could trust. She was communicative and sent many updates throughout the day. I was running in a race during my trip and she even created a sign for the race that was “from the dogs” that said “Go mom!” It was the cutest thing ever and an extra special gesture that let me know how caring and attentive Kelly is. 10/10 and I will 1000% be hiring Kelly again! I think everyone should hire Kelly except for the weekends when I need her lol”

“Mandy provided a professional service and our dogs loved her. Regular communication every day on how the pups were including photos. We are very happy with Mandy as our sitter.”

“Konner did an excellent job of taking care of Nessie and my home. He came to meet Nessie ahead of time and learn about her care. He kept me informed all weekend and my home was neat and tidy when I returned. I highly recommend Konner.”

“Michael was so great to our dogs. We have an elderly senior 16 year old, who needs a lot of care and Michael was there for all of it. Medication, multiple potty breaks, hand feeding Charlie. Buster got to know him,and became a best friend. The dogs really enjoyed having him. Thank you so much .”

“Jess was absolutely stellar. She is communicative, was absolutely amazing with our people-reactive dog, and left the house sparkling. It was really nice to know that our sensitive gang was in good hands while we were gone. I highly recommend booking with Jess!”

“Keriann was a great fit for house and housesitting our 11 week old puppy and 5yo dog. Her flexible schedule allowed her to let the puppy out to potty frequently and she took good care of both them and our house. She send several pics and updates through our trip. Will definitely book again in the future!”

“McKenzie was great! She took fantastic care of my two pups and sent updates throughout the day. She left our place in great shape and even came back later in the day to check on them before I got home.”

“Brae did a great job with our animals and our house! We moved in a week before our trip. She dealt with a broken A/C for a few days and brought her own fans to help keep the house as cool as possible, she broke down extra boxes and put them in our recycling bin before we got home, she sent pictures daily, and left our house very clean before she left. I’ve already booked her again =)”

“Lilou was great with Lola, especially during the 4th of July for a night of scary fireworks. She was communicative and responsive all week. She sent pictures of Lola playing and Lola seemed to have a great time.”

“Zap dais a great job even while juggling challenging travel logistics and a major snow storm. I cam home from a long absence to a freshly washed and brushed pet and the house was clean!”

“Ashleigh was so sweet and did great with our pup. She was flexible and worked with our crazy schedules. She was so respectful of our house and I think left it cleaner than it was before! We absolutely will use her again next time we need someone to watch our dog.”

“Sarah was very professional and a clear communicator. She sent us really nice pictures of our fur babies and it was obvious how much fun they were having with her. She adjusted her schedule due to the high temperatures to make sure walks happened when it was cooler. Sarah is a very kind and caring person. We would definitely highly recommend her. Thanks Sarah!”

“Margaret was great! She stayed with our two girls for a weekend- one being medically complex and needing medications at specific times. She gave us frequent updates and we knew our girls were in great hands!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Applewood
Sarah recently watched our two dogs overnight at our house and did a wonderful job. She followed our lengthy and detailed instructions, made our dogs feel very comfortable (they clearly adored her!), and left our house super clean and tidied up for us. Appreciated all the updates and photos while we were away as well. We would recommend her highly and we all will look forward to her next stay. Thank you, Sarah!

Amy was great! She sent updates and pictures every day. I felt so at ease knowing someone kind was with my girl to comfort her during a big storm and all the days I was out of town. My girl was happy when I returned and my home was kept clean and respected as well. Thank you Amy!

I can't recommend Sehwa and Adam highly enough! They took incredible care of our puppy, Charlie, who is quite a handful at the moment, while house sitting for us. They kept us updated throughout our trip with thoughtful messages and photos, and they left our home spotless. We felt completely at ease knowing Charlie was in such great hands and can't wait to book with them again!

We couldn’t have asked for a better house and pet sitter than Davian! Taking care of our home and our trio—our dog, Pepper, and our two indoor cats, Shawn and Milo—is no small task, but he handled everything seamlessly. He kept Pepper happy and well-exercised, made sure Shawn and Milo received plenty of affection, and strictly adhered to everyone's regular routines. His communication was fantastic throughout our trip, sending frequent updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind. On top of being wonderful with the animals, Davian treated our home with the utmost respect, leaving it spotless and completely secure upon our return. He is reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely caring, making him everything you could want in a sitter. We will definitely be booking Davian again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone looking for top-notch care!

Bridget was so sweet and kind to our elderly lab mix, Coal. We came home after 7 days to a very happy, well taken-care-of pup! She was a great communicator, and sent lots of pictures and updates every day we were gone, which went a long way to making us feel stress free about our furry family member. Great job and thank you, Bridget! 🙏
Seth is genuinely the best Rover sitter we have ever had. We have used him many times, and will continue to book him in the future! He sends so many amazing updates, and leaves our house in immaculate shape. Our pets love Seth as well! He takes such great care of them. 20/10 would recommend Seth to anyone!

Jasmin is fantastic! She truly cares for animals as if they’re her own and takes great care to send pics and updates daily. She took time to get to know the house, the pets, and the instructions ahead of time so everyone felt good before we headed out on vacation. Having someone care for your pets can definitely cause some nervousness, for the pets and parents alike, but Jasmin completely calms those nerves for all involved. Thanks for such a great experience, and I’m sure my fur baby will be excited for your next stay :)

Clara was super responsive, caring, loving and perfect for our dog. She was so sweet and was respectful. She was able to give complicated care to our sweet dog for eight days while we were gone, took care of my plants, and even washed all the towels and sheets. She took many pictures and handles everything our dog needed. I would hire her again!!!!!
Stephanie is great with our dog and our house. She gets him out on multiple walks a day, is very responsive, sends lots of pics, and does a great job with him. I trust her to take good care of our boy and know she’ll keep us posted if anything happens. We’ve used her a few times now and I’d definitely recommend!

Corey was great. One of our dogs experienced tummy problems while we were away and Corey was very good about keeping us informed about the situation – and cleaning up the mess. Even had good recommendations for products to help with stains on the rug. We really appreciate everything Corey did for our dogs.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Applewood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Applewood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Applewood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
