“Jessica stayed at our home for two nights to house sit our 2 year old, extremely demanding, puppy. Jessica takes great care of our home and our puppy. This booking required giving our pup medication via a special method and it was no problem. Jessica is fantastic. We really appreciate the care she provides and we return to a happy puppy.”

“Mandy was available last minute to stay at my house for a few days and take care of my cat Willow. She was super flexible and very communicative. I could tell from the pics she sent that Willow (who is not the most affectionate cat) really warmed up to her! She also took great care of my place. Would definitely book her again!”

“William was absolutely incredible! He is so caring and took such great care of our animals and home! You can tell he takes watching pets and homes seriously and we can’t wait to have him back to stay with our dogs and cat, they adored him! Can’t recommend William enough!”

“Lila did an amazing job watching our two dogs, one of whom has storm anxiety that can be difficult to deal with. Lila did fantastic though! Knowing our dogs were in caring and capable hands made our vacation even more enjoyable! Would love to be able to rebook her in the future, and would highly recommend her.”

“Brae did a great job with our animals and our house! We moved in a week before our trip. She dealt with a broken A/C for a few days and brought her own fans to help keep the house as cool as possible, she broke down extra boxes and put them in our recycling bin before we got home, she sent pictures daily, and left our house very clean before she left. I’ve already booked her again =)”

“Katie watched our boy for a long weekend and was so wonderful to work with. She was very communicative, came over for a meet and greet and sent great photos of the pup. She left our house clean and organized. Thanks Katie!! We will be using her again!”

“Lilou was great with Lola, especially during the 4th of July for a night of scary fireworks. She was communicative and responsive all week. She sent pictures of Lola playing and Lola seemed to have a great time.”

“Adyson is truly the best! She is always so kind, professional, and just overall so great with Minni! She always sends really great photos and videos with updates - we just appreciate her so much!”

“Nice was a pleasure to work with. From the meet and greet through the weekend, she was very communicative and just so sweet with our senior pup. He developed a bit of a GI bug and she hand fed him chicken to make sure he got his pills down. She sent photos and updates each day and left our house tidy. I would definitely recommend working with Nice for your pet care/house sitting needs!”

“Jeffrey (Ben) did a wonderful job house siting for our two pups (both of whom are a little high-maintenance). He sent a bunch of pictures and updates throughout our trip, which made it much easier to be away from them. It seems he spent plenty of time with them during the day and kept up with their walk routine. Would definitely recommend!”

“Michael was great and was very helpful in securing a short-notice sitter. He was flexible and able to adapt to my larger pack. Very communicative and was able to accommodate their various needs. I would recommend Michael to anyone looking for a sitter who may have a less typical pet situation.”

“Mitch always does such a great job with Georgia and I can tell she is well taken care of with him. Thanks to Mitch as well for his flexibility when we had to adapt our plans from a major snowstorm!”
“Rachel watched Finley for 5 nights while we were out of town. She took great care of him and it was very clear he bonded with her. We will definitely use Rachel for future needs!”

“Krista was absolutely amazing! My cat was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and I am currently figuring out which medication works for her and making sure she eats enough. I was a bit nervous to leave for a trip during this time. Krista was the best cat sitter I could have asked for. She was extremely communicative, sent tons of photos and videos, and even made a daily log about my cat’s meal times, medication timing, and how she was doing each day. I would rebook with her and recommend her in a heartbeat.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Leyden
El does an amazing job with our dogs. She *really cares about our dogs... she loves them, stays with them and looks out for their needs. I have hired alot of different sitters over the past 3 years as I travel alot for work. El, by far is the best in so many ways. I intend to keep booking her as long as she is available.
Olivia was wonderful! She took the time to meet with us beforehand to go over all of our dogs’ needs, which gave us so much peace of mind. She communicated clearly, sent daily updates and pictures, and made us feel confident that our pets were in great hands. She truly went above and beyond as we came home to a super clean house, as if no one had even stayed over with our pets. We will absolutely book her again.

We would give 1,000 stars if we could! Cassandra is a godsend. We were in a panic after finding out our family member that typical stays with Bitsa was unavailable during a 2-week trip across the world and we only had three weeks to find someone who I trusted and could stay in our home. I was so happy to find Cassandra on Rover. She didn’t even blink an eye after telling her about the separation anxiety Bitsa suffers from that usually keeps her from eating for a couple days after we leave, and also requires Bitsa isn’t alone for more than 4-5 hours a day. She was so patient with her and had her eating by day two!! We received pictures and updates everyday which I loved. Bitsa was so well taking care of I had to write this review the night we returned. We had an unexpected flight delay and she was happy to stay a couple hours longer to make sure Bitsa has dinner and a walk. It was a total surprise to walk in the door and find our home so clean! We greatly appreciated all Cassandra did for us, and Bitsa and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a first-class pet sitter!!

Tania was a perfect housesitter for our GSD Nova while we were away for a multi-day ski trip. She was very flexible with us as we were struggling to leave and return on time, and was willing to help when a special delivery was scheduled for us while we were away. Nova seemed to really like her, and she was excited to run through training sessions with Nova each night. She also provided some of the best photos of Nova we have ever seen! I would absolutely recommend Tania to anyone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Leyden walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Leyden maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Leyden choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Leyden. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
