About: Have dog sat a couple of times. I don't have a dog, but willing to have one around the house for those who need a dog sitter for a few days. My wife and I have opposite work schedule, so someone is home about 85 % of the time. Would be able to have someone take dogs for walks throughout the day, or watch them in the back yard Pets will be indoor. Have a fenced back yard when needed to go outside for bathroom needs. We don't have other pets , so your pet would not take away attention from your pet

About: Growing up, I was always interested in learning about different dog breeds and had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. Though I did not become a veterinarian, I do have a solid background and understanding of animal healthcare and wellbeing thanks to my undergraduate studies (B.S. Zoology, some Animal Science) and ongoing interest in pet health and dog training. While still in high school, I worked briefly in a pet boarding facility where I prepared morning and evening meals, administered medications, and supervised outdoor play for large groups of dogs. From this experience supervising large groups of dogs, I became more familiar with canine body language and behavioral cues. My sheepadoodle, Ivy, came home to me at about 10 weeks old; so I did potty train and leash train her with positive reinforcement using her favorite treats. I also had the opportunity to foster a litter of 5 puppies in college and potty trained them as well. In addition to my experience with puppies, I have cared for a few senior pups including my brother’s aging border collie and pitbull mix and my late Great Boxer (Great Dane/boxer), Grover. In my experience caring for senior pups, I became familiar with the medical issues that come along with increasing age such as arthritis, incontinence, deafness/blindness, and even cancer to name a few. My own pups have also had sensitive skin, digestive issues, and recurrent ear infections. Managing these health issues at times required daily cleanings, ointment applications, and attention to ensure that wounds or infections healed without interference. I work part-time in a hospital lab, with a fixed schedule. I work 4 days in a row, then I am off for 10 days. When I am not working in the lab, I am at home caring for my two young children (ages 3 and almost 2) and 5 year-old sheepadoodle. We enjoy spending time outside in the backyard or going for walks around the neighborhood. Any dog that steps paw inside my home is treated like family. If your precious pup requires *special* treatment, I try my best to adhere to any instructions provided. I have a large crate, along with dog blankets, if your pup is into that sort of thing. It is spacious enough for any standard medium to large sized dog. I do have a decently sized backyard with 6 ft privacy fencing all around, and larger smooth rocks surrounding the grass. If your pup is not great with tiny humans, loud noises, or just the general chaos of a young family, please consider a sitter with a calmer environment that better meets their needs.

Shelly was a great sitter for Chief while I was out of town. Chief was taken on walks and was given plenty of attention. I also enjoyed getting text and picture updates while being gone. The normal anxiety that Chief experiences when I leave him with someone, Chief did not display with Shelly. Her home is a relaxing atmosphere, and Chief enjoyed his time there. We recently lost our other dog to old age and this was the first time Kaia was staying with a sitter by herself and our regular sitter was unavailable, so I was a little nervous for her, but Erich sent lots of pictures and funny updates that helped put my mind at ease while we were away. He has a great backyard space that Kaia loved hanging out in and I heard she particularly loved watching the chickens. Leah was amazing! She sent lots of updates and videos and photos. The dogs went to the lake and chased squirrels and got to run around and play with her dog while also getting cuddle time on the couch. The dogs came back just as they were before and probably even happier. So much better than a boarding facility where my husky has come back pretty traumatized and with unwanted behaviors from. We’ll be using Leah for all our future boarding if possible!
