“First time using Rover. My dog is a little shy around a new environment, but her care quickly put him at ease and he had a great time! Lots of videos and photos were provided. We're so glad to meet Niratcha. Thank you so much!!! He will return to you soon.”

“Shelby had a great time staying with Karin! Karin provided regular updates and pictures, and took great care of Shelby, I was very satisfied and will book with her again, thank you Karin!!!”

“Thank you so much for taking such good care of our Pup. He came back happier than he came which puts a lot of pressure on me as his owner. Jayda was amazing and was communicative throughout Hiro’s entire visit.”

“Dickson was absolutely wonderful with Zeus and our puppy, Gaia. We received pictures and videos throughout out vacay and we did not worry about the doggies at all. The big back yard was wonderful for them to run around. We will definitely be using Dickson again.”

“Jorge and Susie took wonderful care of my dog. They treated her as if she was their own. I will book them for any future trip and feel secure in knowing my baby will be in good hands ❤️❤️❤️”

“Carisa did a wonderful job. She took really good care of my dog Simba. She was really attentive, and everything went off without a hitch. I could tell Simba was comfortable and happy, and it just gave me so much peace of mind. Overall, I’m really grateful for how smoothly it all went.” I would highly recommend her.”

“Dorene was absolutely amazing. She took such good care of our boy, Beau! I am always nervous to leave him with anyone because I want him to have the best care possible and I know no one will care for him like we do. Dorene exceeded our expectations. She knew I was nervous about leaving Beau and she made sure to keep my mind at ease. She kept me updated every day with pictures and even on the busy days during our trip when I didn't get to check in, she checked in with me to let me know how he was doing. I would highly recommend Dorene to anyone that needs a sitter for their fur babies.”

“Alicia was the best! I knew from our meet and greet that she was going to be great with Tig and of course she was. I had no worries while we were out of town as she sent updates and photos of our Tig often. I can tell he is going to miss his new hangout and all their love & cuddles. I will absolutely book again if I need to in the future.”

About: My husband and I have had dogs our entire lives. We have been fostered dogs in the past and our children and current dog both love friendly furry pets! I have very open availability- I am a stay at home mom and 2 of my kids are in school. So outside of drop off and pick ups I have open availability! I have a fenced yard and a friendly small dog to keep your pet company! We enjoy going on walks around the neighborhood and playing fetch in the backyard.
“Katie and her family kept Tank warm and happy during the crazy cold weather while we were on vacation! He walks in like he owns the place which means we don't worry about him a bit. Appreciate your excellent care.”

“Our dogs had an excellent stay with JoAnne. They were loved on and treated like part of the family. I truly felt like I’d left them in the caring hands of friends. She sent us several pictures of them throughout the week with reports of the fun they were having and didn’t seem to have any trouble with their weird quirks of barking at the tv or cowering at thunder. I would definitely book here again and recommend to all my friends with dogs.”

“Chris was magic to work with. Super communicative, easy-going and ultimately a dog lover. I highly recommend Chris for anyone who is looking for extended dog boarding. (We used Chris for over a week while moving down to Florida). Thanks again for having our Pyradoodle!”

“She's simply the best! Reliable, caring, and good at keeping in touch. Sending me photos daily and brief updates on what Sugar is doing. Thank you, Beth! You made taking this vacation a little easier knowing Sugar was in good hands.”

“We hired Judith to watch my 12 year old dog in her home. My dog seemed to really enjoy her stay and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with her. Judith provided twice a day updates which I really enjoyed! She verified with me before I left that twice a day updates would be appropriate which I appreciated too. I would definitely recommend Judith! You can really tell she genuinely cares about dogs. :)”

About: I've been taking care of animals since I was 14, and they are part of my love language! I've taken care of and have had a wide variety of pets, dog sizes, and different medical needs. Part of my life's calling is to be with animals and give them all the love. We live on a 7-acre farmette, with land to roam and play, and forest as well. We have a barn that houses 23 free range chickens and ducks. These are also my pets who I love dearly. I have 2 cats, a brother and sister names George and Lucy who are total love bugs. My daughter Teagan is almost 6, and has been around animals since she was a baby. I am currently working full time, 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday. I work remotely from my house on Fridays. I am off on Saturday and Sunday all day. We live on a 7-acre farm in a two-story house with privacy. Our house has plenty of room to accommodate different dog sizes. Our acreage also provides plenty of room for dogs to run and play!

“Paul was fantastic. He took care of Lux, our yellow lab, for six nights and sent us photos everyday. Since we traveled out of the country, he made the effort to e-mail us. They went hiking, to dog parks, and played a lot together. Paul is very lenient and will accommodate your needs to ensure your pet has a safe and happy place to stay while you travel. I will definitely be using his service again next time I travel out of country.”

“Jeannie was great with our older Chihuahua mix. We recently adopted our dog and this was the first time we had left her in someone’s care. The updates were much appreciated. We plan to book with Jeannie again when we need to board our pet.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lake in the Hills
Natalie was amazing throughout the entire stay. She was very attentive and responsive, and she sent me photos every day, which I really appreciated. Nala had so much fun and was so well taken care of. It truly felt like Nala was having her own vacation with Natalie and Paisley while we were on vacation. Paisley is incredibly sweet and friendly, and she and Nala got along so well. I could tell Nala was happy, comfortable, and loved the whole time. I would absolutely trust Natalie again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
