“David and Mary were great! They sent me pictures of how my dog Pluto was doing when I dropped him off on an extended stay of 9 days. I could tell that he was loved and had a very comfortable stay with David and Mary. Would definitely book with them again.”

“Katie is a dog lover's dream sitter! Bruno adored her, and I appreciated the regular updates and photos. She's trustworthy, reliable, and gave me peace of mind while I was away. Thank you, Katie!”

“Steph was awesome! This was my first experience with Rover and I have a Boykin Spaniel, which is a 16 month old 40lb high energy hunting machine. She excepted the challenge and treated Kola like he was her own. Very pleased with the whole experience and Steph. I took a fly-in fishing to the northern woods of Canada and due to fires and bad weather in the area had to extend my stay for an additional two days up there because the float plane couldn't come get us. Steph rearranged her schedule to accommodate me. I didn't expect her to do that but greatly appreciate her for doing so. I highly recommend Steph, will use her again in the future (that is if she'll let me LOL).”

“If I could give 10 stars I would! Carla and her family were such a great match for our two dogs. Our 2 girls came home happy & tired. The dogs got even more love, attention and exercise than normal and Carla gave me so many updates while I was away. As a pet parent we will 100% be using her again as it was one of the best experiences we've had and we had the best piece of mind while we were gone.”

About: I have taken care of my own animals since I was 9 years old and I also have experience in teaching them tricks. I have also taken care of the pets of my neighbors and friends since I was 16 years old, I have fed them, I have given them walks, I have bathed them, animals of all ages with old pets I tend to be very careful in their feeding as well I give them a lot of love, when we are at home I give them massages that are especially for animals and they relax a lot, it helps them with stress. He always treated them with a lot of respect because for me animals are the purest, most beautiful being and that they give their unconditional love. I always take care of all the details with the client and the pet in order to provide a quality service and that they leave very happy. In the mornings I go for a run and I like the company of puppies to be able to make it more fun and I feel great when I spend moments with them and their love so cute that they transmit. In my house they can receive all their meals and hydrate, play with them and that they can rest, I also take them for a walk, they receive a massage time especially for animals which helps them with stress, I teach them tricks always with love and respect. In the customers' house it would be the same or it would depend a lot on what they request, since each animal has different needs.
“Christine is so good with Sparky. He is an older dog and we never worry about him while he is with Christine. She takes care of all of his needs and we can tell that he loves going there. I would highly recommend Christine.”

“Jayda was absolutely amazing with, Link! From the very first visit, they were so kind, reliable, and clearly great with animals. Link can be a little shy, but he warmed up right away, which says a lot! We loved getting the daily updates and photos; Thank you so much, Jayda, for treating Link like your own. We’ll definitely be booking with you again! 🐾”

“Penny was amazing! I left my pup, Ginger, with her for 2 weeks while we were out of country. Penny sent pictures of Ginger and made sure she had plenty of activity. I even noticed that Ginger had lost a few pounds that she needed to lose! I would highly recommend Penny!”

“Roberto and his family did a wonderful job sitting for our dog Hopper while we were on vacation for two weeks. He sent us pictures and updates every day or two. They really made Hopper part of the family (even though Hopper kept stealing all of their dog’s toys and attention). We were very happy to be able to leave Hopper in a home where he was so well cared for.”

“Kaylee is the absolute best!! She cares for our puppy weekly but had him for a very long weekend and provided some many great updates and even when our guy was anxious - she was so attentive!!! The best of the best.”

“Rosie's love and care for our two dogs, Charlie and Peanut, was excellent. We boarded our ten-year-old special-needs dog (Peanut) and our fourteen-year-old senior dog (Charlie) for a few days with Rosie. She was able to administer medications and handle the different needs of each dog. We also greatly appreciate the help of Rosie's little dog, Bella and her daughter, Ruby. We have already booked a second boarding stay with Rosie due the confidence we have in her care for our doggies. Hooray!”

“Hannah was incredible! She has such a way with dogs. You can tell from the moment you meet her, that she is just the most warm and caring person, and that extends to all the furry friends, too. She was flexible, asked all the pertinent questions, sent daily updates, and I loved all the pictures she sent. I would absolutely trust her to take care of my dog again. Highly highly recommend!”

“Michelle was great and went completely out of her way to pick up meds for our dog and administer while we were out on vacation. Always nice knowing your pets are with someone who truly cares for their well-being.”
“Alex was so great with Appa. She is super responsive and even before drop off left us with a reassuring first impression that we were leaving our pup in great hands. Coordinating drop off and pick up was super smooth. She sent very frequent updates with amazing commentary. We definitely look forward to working with Alex again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
