“Alyssa is simply amazing!! This is the 3rd time I’ve used her and she always does a phenomenal job. Traveling is always a bit stressful but knowing Alyssa is with my animals I am able to fully enjoy my trip. She is an outstanding house guest and really cares for my animals. I cannot recommend Alyssa enough!! Selfishly, I wish I could keep her to myself but that would truly be an injustice to all the other fur babies that are privileged enough to be in her care. If you want someone to take care of your animals and care for them as much as you do, go with Alyssa!!”

“THANK YOU so much for taking such good care of Freya! We had Katelynn stay at our house for 5 days and we got so many updates about how Freya was doing. Will ABSOLUTELY continue to book Katelynn, especially since we have a major surgery coming up for Freya and there might be days where I cannot come home and check on her during work. Thanks again!”

“Lauriel is very responsible with Archie. She is communicative, prompt, respectful and always available. She respects my home, and genuinely cares for Archie. She sends me pictures and updates and checks in on him on days she is not with him. She is quick to respond and always willing to help me out!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life. Currently live with 2 dogs and 2 cats, and my family has 3 other dogs! I’ve dog-sat for many years, both staying at homes and frequently checking in. I have a natural way of connecting with animals, and I love spending time with them! During the summer, I will have availability to walk dogs, let dogs out, and care for pets during the day and evenings on weekdays. June weekdays I am available after 12, and July weekdays I am available all day. Weekend availability is not consistent throughout the summer. I live with two dogs and two cats. I walk the dogs frequently, feed them breakfast and dinner, and keep their spaces clean and safe! I monitor pets as they chew on toys, and throw away toys that could be dangerous. Managing 4 pets is a handful, but I love it!
“Danielle did an amazing job with our boys! She kept us informed of how they were doing. Great communication and we would be happy to have her stay here again. Highly recommended!!!”

“Michele did a great job watching our Livia while we were in CA. We were very comfortable knowing she was well taken care of. Michele took Livia for a morning walk daily and kept us updated with pictures and notes. She is highly recommended and we wouldn't hesitate to use her again.”

“Stephanie stayed with my dogs for two nights while I was away and did an amazing job. While she was there, sent photos and updates which was lovely. And not only did she take the dogs for their scheduled walks but she spent quality time with them at the house which I’m sure the dogs LOVED. I hope to use her again soon!”

“Jacqueline took good care of my Jojo while I had to be on a work trip. She always communicated with me, sent pictures, and Jojo enjoyed being with her. Jojo is a reactive dog, and Jacqueline handled it well. I definitely recommend Jacqueline for dogwalking, sitting, etc!”

“You know you have a good sitter when you aren’t stressed about your pups while you are away from home. Ashley was great, checked in prior to stay to confirm details, sent updates with pics and kept us informed while we were away for the weekend. Having 2 senior dogs is no joke and Ashley handled them fantastically.”

“Foles came to our lives like a bright comet- Beaming with bright smile and reassurance that we are leaving our two beloved boyz in her good hands. She spoke and taught about animal / dog behavior enthusiastically and was patient with all our questions. When it was time for us to go on our vacation Foles took over and our boyz did not missed a beat, they remained calm happy and stayed in their daily care and routine- which allowed me to actually feel happy to go on vacation knowing I have absolutely nothing to worry about. She kept us connected with videos and pictures and stories every single day. I feel we have gained trusted friend who will always be there when we need help looking after our Frankie and Max. As she started to leave and hand us back our boyz , they hurried to the door as if to say “thank you and we will miss you “ because they knew they had a great care with her. Bless you Foles bless you many times indeed.”

“Grace was excellent! She provided updates when needed and was very helpful and attentive to our requests and instructions. We came home to a happy, healthy puppy and a clean house. All we could ask for in a sitter! We will definitely be booking Grace again! Thanks, Grace!”

“Very reliable and always punctual. Considerate of our routines and home. Gives me a peace of mind knowing my anxious girl has someone to lean on while we are gone. Appreciate that Marylin will communicate with me throughout her stay with my precious pup. She is just what my girl needs…..a calm, confident member of the pack”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Carpentersville
Katie was absolutely wonderful! She took great care of Wren and Lucy. She shared many photos and updates during our trip out of town to visit our grandchildren. Having Katie watch our dogs gave us a great piece of mind, and the dogs had a wonderful time, too! Thank you, Katie, for going above and beyond in caring for our dogs.

Eloise was absolutely wonderful with Bella and Archie! She sent periodic updates throughout her time with them and I felt incredibly comfortable with her watching the loves of my life! I will absolutely book with Eloise again and I highly recommend her for any of your pet needs!!!

Lauren was great! She was dependable, communicative and conscientious. We were gone for 6 days and she looked after our home and our little buddy. She sent us a cute pic or video almost everyday day which made me smile and feel secure that he was cared for and having fun. We would like to have her back next time! 😃

Lydia sat for my 2 dogs for 8 days while I was visiting family. The dogs did just fine and seemed happy when I came home. The deal was to stay in my house where they felt safe and at home. They stayed at her house instead, not what I had planned. But they were safe and taken care of and that is what matters. I received a few photos and minimal communication. It is hard to leave our loved ones at home, but everything turned out fine.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carpentersville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carpentersville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carpentersville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
