Alyssa did a great job with our 10 month old German shepherd puppy! After a bad experience at a boarding facility, he has been very fearful of new people. He was anxious meeting Alyssa at first but they became quick friends! We were very nervous to be leaving him with a stranger but we are so appreciative of Alyssa for taking such great care of him!

I help rescue and foster special needs dogs, those physically or mentally abused. While helping Sadie as a temporary foster, no one in the rescue group was willing to take care of her. So, I decided to add her to my family. I say this because I need someone that understand how to care for Sadie emotional needs. From the very first time Sadie and I met Jordyn, we knew she would be the perfect sitter when I travel for work. Jordyn gave so much love to Sadie while I was gone that I was able to focus on work and not worry about Sadie. Jordyn was amazing sending me updates and photos!! When I travel for work in the future Jordyn will be the only person I call to take care of Sadie.

Michele did a great job watching our Livia while we were in CA. We were very comfortable knowing she was well taken care of. Michele took Livia for a morning walk daily and kept us updated with pictures and notes. She is highly recommended and we wouldn't hesitate to use her again.

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life. Currently live with 2 dogs and 2 cats, and my family has 3 other dogs! I’ve dog-sat for many years, both staying at homes and frequently checking in. I have a natural way of connecting with animals, and I love spending time with them! During the summer, I will have availability to walk dogs, let dogs out, and care for pets during the day and evenings on weekdays. June weekdays I am available after 12, and July weekdays I am available all day. Weekend availability is not consistent throughout the summer. I live with two dogs and two cats. I walk the dogs frequently, feed them breakfast and dinner, and keep their spaces clean and safe! I monitor pets as they chew on toys, and throw away toys that could be dangerous. Managing 4 pets is a handful, but I love it!

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover with hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I currently have an elderly Jack Russell Terrier and a spunky Chocolate Lab, so I understand the unique needs of both senior dogs and energetic pups. I’m comfortable caring for puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, including administering medications, following feeding schedules, maintaining training routines, and providing individualized care based on each dog’s personality and needs. Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or a slower pace, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them feel comfortable and happy. I have experience with quirky personalities and understand that every dog is different. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. I treat every dog as if they were my own and believe in providing plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and consistency. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! I have a flexible work schedule, which allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs throughout the day and week. Whether your dog needs a midday walk, early morning care, evening check-ins, or weekend visits, I’m often able to adjust my schedule to provide the care they need. Every dog and family has different routines, so I’m happy to communicate with you to create a care plan that works best for both you and your pup. My goal is to provide dependable, consistent care while keeping your dog’s routine as normal and stress-free as possible. Feel free to reach out with your scheduling needs—I do my best to be flexible and accommodating whenever possible! 🐾 Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. I understand that trusting someone with your furry family member is a big decision, and I take that responsibility seriously. I carefully follow all care instructions, including feeding schedules, medications, exercise needs, and training preferences. I believe consistency helps pets feel secure and comfortable while their owners are away. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing how your pet is doing. Whether your dog is energetic, shy, senior, or still learning the ropes as a puppy, I strive to create a safe, positive, and loving environment tailored to their individual needs. I treat every pet in my care with the same attention, patience, and affection that I give my own dogs.

Hannah was outstanding. Our schedule changed slightly at last moment and Hannah changed her schedule to accommodate and arrive to our home and be with Harley soon after we had to leave. Hannah kept us up to date and posted lots of photos of our beloved Dog Harley as well as all the walks and loving she provided. We came home to Happy puppy and very clean home. Hannah was awesome and we look forward to having her sit with our dog again in the future.

Toby is super punctual, dependable, kind, and caring. Toby watched my 9 week old puppy twice, and he was very loving and patient. During the time he stayed at my house, he not only watched my puppy for several hours, but also played with him and fed him per my instructions. I highly recommend Toby to take care of any pets. Toby is a spectacular pet sitter and an amazing human being.

About: I have had Pers my whole life, and I am a very well - versed person when it comes to dogs. I constantly watch people’s dogs / walk them when needed. Especially during summertimes. I am good with taking care of older dogs and walking at their pace. I am currently home from school for the summertime, I am taking classes in the meantime but I love to spend time with nature. Dogsitting fits into my schedule because I like to get up early and take care of my priorities and I count animals as one of them I value pets the same way, if not more, to other people. I see pets as another me, and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them because i set such a high value for them. I think pets are one of the best things in our lives, and I wouldn’t want anything to harm that.

Caroline is incredible. I have one fur baby that is easy, and one that is a bit difficult due to medical issues. Our male can be a bit difficult and reactive. We met with Caroline and she listened and heard everything we told er about our babies. She asked a lot of question, which was fantastic. She just spent the past 2 days with our babies. She not only earned their trust, but their love. Caroline spent time with them getting to know them, took them on walks, and was fantastic in our home. We know that are dogs are in good hands with Caroline. We will definitely be having her back.

I have never had someone new watch him before and she said he adjusted well. It was such a relief knowing I could get away and he was in great hands. I will definitely be using her to sit again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Cary

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Cary on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,564 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cary. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cary walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cary maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cary choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cary. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
