“We had our 1 year old dog stay with Melynda for a couple of day visits and then for one week - this was our dog's first time away from home. Our dog had a great time, was well cared for, and she enjoyed playing with the other dogs. We appreciated the updates about our dog. We will be booking with her again the next time!”

“Thank you Elaina and Joseph for allowing me to book with a short notice and for being very flexible with dropoff and pickup times. Communication was excellent, constant updates and pictures, and great care. You'll definitely be my sitter of choice when I'm in the area. Thank you!!”

“Jae and her family were amazing to my sweet puppy. I could not have asked for a better family to take care of my dog; we felt absolutely blessed to have such a perfect home when we were gone. The entire family treated her like she was part of the family, and I always felt comforted on my vacation to receive pictures of my dog enjoying her days with her interim family. I will absolutely only use Jae now. And our dogs have become great friends too, so what an incredible bonus!”

“Milo's stay at Stella's was great! I appreciated her honesty as he has some treat aggression. He was great with her dog Buddy and liked one of the other dogs staying but not the labradoodle. I'm grateful she was able to keep him a little later too, as our flight got back late. She sent pictures regularly and I loved seeing Milo in motion! Thank you for taking such great care of my little pup!”

“Katerina and her family took wonderful care of our dog, Bocce, over labor day weekend. She kept in touch, sent pictures and even a short video clip, and was very accommodating schedule-wise. Bocce looked comfortable and seemed like he felt right at home during his stay. Thanks Katerina!”

“Michele is awesome! She’s very knowledgeable of dogs and dog behavior and I felt 100% confident leaving my fur babies under her care. Michelle gave great updates over the weekend that I cherished and it was clear the dogs were happy and very comfortable. I highly recommend Michele!”

“Paul was fantastic. He took care of Lux, our yellow lab, for six nights and sent us photos everyday. Since we traveled out of the country, he made the effort to e-mail us. They went hiking, to dog parks, and played a lot together. Paul is very lenient and will accommodate your needs to ensure your pet has a safe and happy place to stay while you travel. I will definitely be using his service again next time I travel out of country.”

“Jill is an amazing and professional dog sitter! She picked up my dog right from my house and took wonderful care of him for an extended period of time. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in great hands. I highly recommend Jill to anyone looking for the best dog sitter!”

“Ashley was great! She responded to my request almost immediately, was able to take care of my puppy upon very short notice, and she sent me cute pictures and videos throughout his short stay. I will definitely request Ashley again if we need a sitter.”

“Debbie and Tom are awesome! This is the first time we have left our dog and didn’t worry a bit! You can tell they are both animal lovers! Our dog does best if she gets a walk in for the day and they had perfect setup in neighborhood and were willing to. Even though it’s a 30 min drive we will not hesitate to use Debbie and Tom for our next getaway!! 5 star sitters for sure!!!”

“Hannah is wonderful with dogs. Our dog stayed three days with her and seemed to have a great time. Hannah shared many photos with us during his stay and kept us updated along the way.”

“Melody was fabulous. Can’t say enough great things about her. She sent multiple pics and kept us updated. Our pup was very happy and quite thrilled to stay with her! Would recommend to anyone:)”
“Cinnamon had a great time and I loved that I was constantly getting updates from videos and texts! Made me feel secure that I dropped my puppy off at the right place! So much love and attention they provided to Cinnamon!”

“Angela was very welcoming and caring for our Gizmo! From the moment we arrived her and her husband greeted us with open arms. We were going camping and our schedule was a little off but they made time for us. We received pictures and updates daily and were really pleased. Would highly recommend to anyone using this service for the 1st time. Thanks again!”

“Jean was amazing with my golden. I loved getting pictures and videos daily and knowing that he was having a great time. My big guy has terrible anxiety during storms and is on a high dose of anxiety medication that sometimes works. When a bad storm rolled in Jean was compassionate and loving and notified me about his condition. As a very overprotective dog mom I trust Jean and we will definitely be using her again.”

“Tricia was awesome! Her dogs are so cute & you can tell she really loves animals as this is all she does so her main priority is your babies. We got so many texts while we were away which we thought was amazing. Knowing our babies were happy & doing good made us feel really good about leaving them with her. They loved her & she loved them too & my little Bella was super tired when we got her back and napping all night which was such a relief. We can’t wait to have them stay with her again and I’m sure they’ll be excited too!”

“Finn had the besttttt time!! Kim took amazing care of our boy and kept us sooooo updated! I could just tell he had the most amazing time on their walks!! Thank youu so much again!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cary
Knight loves staying at June's. June is one of Knight's favorite people and as a bonus, Knight also gets to play with Cookie. My husband and I know that Knight was safe and well taken care of. Knight came home relaxed and happy! Booking another boarding request for August :)

Thank you for taking such great care of Parker once again. It’s great to know that we can rely on such a great person to do a great job taking care of our pup. Even with our flight being canceled, you were super flexible and helped to put us at ease during a stressful situation. Thanks Arlene and Family! I
Great experience for Violet while she stayed with Paul and Bella. She either was exhausted of chasing Bella all weekend long in the yard or missed her that match because Violet stayed on the coach sleeping the whole day after coming back home! ❤️ We received messages and pictures during the stay and we really appreciate Paul's engagement and care. We will definitely use Paul's services again!

Jill was super great. She took amazing pictures of the pups and sent them to us as an updatem they were vetter than any pictures that i habe ever taken. She has a nice little yard that is fenced in and she was super understanding and kind about our return travel being delayed causing us to get back to pick up the dogs later than we had originally planned. We would rebook her again in a heartbeat.

Highly recommend Holly for anyone needing a reliable and caring sitter. I felt at ease knowing my dogs was in good hands. My dogs were comfortable with her and her dogs. I have two dogs, the same poodle mix and age as her 2 dogs. She had a house full of cavapoo's and mine came back happy and exhausted from activity. I really appreciate the updates and photos. I’ll definitely be booking again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
