“Their house was very clean and so was their super large back yard. Both their dogs are super friendly and we felt super safe to leave our dog in their house. The best part is they keep sending us pics of him. We would leave him with Mark and Julie again in the future :)”

“Kaylee is the absolute best!! She cares for our puppy weekly but had him for a very long weekend and provided some many great updates and even when our guy was anxious - she was so attentive!!! The best of the best.”

“Michele is awesome! She’s very knowledgeable of dogs and dog behavior and I felt 100% confident leaving my fur babies under her care. Michelle gave great updates over the weekend that I cherished and it was clear the dogs were happy and very comfortable. I highly recommend Michele!”

About: I've taken care of pets ever since I was a kid. When I was in high school, my family hosted dogs of all sizes, including one of my favorites, a Burnese Mountain Dog named Ruby. Lately I've had the chance to watch my brother's two dogs (as seen in my bio pics) when he travels. I work a semi-active full time job over the week, with plenty of energy to spare when I'm not working. I am fully available over the weekends from Friday evening straight through to Sunday! I also am free on weekdays for walks or drop-ins as long as it's before 7:30 am or after 5 pm. Your dog will stay in a cozy, smoke-free condo where they are welcome on the furniture and bed. While I don't have a yard, I love taking long, frequent walks around the neighborhood. For their comfort and safety, I host one family at a time and ask that owners provide the dog's preferred bed or crate if possible

“Michelle was great and went completely out of her way to pick up meds for our dog and administer while we were out on vacation. Always nice knowing your pets are with someone who truly cares for their well-being.”
“Cheryl was amazing! Our pups loved being there and felt welcome. We received picture updates throughout the day. I highly recommend and will use her services in the future. Thanks again Cheryl!”

“Kim took such wonderful care of our Pug. She even put the dog show on TV and Millie loved it. Kim sent photos throughout the week and it let us enjoy our time away knowing she was in a loving home”

“Dartagnan was great at taking care of Axel. When I first met him for a meet and greet, I could tell he was knowledgeable about dogs. One thing I really liked was that he is always quick to address any mischievous behaviors that comes from too much excitement. He also sent me daily photos, which was reassuring. As someone who used to dog sit on Rover, I have high expectations. Dartagnan and his partner have exceeded them. Will definitely book with them again the next time I’m out of town.”

“David and Mary were very communicative throughout Bender’s stay. We were gone for a week and Bender had a difficult time adjusting and got sick. They went the extra mile to care for him by changing his diet and providing him medicine. I appreciate their efforts and for keeping me updated throughout! Would definitely recommend them for future stays!”

“Rosie once again has taken very good care of our little "special needs" doggie, Peanut. My husband and I could tell that Peanut was loved, cuddled, walked, and given much attention- of which we are very grateful for. Rosie is also good at giving Peanut his medicine! We highly recommend her to pet owners in need of a sitter!”

“June C. Did a wonderful job caring for our dog. She sent photos and updates daily and our Fred was well taken care of. He was happy and healthy. I will not hesitate to ask June to watch him again in the future.”

“My dog, Ronin, had a great stay at Maricelas's. Maricela is very prompt on updates and such. She goes out of her way to reassure you that your dog is doing fine. Thank you, Maricela, for taking care of Ronin. Hope to do business again in the future.”

“Shelby loved her stay with Kira. Kira did a great job watching Shelby and kept me informed. Also sent a number of pictures to show Shelby was doing fine. On one of their walks Shelby even got a chance to meet an Elk, which was awesome. Will certainly contact Kira in the future when Shelby we will be going out of town once again.”

“Eric was awesome and super accomdating to us with timing even though our flight was delayed. We couldn't be more grateful for that and also knowing Papaya was in good hands during her stay. Papaya got along really well with Axl and Eric's family. We saw lots of pictures and a tired dog is always a good sign that she had tons of fun!”

“Justine & Brett were so wonderful and patient with Ramen! He is anxious and can take time to warm up, but they went above and beyond to make him comfortable!”

“This was our first time booking with Christine and our two fur dogs loved her! She sent great pictures and updates which is always appreciated! Our dogs came home exhausted which is a good sign!”

“Maximus had a wonderful time with Eileen and her dogs. Eileen updates us with pictures and short notes each day about how Maximus is doing. It gives us peace of mind to know that Maximus is well taken cared of. We are so thankful for Eileen!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
