“Sonia provided us with pics and texts to allow us to keep up with how Misha was handling being left home when we needed to travel out of state. Misha who is housebroken and loves all human contact, didn't accept being left behind and presented Sonia with challenges that we never anticipated, taking out her unhappiness on her. Sonia rose to the challenge questioning us on how to handle her behaviors and ruling out any suspected health issues as causes. Misha was well cared for and I have no reservations recommending Sonia as a dog boarder.”

“Jacqueline and Uriel loved my dog just like she was their own. I really appreciated the photos and videos throughout her time with them! I highly recommend and will visit again!”

“Julie & Mark provided the BEST overnight experience for my dog, Elsie. They really cared for her as if she was their own and sent many cute updates with pictures. They kept her active in their fenced in back yard playing catch and playing with their dog.”

“Cheryl and her husband were so accommodating with our big pup, Titus and were so friendly and welcoming! Sent us pictures with updates and did great with him. Will definitely go to her again in the future.”

“My mini Doxie is definitely anxious and sensitive and I always feel nervous leaving him with someone. Not only was Beans comfortable but I was made to feel confident with all the pictures and videos throughout the stay! Would definitely use Yaqi again!”

“Rabia and her family did an excellent job of taking care of Archie, my golden retriever. They are so caring and loving! Rabia was very accommodating to a last minute change in schedule and very attentive, giving us frequent updates. I would definitely recommend her to anyone that needs reassurance their pet is being well looked after with so much love!”

“Justine and Brett welcomed our dog into their home and treated her with incredible care and attention. Our dog loves kids and to be in the mix of everything and everyone - this was the happiest and most relaxed she’s ever been going or coming back while we’ve been away. Excellent communication at every step - we could really tell that they love to care for dogs! We hope Munro can stay with them again!”

“Kealah was great, Kyro came back sleepy which lets me know he had fun ! She was super flexible and understanding when I needed to extend Kyros time! Will absolutely book again. :)”

“Maria did a great job but what i appreciated was administering my guy's medicine and most of all staying up late to hand off my dog when my flight was badly delayed. Thanks again Maria”

“Anelle was extremely accommodating and easy to work with when it came to boarding our greyhound. He is an elderly dog and made sure he got his meds and was cautious with him due to his arthritic hips. Her communication was so helpful! We would absolutely use her services again because we can tell he was really taken care of. It’s always hard leaving your fur baby with someone else and expect the same amount of love, but with her, we got it! So grateful for her! Would 10/10 recommend!”

“Kaylee is the absolute best!! She cares for our puppy weekly but had him for a very long weekend and provided some many great updates and even when our guy was anxious - she was so attentive!!! The best of the best.”

“Michelle was very accommodating and took excellent care of Sally. She listened to our current schedule for Sally, took her for long walks and let Sally be comfortable in her home. I would highly recommend Michelle to watch your pet.”

“Great dog sitter - She communicated clearly throughout the stay and took wonderful care of my dog. I felt completely at ease knowing she was attentive, reliable, and genuinely caring.”

“OMG! I cannot stress how great Edyta & Hubert were with our dogs. This was really the 1st time we have ever left our dogs with anyone. So we were definitely nervous. She is very welcoming & has great energy. My dogs loved it with her. We were getting consistent updates & pics of our 3 dogs. She was communicative & very caring. She will be the only sitter we have for our dogs going forward.”

“Kent was available at a weeks notice and fast to respond. Immediate rapport with our dog, very attentive and asked questions to make sure he knew exactly what to do in terms of food, medication, etc. Very positive experience, definitely recommended.”

“Leanne is very attentive to know about the need of Ling-Ling, and I felt really comfortable to leave Ling-Ling in her loving home. I'm especially appreciative to know that Leanne and her daughter let Ling-Ling to sleep with them, which is a big plus for Ling-Ling :)”

“We have a very nervous dog and Bonnie takes the best care of him! He loves going to Bonnie's house and is so relaxed when we pick him up. She sends us pictures frequently and we can tell he is so content!!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
