About: As a lifelong animal lover and experienced pet owner, I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care. I have a male Chihuahua-Terrier mix who stays with me part-time and gets along well with other dogs. I am the go-to pet sitter for friends and family, because my goal is to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, indoor or outdoor play sessions, or relaxing with lots of cuddles, I’ll tailor their care to their unique personality and routine. I also have experience taking care of senior dogs and am comfortable administering medication, preparing special diets, and providing extra care and attention. I love having dogs around and would be delighted to welcome your pet into my home. For everyone’s comfort and safety, I ask that dogs be friendly around children, adults, and other dogs. Meet and greets—virtual or in person—are required before booking so we can make sure it’s a great fit for everyone. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family member! I work a flexible hybrid schedule, with three days per week at home and my office is close enough to come home midday on office days for walks and all your pet’s needs. I live in a spacious townhome and do not have a fenced yard, but if your dog enjoys leashed walks and outdoor playtime, I have easy access to open outdoor spaces, parks, and nature trails. In my home, dogs are a part of the family and welcome to make themselves comfortable just as they would in your home. They are welcome to relax on the couch, snooze on the bed, or use their own bed or crate if that’s most comfortable. I want your dog (and you) to feel relaxed and safe until your return.

“We would highly recommend Shalyn and Joe to anyone looking to have their dog looked after. They responded promptly to any concerns we had and we received daily photos and updates on how our Pixie was doing.”

“Sonia provided us with pics and texts to allow us to keep up with how Misha was handling being left home when we needed to travel out of state. Misha who is housebroken and loves all human contact, didn't accept being left behind and presented Sonia with challenges that we never anticipated, taking out her unhappiness on her. Sonia rose to the challenge questioning us on how to handle her behaviors and ruling out any suspected health issues as causes. Misha was well cared for and I have no reservations recommending Sonia as a dog boarder.”

“Jackie and her family took amazing care of our 3 babies during their week-long stay. ❤️ We had lost our previous sitter on Rover and were nervous about leaving them somewhere new, but we needn’t have worried! Jackie sent daily updates & pictures, and it was clear the pups were comfortable, happy, and well cared for. 🥰”

“For the second time, April and her husband we're amazing , the care and support they gave Lisa during my travel for two weeks was above and beyond , April proved her love and care to me by giving me back Lisa clean and healthy, April me and Lisa thank you for everything you did for us.”

“Great hosts and couple! They took Dexter in on such short notice with welcoming Arms. Definitely going to reach out to them in the future when we’re out of town. Thank you so much!”

“Lori and her boys are amazing. My puppy loves staying at their place. She takes such good care of him that I have never had to think twice about leaving him at her place. She sends regular updates and pictures. Lori is also very flexible about drop off and pick up times, which I greatly appreciate. My puppy shows no hestitation in going to their place. That itself is an indicator that they take very good care of him. ”

“This was our second time using June and we couldn't be happier! She takes such wonderful care of our dog—she’s thorough, thoughtful, and always keeps us updated with great photos and messages. It’s clear she loves him and treats him like her own. ❤️ Our dog absolutely adores his hour-long walks with June (which she asked about ahead of time). He always comes home happy and tired! He also loves having Cookie to play with, which is such a fun bonus! We truly wouldn’t trust our pup with anyone else. June is amazing!!”

“Steph was awesome! This was my first experience with Rover and I have a Boykin Spaniel, which is a 16 month old 40lb high energy hunting machine. She excepted the challenge and treated Kola like he was her own. Very pleased with the whole experience and Steph. I took a fly-in fishing to the northern woods of Canada and due to fires and bad weather in the area had to extend my stay for an additional two days up there because the float plane couldn't come get us. Steph rearranged her schedule to accommodate me. I didn't expect her to do that but greatly appreciate her for doing so. I highly recommend Steph, will use her again in the future (that is if she'll let me LOL).”

“Maria was absolutely amazing! From the moment we dropped our dog off, we knew he was in great hands. She took him on long, enjoyable walks and kept us updated with pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. Maria was incredibly responsive and clearly treated our dog with so much love and care. He came home happy, well-exercised, and clearly adored his time with her. We are so grateful and would absolutely trust her again in the future!”

“Giselle did a wonderful job boarding my dog while I was gone for a week! She is very responsive and quick to get back via text. I will definitely have Giselle watch my dog again!”

“We have been taking our dog Bear to Derek for almost 2 years now. Some of our trips have been pretty long and every single time bear has gotten the best care from him and his family. He’s very diligent about keeping in touch and sending pictures, which we love. I can’t say enough about Derek and his family… Your dog would be in perfect loving hands with them if you ever need to be away. Thank you, Derek!”

“Marilyn was absolutely perfect for our dog. She walked her everyday and let her make herself at home. I would absolutely recommend Marilyn and I know we will definitely request her again!”

About: I started dog sittng in college for my professors and quickly grew to love it. I've gained experience walking, feeding, and caring for dogs, and I bring these skills to my own pets as well. I'm excited to provide the same care and attention to your dog while you're away. I work from home, so my schedule is flexible and I can accomodate your need. I also offer pickup and drop-off services for a small fee. I have a fenced yard providing a secured space for your dog to play and relax. I also have a senior male Australian Shedperd who loves to play with other dogs, so your pet will have a friendly companion during the stay.
“Katie and her family kept Tank warm and happy during the crazy cold weather while we were on vacation! He walks in like he owns the place which means we don't worry about him a bit. Appreciate your excellent care.”

“Jessica was very responsive and took care of my dog well. My dog was happy and played a lot when he was boarded at Jessica’s. Thank you Jessica for accommodating our last minute request.”

Carrie and her family were absolutely amazing! They were able to help us out with our 3.5 month old puppy last minute. Throughout his stay she sent pictures and updates so we could be at ease knowing our little fur baby was having the time of his life. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
