“I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have met Maggie and to have her watch my cat Marley. This trip was my first time away from Marley in 2 years and he had a crazy feeding schedule that had me up several times on the overnight. Maggie took her time getting to know Marley, worked to get the auto-feeder up and running and gave me daily updates on his new feeding schedule. Before I left Marley wouldn’t drink any water so I relied on wet food and Churu. Maggie got him drinking water from a bowl!! Last night was my first night home and I was able to sleep through the night. She sent pictures and videos and I was able to really relax while away knowing Marley was in the best possible hands and that is priceless. Maggie is professional, patient, and caring with a great sense of humor. Marley was completely himself with her. Maggie is the best and Marley and I feel blessed to have her!!”

“Rose took FANTASTIC care of both our dogs and house. Thanks Rose. Not sure they were happy to see us come home! She sent us photos each day we were away, and our house looked better when we got home then when we departed :-) Will definitely be reaching out to Rose for her care again”

“Emily was fantastic! She was super communicative, dependable and responsive. She watched my two dogs and two cats -- and they all adored her. I felt great leaving her in charge of everybody and will definitely hire her again when I need a petsitter.”

“Lee is the best! He stayed with and cared for our two labradors for a week while we went to Florida. Our girls love him and thoroughly enjoyed their time with Lee. He also kept the house spotless and made sure it was clean for us upon our return. I think the dogs appreciated his musical talents too while we were away. I would highly recommend Lee to anyone in need of a sitter, dog walker, or house stay with their pets. They would be well-loved and cared for with Lee!”

“Shelby was excellent with our dog. She asked plenty of questions to make sure she took the best care of Bella, sent us plenty of updates, and made sure Bella was comfortable at all times. We came home to a very happy pup. Would definitely recommend Shelby.”

“Marielle is wonderful, responsive, easy to work with, and responsible. She had my pup for a full day, picking her up and dropping her off, she sent photos and communicated thru the day to ease my fears of being far away.”

“I can't say enough great things about Katherine — we've booked her several times to stay with our girl, Penelope. Most recently, she watched both the house and Penelope while we were away for the holiday break. The entire week we felt totally at ease having Katherine there, and really appreciated her thoughtful and thorough communication.. not to mention Penelope seems to really love having her around, too. We'll happily continue to hire Katherine, can't recommend her enough.”

“Katrina and her boyfriend, Ken, were very communicative, kind, and genuinely loved animals. Our dog, Jack, is a nervous boy, but they did the best they could in calming his nerves, and putting in the effort to gain his trust. I highly recommend!”

About: I excel at making dogs feel calm and like their owners never even left the house. Learning their schedules, quirks, and favorite walking spots helps me make them feel comfortable for extended stays. Energetic puppy? I’ll run around w them and tire them out. Senior dog? We can relax and go at their pace. What sets me apart is my intuition and caring heart. I have a flexible, remote job so I am able to stay with your pet as long as needed through the day and take them on frequent walks in the neighborhood good or to the dog park! I do live-in dogsitting/housesitting at the client’s house. I like to learn about your dog (how they like to play, chill, etc..) so I can make them feel as comfortable as possible.
“Liz was truly fantastic. This was our first night out without our puppy and she fully put our minds at ease and was super patient with our detailed instructions for our mouthy girl. Excited to have her sit again.”

About: Hi! My name is Fiona and I’m a lifelong lover of dogs and all animals. I grew up always having 2 to 3 dogs. I was responsible for walking, feeding, grooming, and playing with them. I have experience watching and walking friend’s dogs when needed. I believe each dog deserves special love and attention. I am currently a teacher, so I spend Monday to Friday at work during the day. If the dog is local to Catskill, I’m more than happy to check up on them! Otherwise it’s important to know I’ll be out for some of the day, except for breaks. I’m available for weekend walking and drop-in’s any time! Each pet has their own personality, boundaries, and routine. I want to make sure the pets are comfortable with me so that I can care for them properly.
“Karla is a gentle and kind animal whisperer. Our pup was immediately calmed by her energy. From his daily med routine, to even feeding him by hand when he put up a “my humans are traveling fight” she cared for him with grace and love. AND we got daily pics.”

“Arsen and Sophia did a great job. They communicated well, sent funny pics and we returned to a calm dog who clearly liked them and was sad to see them leave. House was clean. Would hire them again anytime.”

“Cassie is wonderful! She was incredibly responsive and communicative while sitting my dog. I loved how she sent me multiple photos as requested and felt like my dog was in great hands.”

About: I have two dachshund of my own! I’ve been hosting for 2 years and would love to continue to do so. Can’t wait to meet your pups! I treat my pets as a part of myself. I make sure they are accommodated. My days aren’t hectic so morning and afternoon+ night routine is established. I have a fenced yard. There’s lots of grass and space for them to run around. So freedom won’t be a problem. I make sure to keep my space free from food and anything chewable.
“Elanor took great care of Dax! She has a great dog park and took him on a few walks, and sent photos throughout the visit reassuring me he was doing great. Will definitely book again so Dax can spend time with his new abuela!”

“Jennifer was the best! We had a last-minute cancellation and she was a lifesaver for us: she even came by the same day to meet our pup in advance. She took really great care of our girl and was very communicative. Definitely recommend!”

Victoria was super helpful during my wedding two weeks ago! She babysat both my dog and my bridesmaids dog at our hotel, sent us updates, and kept both of our pups safe and comfortable during the event. Victoria’s calm, nurturing energy was exactly what my dog needed that day (he has separation anxiety). I’m so grateful for Victoria’s help and would definitely recommend her!! We can’t thank you enough, Victoria!!

Marielle is just wonderful and we always feel great leaving our dog, Jack, in our house for Marielle to take care of him. She is always caring and keeps us abreast of each and everyday that she is here. We always rebook Marielle because of her outstanding expertise each and every time.
Ceilia was fantastic with Whiskey and went beyond her duties during my absence! Whiskey looked very happy on every pic and will miss her. She stayed at my house and was very respectful of my home. I will definitely rebook her in the future and can’t recommend her enough! Thank you Ceilia for taking such good care of my boy!
Kacey was awesome watching our in laws dog at our wedding weekend. She was kind, courteous, on time, pleasant, and blended right in with everyone else. She knew when to take Teddy on walks and when to just chill with him. She really helped make a chaotic weekend a little more calm. Thanks so much!

Macy is very responsible, kind, and sweet. Our pup Peach absolutely loves her. Macy kept us in the loop with adorable pictures and clear updates. She’s a wonderful communicator and very trustworthy. She even left our home better than she found it. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

It was our first time working with Ady and she was great to work with! She was flexible with our plans, communicated well, and took excellent care of our little pup! You can tell how much she loves dogs and we felt great leaving our 6 year old chihuahua in her care. We already have another pet sit booked!

Kira is *fantastic*! Super communicative and friendly, and she took amazing care of our pets and house while we were away. During our trip, we were thrilled to get photos of our very shy cat hanging out with Kira (a rare occurrence for a petsitter), and our very social, attention-loving dog was in great spirits when we got home. We couldn't believe the fresh and clean house we returned home to! We loved having Kira, and will enthusiastically invite her back!

We had such a great experience with Daniela! They were incredibly communicative, sending us lots of photo updates that gave us peace of mind while we were away. Cricket loved spending time with them and was clearly well cared for. Daniela went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. We would happily book with Daniela again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kingston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kingston. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
