“Rose took FANTASTIC care of both our dogs and house. Thanks Rose. Not sure they were happy to see us come home! She sent us photos each day we were away, and our house looked better when we got home then when we departed :-) Will definitely be reaching out to Rose for her care again”

“We had never used any pet sitting service before and felt very nervous about leaving our dog. From the very first meeting, Laianna put our minds at ease and made us feel very comfortable. She made sure to ask us all about Gracie and we could see that she connected with Gracie right away. Gracie has so much energy and demands a lot of attention but from all the pictures and videos Laianna sent, it was obvious she was well taken care of! Laianna is very reliable, trustworthy and great with animals. We will definitely use her again for any future travel plans.”

“This was our first pet sit with Emily and it went great! She is super communicative and sent us tons of pictures and updates of our little guy. Will definitely work with her again!”

“Regan did a wonderful job caring for my dog Daisy and my cat Eleanor. She did house sitting for the entire week if not longer while I was out of town. She maintained great communication and also was very perceptive about what the animals needed. Thank you, Regan. I look forward to working with you again”

“Ja was such a great house and pet sitter! I have a very lazy dog, and a very high energy dog who can be reactive on a leash. Ja did a great job taking care of them! They were happy when we got home. Also she left our place in pristine shape. I can’t wait to use her again!”
“Liz was truly fantastic. This was our first night out without our puppy and she fully put our minds at ease and was super patient with our detailed instructions for our mouthy girl. Excited to have her sit again.”

About: I have done lots of pet sitting in my lifetime. I have mostly worked with cats and dogs but I also have taken care of rabbits, Guinea pigs, and even alpacas! I love all animals and would love to help out in any way I can! I do also have a small Boston terrier who is special needs. She is extremely loving and friendly. I am currently free 24/7 365 days! I am available for any and all pet needs! I am able to provide walks and stay at any home needed! I have a nice single bedroom apartment! The rail trail is close to me so I can walk them along that for nice outside exercise. There is lots of love to be shared!
“Devin was a great sitter, she took him to the dog park and walk's. She’s very easy to communicate with. I arrived home to a happy and healthy pup. I would definitely recommend her.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all breeds since childhood, ranging from energetic puppies to senior dogs needing extra care. I’m a trained dog handler with the Ulster County SPCA and regularly provide dog sitting, walking and drop-in services. Whether your dog wants quiet peaceful snugs, or enthusiastic playtime and hikes… I’m your lady! Clients often tell me their dogs have even better times on vacation than they do! 🩷🐾 I care for each pup like it’s my own. Happy to provide references ups on request! I have a flexible, hybrid work schedule that allows me to accommodate walls, drop-ins, and overnight care throughout the week and on weekends (and even a few work from home days for more time with your pup!). I’m able to provide consistent attention, timely visits, and plenty of engagement, whether your dog needs a quick walk, regular check-ins or more extended care. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, personality and needs, and I follow all instructions closely. In your home, I aim to keep your dog’s environment familiar and stress-free. For boarding, I offer a calm, quiet, child/pet-ffee space where your dog will receive attentive, individualized care and supervision (and lots of walks or hikes, if you like!).
About: I've been surrounded by and taken care of animals my entire life, and I want to be your new trustworthy pet sitter or dog walker! I have a standard poodle named Remy and maine coon cat named Bash at home, and they are my everything. I've fostered kittens (as young as 2.5 weeks old) for six years now and have been a petsitter for longer. I'm great with people and even better with cats and dogs. I want to keep your pets safe and happy, and you worry-free! I can administer medicine, trim nails, walk any size dog, clean, monitor urine and stool output, keep track of mood and general signs for concern, and I love sending cute update pictures so you know your pets are thriving! I'm currently in my last clinical to get my master's in occupational therapy, and I'm working at a hospital 5 days a week. I can pet-sit before, after, overnight, or just walk your pets or check in if needed! I'm great at following directions and problem-solving, and I'll do whatever I can to make sure you're comfortable with me entering your home to care for your pets. I understand different types of collars, leashes, and equipment needed to guarantee a pet's safety. I am very aware of my surroundings and good at reading a pet's energy and potential reactivity. I've had animals my entire life, so closing the door quickly and not letting pets out is second nature to me. I know your pets are your family, and I will treat them as such!
“Katherine was a lifesaver for our family. We had a last-minute trip and she did a wonderful job taking care of our 3 dogs, one of which tends to be a little skittish and shy. We received lots of photos and updates and she was respectful of the space. Highly recommend.”

“Grettel has been amazing!! Scout is a very nervous and anxious dog and as soon as Grettel and Scout met I knew that Scout was going to be comfortable with Grettel! It only took him about 10 minutes to relax, which is huge for Scout!! She is also very thorough, which puts us at ease. She also provides video and pics of him while we are away! :) ”
“Lexi watched my three pets, including an older special needs cat. Her communication was wonderful - great question, photos and updates, and just a cheerful confidence that helped me feel very comfortable leaving them in her care. They and the house were in great shape when I returned and I could tell the cats and dog were well cared for. Thank you so much!”

“Ady was amazing! She took such good care of our puppy Darwin. She genuinely cared about him. She also kept the house very clean and was very communicative the entire week. I would highly recommend Ady.”

“Carolyn was great. She arrived early, was greeted by Bodhi and after a little playing he jumped in her car and off they went for a walk on the rail trail. He really enjoyed the exercise and I’m sure he’ll be glad to see her again.”

“Chana did an excellent job taking care of my three dogs! She stayed in contact to let us know how things were going and provided us the reassurance that our dogs were in good hands! Thanks Chana! As this experience made our vacation that much better….”

“Jennifer was the best! We had a last-minute cancellation and she was a lifesaver for us: she even came by the same day to meet our pup in advance. She took really great care of our girl and was very communicative. Definitely recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bloomington
Lee is the best! He stayed with and cared for our two labradors for a week while we went to Florida. Our girls love him and thoroughly enjoyed their time with Lee. He also kept the house spotless and made sure it was clean for us upon our return. I think the dogs appreciated his musical talents too while we were away. I would highly recommend Lee to anyone in need of a sitter, dog walker, or house stay with their pets. They would be well-loved and cared for with Lee!

FAQs for House Sitting - Bloomington
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 512 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bloomington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bloomington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bloomington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bloomington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bloomington. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
