“Shana was our first experience with Rover and it was great place to start. Shana communicated well leading up to the stay and even visited twice to get the lay of the land. During the stay, Shana haves updates, sent pics, and asked questions when necessary. When our usual sitter took over the second portion of our trip, they reported that the house was in good order. Thanks!!”

“Absolutely wonderful! Very friendly and communicative. Our girls were super relaxed and happy when we got home to a very clean house. 10/10 would book again. Thank you for all of the pics and updates on our girls over the course of your stay.”

“Really grateful to’ve found such a great sitter! Super communicative and of course most importantly, great with our dogs. Felt safe leaving them and our home in her care.”

About: I’ve had animals since I was a child. A horse when I was 10 dogs, cats and still have dogs, cats and a horse in my life as of now have no problems with ministering medication to any animal. I am retired. Looking for a hobby that I love. I am available all times of the day seven days a week. It may be so. I have five small dogs of my own with a backyard fenced in and a doggie door for them to go in and out as they please.
“Kasey was great with our bird and dog. They liked her right away and she took good care of them and our house while we were away. We appreciated her communications and photo updates and also her attention to details around the house. A snow storm was coming and she was kind enough to put our windshield wipers up. Very thoughtful.”

“Rose was so fantastic with my two rescue pups. I have one particularly shy pup, and Rose was patient and gentle while she warmed up. By the end of the stay, both pups were very comfortable with Rose and looking forward to her next sit!”

“Michele was fabulous!! Jasper was in great hands! She sent plenty of photos and I appreciated this! She also drove Jasper to his doggie daycare, Central Bark! This kept Jasper occupied and offered Michele a break! Although I know she would have kept him busy at home too.”

“Melanie is an absolute ace. She stayed with my dog Baxter and my cat Stella for five days while I was away, and I could not have asked for better care. It was obvious from the moment I got home that my animals were loved, engaged, and truly cared for, not just “watched.” Baxter was excited to see me for about five minutes… and then ran to the window looking for Melanie. He even ran straight to my truck outside, which he has never cared about, clearly expecting her to step out. That says everything. Melanie spent real time with them, kept my home clean and tidy, and even washed all of the containers I use for homemade dog and cat food, which was completely above and beyond. I came home to calm, happy animals and a house that felt respected and cared for. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and genuinely invested in your pets’ well-being, stop scrolling and book Melanie. I would hire her again in a heartbeat and feel lucky to have found her.”

“Stephanie was great and sent me tons of pictures of our animals. She was really loving and kind towards them all and made sure to give me lots of updates and gave them tons of snuggles and cuddles. Everyone was super happy with her.”

“Sarah was fantastic and we highly recommend her to anyone! She did a great job caring for our fickle pugs. She kept us updated with pictures and messages about how the dogs were doing. We felt totally comfortable leaving them in her care. Having Sarah stay with our pugs gave us peace of mind to enjoy our vacation.”

“Patricia was amazing. Our newly adopted doghas separation anxiety and continued to give her a run for her money the whole first part of the second day. She was patient with Lucy and in the end we were so happy to be able to complete our vacation without worries. We will definitely have her back”

“James did an amazing job of taking care of our sweet dog. This was the first time we have left our dog with a sitter, but James helped make us feel very comfortable. She was great at communicating with us and sent many pictures that put us at ease. Our dog had a great time with her and she left our house very tidy. We have already booked with her for two additional pet sittings!”

“Abbey was fantastic. It was clear how much she loved Booch and how happy he was with her. She gave me frequent updates with pictures and videos that were so appreciated. The house was left in great shape. We have had 4 other house sitters and none have even come close to Abbey! I’m grateful to have found her and now we can go away with much more peace of mind.”

“We had a wonderful experience with our pet sitter Margaret! She took excellent care of my dog, Otto, and made sure he was happy, comfortable, and well-loved while I was traveling. I really appreciated the regular updates with pictures and great communication—it gave me so much peace of mind. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, responsible, kind and caring pet sitter!”

Fantastic Jill! They were reliable, caring, and kept me updated with photos and messages while I was away. My cats were happy, well cared for, and comfortable when I returned home. I highly recommend their services and would gladly book with them again. Thank you.

Sophia is an awesome pet sitter! I have a very high energy, high drive working dog, and Sophia did a lovely job caring for her, keeping my dog happy, enriched, and safe. My dog also gets quite a robust regimen of supplements and medications, all which were administered with care. I highly recommend Sophia and will absolutely call her again the next time I need a sitter.

Aliza came to our hotel for two consecutive evenings to look after our Delilah and was absolutely wonderful with her. They instantly bonded and Delilah felt calm, secure, and cared for. They took walks together and Aliza sent us updates and photos. We were grateful for Aliza’s visits and look forward to working with her again. Aliza is a warm and delightful person. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful first experience with Amruta caring for our two Havanese in our home. From the start, communication was excellent, and she immediately put us at ease. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly loved the attention. It was such a comfort knowing they were in good hands. We wouldn’t hesitate to have her back again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
