“I had a great experience with Maria. It’s evident that she and her family truly love animals based on how well they cared for my cat, Pumpkin. Maria also responds quickly and happily sent photos showing Pumpkin as happy and healthy, which I really appreciate. 10/10 I will be booking again! Thanks Maria!”

“Thayla took care of our dog Foxy, while we were away on a 2 week trip. My family and I felt so comfortable leaving her with Thayla, because she is an extremely nice dog loving person who treated our dog like her own. She took our dog on 3 walks everyday, sent us pictures and updates everyday about the fun things they were doing. Will definitely leave Foxy with Thayla and her dogs next time we are going away again. Thank you ❤️ Camilla and Foxy”

“Csaba & Nicole are the absolute best! We are always anxious leaving our 2 dogs behind when we go out of town, but leaving them at Csaba & Nicole's house always provides us with a peace of mind because of how caring they are towards our pups. They always send tons of updates through photos and videos and make sure they stay in communication with us throughout the entire stay. We are repeat customers and will continue to book with them!🐾❤️”

“Sophia is so lovely and gentle. I felt very confident that she would be a sweet caretaker for Fiona. She sent me photos and responded quickly. She was very upfront when we met about other things she would be doing while Fiona was there and I really appreciated her doing so. We were able to talk about Fiona’s needs and quirks and how best to address them for everyone’s benefit. Would definitely use her again when she’s in town!”

“Cherissa and Ricardo were great with my 4yr old pup. They took very good care of him and sent pictures of him and let me know he was doing great. I would recommend them to anyone to watch their dog! Great job thank you!”

“Megen was great, our dog came back very happy! Megen's pets were great play friends and she communicated well while we were away. Megen was also very flexible with drop off and pick up which we really appreciated.”

“This was our second time using Caroline as our dog sitter, always a great experience! She’s very communicative, sent us updates, and took such great care of our puppy while we were away for two nights. We plan to book with Caroline again and highly recommend her!”

“Janice takes wonderful care of our labradoodle Gus! He loves to stay with her, and gets so excited when we arrive. Janice always provides updates and shares photos of Gus so we can see how he's doing when we're out of town. We love knowing he's safe and comfortable when we have to travel.”

About: I was raised in a positive pet friendly family environment and had my own dogs and cats for more than twenty years. I can handle large, medium, and small dogs and will look to give them long walks and lots of exercise as a good dog is a tired dog. I work full-time but have plenty of free time during the week and on weekends to feed, walk, play fetch, or just hang out with your dog. I am happy to come to your home and walk your dog and or play at a local dog park, I am familiar with dogs from Yorkshire Terriers and Kings Charles Spaniels to Rottweilers and German Shepards.
“Stephanie was absolutely wonderful with our older dog- she'd been having issues with her hips and going up and down stairs- Stephanie was great with administering her daily medications and helping her get around. Stephanie kept in touch while we were away and provided updates and pictures. We will definitely be calling Stephanie next time we go away and can't bring our Shea!”

“Cipriana is such a god send for us and we feel so lucky to have found her! We recently went away and left our somewhat neurotic, but sweet Chiweenie, Nova, in her care. Not only did she give us daily updates on how she was adjusting, she even sent pictures that were really appreciated. We plan on using Cipriana all the time when we need someone to watch Nova because we feel we can totally trust the care and safety she gave our sweet pooch.”

“Rebecca did a fantastic job taking care of my 12 year old dog! She was very responsive, sent pictures of how she was doing and made her part of the family. Would highly recommend her to others. We will be using her services again!”
“Brittany was wonderful with Cody. He is not used to be separated from us so we knew that he would be a challenge. I am happy with the treatment that Cody received and if the occasion occurs we will book with Brittany again.”

About: I have spent my entire life surrounded by animals of all kind and have always had the love and drive to ensure they have the best life and experiences possible. This love and compassion has led me to volunteering at the SPCA for a number of months, which turned into working there for over 4 years as both an animal care attendant and as a veterinary assistant. In my time there, I have been given the most incredible opportunity to both care for and rehouse hundreds of animals and have even acquired a couple of cats along the way. I am currently in the process of opening my own dog daycare to provide a very loving, caring environment for the dogs to spend their day while their pet parents are away.
“Cory was a great host for Henny. Her dogs were friendly and she was super communicative! She sent lots of photos and videos which helped soothe my pet parent anxiety. Would definitely book with her again”

“Mario was absolutely wonderful. Kind, friendly, and such genuine care for my dog. It was so reassuring to receive pictures of my pup every day and seeing how happy he was. I would definitely recommend Mario and will most certainly request his services again!”

Marika was amazing! Feel very fortunate to have gotten her on short notice. My Viszla mix Susie loved her immediately. Marika took her on lots of walks (with tick check afterwards), sent updates, and her house/backyard space were perfect for an active breed. She went above and beyond when it came to making sure Susie was stimulated, making up little games for her to play with the squirrels and rabbits. Anytime I'm in the area I'll definitely be looking to book with Marika.

We felt like we hit the jackpot finding Victoria at the last minute (literally one hour) before a trip! Despite the quick turnaround from booking to dropping off our dog, she made us feel completely comfortable and I felt certain our pup was safe the entire time. She sent thoughtful updates and I could tell she was really truly caring for my dog. She was patient and gracious when we had some last minute logistical changes as well. Will definitely book her again!

Amanda and her husband took wonderful care of Jack. I received daily updates and pictures which helped ease my anxiety about leaving him for a few days. He was so spoiled! You can tell they are dog lovers and treated him like he was theirs. I will be using them in the future and have already booked Jacks next stay without hesitation.

We had a wonderful experience with Marielle. From our initial get‑to‑know‑you video call, it was clear how thoughtful, organized, and easy to work with she is. Throughout Journey’s stay, Marielle was consistently responsive and sent daily photos and updates, which gave us peace of mind. She is responsible, caring, and attentive, everything you hope for in someone watching your dog. We always felt that Journey was safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for while in her home. We would happily book with Marielle again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable sitter.

Chastity cared for our two French bulldogs for 10+ days while we were away on vacation. She was extremely warm and welcoming to the dogs and did a great job keeping us up to date with daily photos. We were particularly grateful for her flexibility when our flight home was cancelled. She happily kept them for two extra nights and was extremely understanding. It's clear they were well taken care of and happy in our absence.

MeiMei, my puppy, is always excited when she sees Christopher--and this is a good sign: the care and attention he provides her is excellent and she is not only excited to see him, feels safe as well. Another thing I've observed is that Christopher very subtly reinforces all the training I've put into MeiMei. When I arrive, no matter how excited she is that I'm back, Christopher maintains control ofd her leash, keeping her from running to greet me and is also working on assuring that she does not leave her feet for greetings. again, seemingly small, very incredibly important. On my teaching days, the thing I have absolute zero concern about is MeiMei's wellbeing--and that is invaluable. Thank you so much Christopher! You're amazing!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
