“Cristian took care of my two dogs for a stay of 8 days. He kept us updated with pictures each day and it looked like they had a lovely time and were well cared for. Drop off and pickup were also very easy”

“Mario was so great to work with. He was thoughtful, kind, sent lots of cute updates, and most importantly he treated Eiger like a part of his family! I felt super confident leaving Eiger with him for the weekend. Thanks Mario!”

“Nicole was fantastic. This was the first time I ever left my dog with anyone other than family. She consistently provided updates and pictures. My dog was well cared for.”

“This was our second time using Caroline as our dog sitter, always a great experience! She’s very communicative, sent us updates, and took such great care of our puppy while we were away for two nights. We plan to book with Caroline again and highly recommend her!”

“David was THE BEST!! I left my dog in David's care for two weeks and I never had a single moment of worry or doubt. He was a thoughtful, dedicated sitter who went above and beyond. My dog Charlie has trauma/aggression issues that make it hard for me to feel safe leaving him with a sitter, but David was extremely attentive and extremely careful. And when my dog got finicky with anxiety and didn't want to touch his meals, David went the extra mile with treats and enticements to keep him eating regularly. Charlie was in the best hands around. Highly recommended!!”

“I was in town for a work trip, but my dog didn’t have someone to watch him. Rosalie is a very sweet person and made my dog feel right at home. It was a nice day out, so he got to spend a lot of time outside exploring her yard! Thank you Rosalie!”

About: I was raised in a positive pet friendly family environment and had my own dogs and cats for more than twenty years. I can handle large, medium, and small dogs and will look to give them long walks and lots of exercise as a good dog is a tired dog. I work full-time but have plenty of free time during the week and on weekends to feed, walk, play fetch, or just hang out with your dog. I am happy to come to your home and walk your dog and or play at a local dog park, I am familiar with dogs from Yorkshire Terriers and Kings Charles Spaniels to Rottweilers and German Shepards.
“Dawn is excellent! I highly recommend for anyone to trust your pet with her. My pup has separation anxiety and we have never left him with anyone or boarded him because of his anxiety. The first day we met Dawn our puppy didn’t want to come home! He felt comfortable with her and her Maestro. We left him with her for 1 day and he came home so tired he rested the rest of the night and entire next day, and for our guy that is unheard of, he’s very high energy! Then we left him with her for 3 nights and he had a blast! She sent updates with videos and pics which was very nice as we missed him so much for it being the first time we’ve left him. It is such a relief to have found an excellent dog sitter. It’s also nice for our guy to get the socialization with other dogs because he doesn’t get that as much as we would like at home. We will be booking with Dawn whenever we need a sitter.”

“Lola seemed happy and comfortable when I dropped off and picked her up from Angel. She has a great space for dogs and I appreciated that she took all my crazy dog mom requests into account. Would highly recommend her!”

“I am super new to Rover, Andrea helped every step of the way. I am very grateful for how kind and thoughtful she was. She was very good with Thor and he seemed like he had a nice time. Thank you so much would trust her again.”

“I highly recommend Amanda! This was my first time using Rover as well as my 5 year old dog's first time staying with anyone other than family. Amanda was great with communication from the beginning and reassuring throughout the whole process from initial contact to setting up a meet and greet to regular updates while we were away. My dog took to her right away and felt very comfortable with her throughout her stay as seen by cuddling pictures and happy outdoor time. I feel so fortunate to have found a reliable and trustworthy sitter.”

“Janice is such a warm and loving person. My dog took to her immediately and it was clear she is an animal person. She prioritizes making sure that your pet feels safe and comfortable. It is such a relief to have someone like her taking care of my girl when I have to be away.”

“Maryline was excellent. She really treated Ariel as one of her own. Ariel fell in love with her and her family and felt like home. She kept us continually updated with photos twice a day. I would definitely use her again. I would highly recommend her.”
“Daniela took exceptional care of my fur-baby, keeping me up to date with beautiful pictures and messages. I recommend her 100% 😀 Thank you Daniela, you are the pet sitter I always needed.”

“100/100. We used Victoria for YEARS and she was the best sitter we ever had. She once watched my dogs over Christmas, she bought toys AND wrapped them - using her own money. I can't speak highly enough. We recently moved and the worst is not being close to her anymore, but we will definitely use her if we ever fly out of JFK or LGA. My dogs loved her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New Paltz
Emily is amazing! I live in LA but was visiting my mom in Woodstock and needed a dog sitter last minute for my little senior dog, Rihanna. Emily graciously took her for a house sit in her home for a long weekend. Emily was thorough and asked about Rihanna’s routine, taking care to follow it well. I can tell that Emily has extensive experience with pets and a special love for them. Rihanna required both liquid and pill medicines that Emily took care to give her 2x a day. Emily also sent photo updates in the app and kept me informed about how Rihanna was doing. Rihanna seemed extremely happy with Emily, and I can tell that she got lots of love. She can be anxious when traveling, but Emily’s calm presence was great for her. I would 100% select Emily again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
