Grace and Julia were great! Both of my pets are older and on medications. I had total trust that Grace and Julia could handle their needs which gave me the comfort I was looking for. They were available when I needed them and even came to do a meet and greet! I will be using them again for sure!

I had an excellent experience with Thomas-James C. He demonstrated great patience and professionalism throughout the process. His communication was outstanding — he consistently provided updates, photos, and detailed feedback after each walk. Despite some initial challenges during the first walk, he remained composed and committed to ensuring my dog’s comfort and safety. My dog responded very well to him, and I was impressed by his dedication and reliability. I would highly recommend his services and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Kim is truly one of the best! She was so consistent and reliable giving Dexter a long walk and often took him to new places to explore. She gave him great exercise and also let him play and I know she loved him as much as he loved her. I cannot recommend someone enough!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life! Recently started boarding and at home visits within the past two years and I love it! I’ve worked with puppies-elderly dogs, helped train from bite work to bathroom breaks. I try to do it and love it all! I am a teacher and I have summer home free with my daughter. We don’t have any pets of our own and love to love the pets you love! I like to follow the requests of the client, wherever, however, and whenever i’m needed! I have a fenced in yard and no other pets.

About: I have taken care of all dogs and cats for years. In 2025 I gained my training and worked as a Kennel Technician at the HoundsTown franchise. On the side, whether its neighbors who go away for extended vacations, or dog walking within apartment buildings in New York and Central Park, this has always been a job in my life. This included grooming, feeding, administering medication, playing & exploring, keeping them company, training them around other dogs, and many other tasks. I love being outside and taking care of such sweet animals, I would love to care for your critter! I work in Social Work locally. I only work 28 hours a week as of right now and work mostly from home. I am available. In my own home I only have one cat. She has constant food, water, and attention. She loves to play and cuddle. Your pet will receive the same exact treatment as all animals are special to me.

About: Hi! I’m a stay at home mom who absolutely loves animals and being home makes me the perfect person to give your pup lots of attention throughout the day 🤍 I’ve been caring for pets for over 10 years and grew up with my Yorkie, Asia, who lived to 13. Being a dog mom taught me how important it is to know your fur baby is in safe, loving hands. I’m patient, attentive, and experienced with both puppies and senior dogs, including giving oral medication if needed. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or cuddles, I make sure every pup feels comfortable and cared for. My home is cozy with a backyard for safe play, and I have a sweet cat named Woody. I treat every pet like family and always try to stick to their routine so they feel right at home. I’d love to set up a meet & greet beforehand so you can feel confident your pup is happy, safe, and loved 💓 I’m a full time stay at home mom to two precious little girls! and with that your pup will always have company! I balance caring for my little one with walks, playtime, and snuggles for your dog, making sure every pet gets attention and love throughout the day. My kids also have a love for animals as well and are taught how to interact with different animals! My home is cozy and safe, with a dedicated area for your pup to relax and feel at home where I'll have anything your pup needs (You're welcome to provide anything that makes them comfortable as well). I also have a backyard where they can run, play, and get their zoomies out safely. Your fur baby will have a space that’s loving, fun, and stress-free.

About: Hi there! I’m Jacob, and I’ve been passionate about dogs my whole life. Growing up, I was the go-to person for taking care of friends and family’s dogs, whether it was walking, feeding, playing, or just giving them the love and attention they deserve. Now, as a recent college graduate with a degree in Film Production from New Paltz, I’m back on Long Island and looking to combine my love for dogs with the opportunity to make some extra income. I understand that every dog has its own unique personality and needs, and I’m dedicated to making sure they feel comfortable and safe while in my care. Whether your pup enjoys long walks, cozy cuddles, or a little playtime, I’m ready to make their experience as enjoyable as possible. I also pride myself on being reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented—traits that I honed during my time managing creative projects in film production. If you’re looking for someone who treats your dog like family, I’d love to help out. Let’s make sure your dog has the best experience when you're away! I currently work part-time, but I pride myself on having a flexible schedule that can easily accommodate you and your pet's needs. With enough notice, I’m happy to adjust my availability to ensure that your dog receives the attention, care, and love they deserve, whether it’s a daily walk, overnight care, or just some extra playtime. I’m here to make sure your pup feels at ease, no matter what your schedule looks like! Safety, trust, and comfort are my top priorities. I’m a big believer in the outdoors, so I love taking dogs for walks and letting them run off some energy in safe, controlled spaces. When caring for your dog at your home, I respect your space and routines while ensuring they feel comfortable and secure. I’m committed to your pet’s safety and well-being, and I treat them like family.

About: Hello, I’ve been taking care of pets since I was 11 years old. From dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, you name it! I’ve trained many puppies and love everyone’s furry friends. Fun Fact my dog at home is scared of thunder, so I always sit in the bathtub with him until he’s ready to come out (photo included) I’ve also babysat and house sat for many years :) I have maximum 2 one hour classes a day with a 3 hour gap in between! So there will be plenty of time for me to take care of your furry friends!!! I live in a single room on campus with loads of space and two beds if the pets want to have a comfy space. When I have to leave for a class I play zen pet music to help calm them down if I have to leave!

About: I want your pet to be both comfortable and happy! I'm not here to just let them out and leave- I will make sure they get the proper care and attention they need while you're away. Due to an injury affecting my farming career, I am now available any time other than Wednesdays from 12:30-3:30. Other than that, I am wide open for both drop-in and overnight stays! While I currently cannot pet-sit at my own home, I am willing to travel wherever to meet yours. I am open to any environment and am willing to listen or read as much as possible when it comes to your pet's habits, needs, rules, etc. Understanding your pet's needs is the key to a safe and trusting enviornment!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - New Paltz

Handing over your house keys and your pets to someone you’ve never met before for a last-minute holiday trip is either an act of trust… or temporary insanity. Thankfully, it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. Shana was incredibly communicative, kept us updated with tons of photos, and it honestly felt like our dog and cat were on vacation too. You could tell she genuinely loved spending time with them, not just stopping by to check a box. We came home to two happy, relaxed pets and zero worries. If you’re looking for someone who will care for your animals like they’re her own (and keep you smiling with all the updates), stop searching. She’s fantastic.

Sometimes when you hire a stranger to take care of your loved one, whether it’s your 103 year old grandma in hospice or your 10 year old dog, there’s always a chance something could happen. In this instance, according to Chewie, my 10 year old dog, the long walks were ruff, but Grace puts the wow in bow-wow.

  • 93% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
