“Paige took wonderful care of our cat, Charlie, while we were away for a few days. She was very communicative, sending photos and updates, and we came home to a happy, calm cat. We’d definitely recommend Paige and would gladly hire her again!”

“Upon meeting Shana, you know she is a good fit. She has a warm and gentle way with you-- and more importantly your dog. Fredd was completely at ease the first time he met her. She was communicative thoughout the whole time we were away. I received daily pictures and updates. I couldn't recommend her more!”

“Alexander is incredibly reliable, kind and helpful in taking care of Skipper. He goes above and beyond in making sure that our older dog is consistently given walks, meals and even an insulin shot”
“Grace and Julia were fantastic! They communicated thoroughly throughout their visit and were super flexible despite some minor hurdles. We’d recommend them to anyone and we’d love to have them care for our pup again!”

“I am so grateful to have found a dependable sitter that my boy Spud loves! She is professional, flexible to our routine, and I know they have fun together. I enjoyed all of the updates and pics/videos she sent while I was away missing him. I will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Lena has been fantastic! She has communicated thoroughly- taken the time to meet and understand my cat's routine and needs / quirks. Her calm presence even had my very shy cat come out to interact upon first introduction. Lena sent regular updates / rover cards, photos and made sure to spend time with my cat while I was away. I highly recommend Lena and will book again!”

“We're so thankful for Jen's great care of our 15-year-old tabby cat. She's communicative, compassionate, and reliable. Our cat loves her and we know that he's in good hands.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats for the last 10 years, and my friends and neighbors have trusted me to walk and feed their pets too! I love cats and dogs of all kinds! I work Wednesday-Monday during the day so I can walk, feed, or play with pets in the afternoons and evenings or I can house sit overnight. I am used to high-energy dogs and cats that need someone to play with and get their energy out, or to take them for a long walk.
“Rebecca was very professional, punctual and friendly! She was very flexible in accommodating a last minute scheduling change, and clearly has a lot of experience with different types of dogs (handling our dog who gets quite feisty with skateboards easily). We hope to use Rebecca's services again in the future!”

About: I have experience with dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and reptiles. I had two guinea pigs, I have taken care of a few of my friends dogs and cats, I have taken care of another friend’s leopard gecko and I am okay with feeding live prey to pets. I am currently a student at SUNY New Paltz and I am studying Communications there. I will be available from May-August when the Spring 2024 semester ends. I can be trusted with the care of your pets because I love all animals. I am also a very compassionate person and always tend to others needs
About: I’ve walked dogs and pet-sit for friends, neighbors, and families for years, and have been sitting on Rover for about a year! I’ve walked big, small, old, and young dogs. My dog, Bailey, is a senior and is blind, and needs a variety of different medications so I am well versed and comfortable with disabled dogs/dogs that need medication. I am a full time student at SUNY New Paltz studying geology. Because of this, I will be able to work before, after, or in between different classes! Message me about specific availability :) I always make sure that all leashes and collars are secure before walking. I can give food, water, snacks, and different medications as needed! I can also play outside or indoors with them, and can create fun enrichment toys for them!
About: I have grown up with dogs and cats my whole life, so I understand that they need lots of love and care. I love animals and I think it’s very important for dogs to get exercise, so it is important that they get as much time as possible walking and going to parks. Playing with dogs is apart of their well-being and yours! I think that dogs and cats make people much happier and because of that it is our job to keep them happy and healthy. This means feeding them, playing with them, petting them, and watching out for them. I have volunteered at two animal shelters in the past, worked for a company called Bark, and have dog and cat sit for friends before. I am kind and responsible and would love to spend time with your animals. I am available every day/night except Saturdays. I work late on Saturdays but could still come in the morning, and can still go by in the evenings as long as your animal doesn’t have a super specific set meal time at night. I will be respectful of your belongings and your space. I will make sure their water is always full, and to follow your instructions on the best way to care for them.
“Kim is the best! She’s such a kind and considerate individual who made me feel so at ease on my trip. She took great care of my cat and I’d 100% recommend her to anyone else! You can definitely trust Kim with your pet care needs :)”

“Aliza is a warm and friendly sitter who was able to look after our two kitties on relatively short notice. She had some great ideas for how to handle feeding time based on their personalities and food-related behavior. She was also easy to work with. Will hire again!”

“Kate spent time with our very nervous rescue dog this past weekend. Kate is calm and sweet and she made progress with Foxy over the two days. It is hard to leave a nervous dog but we felt that Foxy was in great hands. We were so grateful for the reports and photos Kate sent. We will definitely be booking with her again.”

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Paltz. On Rover:

- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
